Mom made my favorite snacks - pizza, chicken nuggets and ice cream sandwiches. We stuffed ourselves silly. At the end of the party, everyone sang happy birthday to me. I felt like a superstar! Mom and Dad gave me the coolest present ever - a brand newskateboard. I've been begging for one forever. It's bright green with black grip tape and super smooth wheels. I can't wait to learn some sick tricks on it.A few days after my birthday, our whole family went on an amazing road trip! We packed up the minivan and hit the road bright and early. Our first stop was the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Seeing that huge canyon in person was mind-blowing. The sheer size of it made me feel so tiny. We took a donkey ride along the rim trail which was a trippy experience. Those donkeys were pretty smelly but it was still fun. After the Grand Canyon, we drove to Las Vegas. The hotels there are ginormous! We stayed at one that had this crazy laser fountain show outside every night. The lights and music were unbelievable. Dad won a bit of money playing blackjack too which was awesome. From Vegas, we headed to Los Angeles to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins. That was the best part of the trip. Playing at the beach with my cousins was a blast. We went boogie boarding, built tremendous sand castles, and played an epic game of beach frisbee. I even saw a celebrity walking down Venice Beach! I'll never forget this epic road trip.After we got back home, I went to summer camp for two weeks at the camp my older brother always goes to. I was a bitnervous at first being away from home and not knowing many kids there. But I made friends super fast! My favorite parts of camp were the horseback riding lessons andthe talent show. I had never ridden a horse before so I was pretty shaky at first. But by the end of camp I could trot and canter around the ring like a pro. For the talent show, me and my friends formed a rock band and we performed a rockified version of "Old Town Road." We had the whole camp cracking up and cheering for us. I was so proud of us. Summer camp ended up being a total blast!When I got home from camp, my family took me on a weekend camping trip up in the mountains. We stayed in one of those giant cabin tents and cooked all our food over the campfire. telling scary stories around the campfire at night was my favorite part. I tried to scare the pants off my little brother with my terrifying story about the hunted campsite. He was shaking in his sleeping bag after that one! During the days we went on awesome hikes, checked out waterfalls, went fishing in a lake and spotted tons of cool wildlife. I saw a massive elk, a family of deer and even a sneaky coyote passing through our campsite. Being out in nature was so peaceful and refreshing. I didn't miss my video games and TV one bit.After our camping adventure, the rest of my summer was spent hanging out with my friends in the neighborhood. We played tag, rode our bikes all over the place, had epic water balloon fights, and just goofed around outside all day long. Having all that free time to just be kids and not worry about school was the best. A few times we set up a lemonade stand on my street which was fun. We'd sing robanthems to try to get people to stop and buy our lemonade. One time we actually made 20 bucks! Of course we spent it all on candy and comic books right after.On the last weekend before school started, my family always goes to the big county fair. This year's fair was even better than I remembered. I went on so many crazy rides - the zipper, the gravitron, the haunted house. I'm getting queasy just thinking about it! I even worked up the courage to ride the newest monster coaster called the Delirium. That thing was utterly insane with its twisting loop-the-loops and super steep drops. My stomach is still recovering! After hitting all the rides, I always love going through the exhibition halls. Seeing the prize-winning pumpkins, pies, jams and crafts is so cool. They had one pumpkin there as big as a truck! After the exhibits, we watched an awesome magic show and this hilarious hypnotist performance. For a finale, we got to see an incredible fireworks extravaganzachoreographed to classic rock music. The explosions were perfectly timed to songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Will Rock You." It was an epic way to end the summer with a bang!And just like that, my summer vacation was over in a blur. While I'm sad it had to end, I have so many wonderful memories from all the fun I had.
