In social situations, a man is traditionally introduced to a woman (notice that the woman’s name is mentioned first); a younger person to an older person; a less important person to a more important person. However, in the business world the order is based on a person’s rank (等级) or position in a company rather than on age or gender (性别). A lower-ranking person is introduced to a higher-ranking person.
