Today, my topic is……
To make my presentation much clearer, I’ll describe my thoughts in the following 5 parts: analysis of teaching material, teaching methods analysis, learning methods analysis, teaching procedures and blackboard design.
First, let’s come to the part one: analysis of teaching material
Section one: status and function
The topic is mainly about ……. Such a topic is related to their daily life so it can arouse their learning interests and it can also improve their reading skills.
Section two: teaching and learning goals
Knowledge goals:
1.learn to use the words and expressions,such as ______ ______ _____
2.Master the key sentences such as ______ ______
Ability goals:
Learn to talk about the talent shows with superlatives.
Moral goals:
Learn about the culture of talent show and treat it correctly.
Section three: key points and difficult points
Key points:
Understand and master the main idea and specific ideas.
Difficult points:
Retell the passage and master the difficult words and phrases.
Section four: Teaching aids
I’ll mainly use multimedia, cards, pictures, and a tape recorder
Next, part two: teaching methods analysis
I’ll use “task-based teaching method”, “communicative teaching method”, and “audio-visual teaching method” to improve the student’s enthusiasm.
Now, let’s come to part three: learning methods analysis
The learning methods of my class are pair work, group work, individual work and discussion. Teach students how to be successful language learners.
So much for the part three, next is part four: teaching procedures
It’s the most important part of my presentation, in this part, I design six steps.
Step 1: pre-reading
Warming up and leading in.
First, I’ll play a video of “the voice of C hina”. Tell them this is a kind of talent shows. Then, I’ll show some pictures of the best players. They are the most talented person in this talent show. Last, guide my Ss’ to talk about “Who is the most talented person you know” and “What can he/she do?” with their partners.
Purpose: this design can draw Ss’ attention and lead in the topic naturally.
Step 2: while-reading
1.read for the general idea
Lead Ss’ look at the title of the article and guess the main idea of it.
Show them three options to choose.
A. Talent shows are getting more and more popular.
B. All these shows are in common.
C. talent shows can help people make their dreams come true.
Then read fast and silently to find the general idea to prove their prediction.
2.read for the specific ideas
Read paragraph 1 to finish the following three “true” or “false” sentences.
1.Watch other people show their talent is interesting.
2.Talent shows are getting more and more popular.
3.There are not similar shows in China.
Read paragraph 2 to answer the following 2 questions.
1.What’s the common of these shows?
2.Whose decides the winner?
I’ll teach Ss’ some reading strategies. Find out the “key words” of questions, such as “in common”“decides the winner”, and then read the passage with the “key words” to find the answer.
Read paragraph 3 to find out the missing phrase such as “made up”“in fact” to fill in the blanks.
Purpose: Through this kind of reading, Ss can better master the main idea and specific ideas. It also can development the reading abilities of skimming, scanning and prediction.
Step 3: post-reading
1.retell the passage
Read the passage again and again to try to retell it.
2.make a survey
Work in groups of 4 and talk about the got talent classmates. Each group should choose a leader. He/She writes down their answers and gives the class a report. I’ll tell Ss every one can get talent if they find their advantages.
Purpose: to encourage students output the information what they have learnt in the real situation naturally.
Step 4: inquiry into knowledge by translation
Ask Ss’ to look at the sentences such as “That’s up to you to decide”, try to talk about how to use “be up to”. Use the same method to discover the language rules.
Purpose: guide students to discover the language rules by themselves.
Step 5: summary
Guide Ss’ to sum up what they have learnt and ask some Ss’ to speak their summary.
Step 6: homework
I design two levels about homework. First, you must master the key words and expressions, main idea and specific ideas. If you can, please introduce the talent show which you like best and write them down.
Purpose: two levels adapt to different Ss. Let Ss’obtain successful experience to improve them.
So much for the part four, now is part five: blackboard design
This is my blackboard design. I divide it into two parts. The part one is “main idea”. Part two is the superlative in this article. Write them on the blackboard make my Ss to learn the important points easily.
