However, Hurricane Sara is the third hurricane that has struck this area since last July. As many as 500 homes have been destroyed and thousands more are damaged. The white beaches are now covered in pieces of broken houses. The highway has been closed in case of accidents, cutting off this beautiful tourist site from the outside. The local officials say that hundreds of people have already been rescued, but many others preferred to remain. These people were mainly pet owners. They keep dogs, cats, birds and other animals at home; they prefer to stay because their pets don’t like being left alone. Other people insisted on going back and collecting their pets.
