History
the end of 1930s Jean Zay, the French Minister of National Education, decided to create an international cinematographic festival in France. Cannes was chosen to be the place because of the weather.
("Golden Palm") for the best film.

The first session of the festival ended before it started because of the declaration of war against Germany by France and the United Kingdom.
1946
The festival was relaunched after World War II in 1946, in the old Casino(赌场) of Cannes.It was financed by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry and the City of Cannes.
2002
The origin name of the festival is Festival international du film. The Festival officially adopted the name Festival de Cannes.
