梳洗罢，

独倚望江楼。

过尽千帆皆不是，

斜晖脉脉水悠悠。

肠断白蘋洲。

Washed and combed, she watches the river from above. Many sails pass; she sees no sign of her love.

The slanting sun-rays cast a lingering glow;

The broad river in its continuous flow;

The islet with its plots of white flowers in bloom;

Each and all contribute to her utter gloom.
