Let’s gather lotus seed by southern rivershore!

江南可采莲,

The lotus sways with teeming leaves we adore.

莲叶何田田,

Among the leaves fish play and make love.

鱼戏莲叶间,

In the east they make love below and we above;

鱼戏莲叶东,

In the west they make love below and we above;

鱼戏莲叶西,

In the south they make love below and we above;

鱼戏莲叶南,

In the north they make love below and we above;

鱼戏莲叶北。

导读译文：

江南又到了可以采莲的季节了，叶子浮出水面紧密相连。鱼儿在莲叶间嬉戏，鱼儿在莲叶东面嬉戏，鱼儿在莲叶西面嬉戏，鱼儿在莲叶南面嬉戏，鱼儿在莲叶北面嬉戏。

渡江采芙蓉I Gather Lotus Blooms

I gather lotus blooms across the stream.

涉江采芙蓉，

In orchid marsh where fragrant flowers teem.

兰泽多芳草。

To whom shall I send what I pluck today?

采之欲遗谁，

The one I love is living far away.

所思在远道。

I turn my eyes towards our old

还顾望旧乡,

O what can I find but a long, long road.

长路漫浩浩。

Living apart, how can we be consoled.

同心而离居,

Our hearts are one, I’ll grieve till I grow old.

忧伤以终老。

踏过江水去采芙蓉，生有兰草的水泽中长满香草。采了荷花要送给谁呢？想要送给那远方的爱人。回望那一起生活过的故乡，路途无边无际。两心相爱却又各在一方，愁苦忧伤以至终老异乡。

The West Lake is set, after all, in the month of June;

毕竟西湖六月中，

From th’ other seasons, th’ views are of a different kind.

风光不与四时同。

Lotus leaves, green and exuberant, merge with the blue;

接天莲叶无穷碧，

Their flowers, sun-tinged red, look exceptionally fine.

映日荷花别样红。

导读：

Yang Guo(1195-1269) styled Zhengqing, also known by his literary name Xi'an, was born in Puyin of Qizhou (today's Anguo of Hebei Province).He won the title of Jinshi (first place) in the Imperial Examination of 1224. Famous for his quick mind and witty tongue, Yang was a master hand at prose writing. He also excelled in composing Yuefu poetry. His works were collected in A Collection of Xi'an. His short lyrics resemble Ci poetry in style.

杨果（1195-1269）字正卿，号西庵，祁州蒲阴（今河北安国）人。金正大甲申（1224）进士。性聪敏，善谐虐，工文章，尤长于乐府。有《西庵集》，小令风格近于词。

小桃红·采莲女（一）

Vapor and mist shroud the town, the moon is filmily seen.

满城烟水月微茫，

Against a painted boat girls sing and careen,

人倚兰舟唱，

Remenber still on the Ruoye River we met,

常记相逢若耶上。

Separated by three Xiang Rivers like a net,

隔三湘，

Helplessly I sigh looking at the blue and distant cloud,

碧云望断空惆怅。

Remember again, she once smiled and said aloud:

美人笑道：

Our meeting is short, but our love is long to spend.

莲花相似，

Just like the lotus' sap without an end.①

情短藕丝长。

①The lotus root snaps but the fibres stay joined-apparently severed,
