,but he can‟t earn enough for the rent and kindergarten , his life was difficult.Part two: Being stupid In this part ,Chris had to apply for a work as a stock woker ,so he left the medical equipment with a girl ,but the girl took it away!what a accident!Part three : Running He ran after the girl who had stolen the equipment ,finally ,he took it back ,another situation is that he had no money for the taxi ,so he escaped;eventually,he was sent to the prison for owing the taxes ,and the next morning ,he ran to the stock company for a interview with paint stains on his body.Part four : Internship Ive been as poor as Chris Gardner, and, like him, Ive been poor among very rich people in the Bay Area while trying to work my way up.Chris Gardner is a loving father and failing businessman. He is chosen for a competitive internship at Dean Witter, a stock brokerage. The internship, which offers Chris a very long shot at a better life, doesnt pay any salary. Chris has to live without a salary for six months while risking just about everything for that long shot gamble.Chris is really smart. He can solve a Rubriks cube in minutes. But, hes poor. Poverty, like an octopus, keeps trying to suck him down to the bottom, and make him stay there.His car is towed. His wife walks out on him, leaving him with a five year old son. He is arrested for unpaid traffic tickets. He becomes homeless. He has to rely on a homeless shelter.All this while, he must appear for work in the morning in a suit and tie, and be ready to charm some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the Bay Area. These people take wealth so much for granted that two of them stiff him for cab fare.Having lived through similar experiences, I cringed throughout this movie. My stomach hurt. I winced. I cried. I hugged my knees to my chest.The movie is very accurate, but painful to watch. I hope a lot of rich people, who think that they understand poverty, see it.This movie will be politically controversial. First of all, it doesnt touch the race issue with a ten foot pole. For example, when Chris appears to stiff a taxi driver for fare (it was really the rich white guy who failed to pay), the taxi driver never uses the "n" word. In real life, I think he probably would have.Is the movie afraid to talk about race, or does it not want to? I dont know, but I know that some will protest the movies not shoving race in the movie goers face. Im not one of those people. The movies approach to race -- treating it as almost incidental -- worked for me. As a poor white person, I can tell you that poor white people face the same obstacles Chris did.Second, does the movie sell the message that if you work hard, you will succeed, no matter what, and does that message tell the truth about success in America? I think that the movie is open to interpretation. Some will see it as an indictment of poverty in America. The scene of carefree rich people driving past the line to get into a homeless shelter is pretty devastating. Other people will become angry because they believe that the movies depiction of hard work leading to rewards, in some cases, is too facile. I disagree, but thats what youll hear.Third, is this movie meant to chastise black men who abandon their children? Chris is a role model exactly because he moves heaven and earth to be a good father to his son. This will be debated back and forth.The movie has a big philosophical statement to make, that has been lost on many reviewers, for example, Richard Schickel in TIME.Chris is shown running throughout the movie. Remember the title of the movie: "The PURSUIT of Happiness." Chris places emphasis on "pursuit." Jefferson, when he penned the Declaration of Independence, did not promise Americans happiness, but only the right to pursue it. Chris says, at one point in the movie, paraphrase, "I am happy right now. It is a fleeting moment." We experience happiness in eyeblinks. The rest of the time we, like Chris, are chasing after it.当幸福来敲门英文影评【二】In preparation for writing this comment, which I am compelled to write for reasons which will become clear, I read a fair few of the major critics to see, if on this occasion, they had seen and felt what I had.James Bernadelli suggests this film should be known as the "Pursuit of Richness"; another column I have read suggests that themoney-will-solve-your-problems resolution is depressing and not the message Hollywood (or art in general) should be trying to put across.I ask myself when the last occasion might have been that any of these critics genuinely had to :spoiler: run, under painful, embarrassing duress, from a cab - because they didnt have the money; or when the forces of life seemed to conspire against them so unfairly that they broke down in tears. Spoiler: when your wealthy boss, who you CANNOT disappoint, asksyou to borrow the last five dollars in your wallet, and you know that that money is all you have in the world - to feed your family, to pay your gas.You go through times in life when you feel that things couldnt possibly get worse - and then they do - and then they do again. Sometimes, (like Chris and son at the beach towards the end of the film) you just want to get away from it all, other times you cry. Sometimes, and this is rare, you laugh - because if you dont youll cry. You know that if you let it all become too much, you will sink to the bottom of the sea.Chris Gardner (not the real one perhaps, but the one in this movie) is my personal hero; my shining example; my inspiration - the guy that never allows himself to sink - even when he can feel his shoelaces trailing on the seabed.I realised as I was watching this film that I was watching another me, so I never once stopped rooting for Chris. When he :spoiler: fixes the scanner in the shelter, I felt like I had fixed it.Im still working on getting the job that earns me enough to have a less painful life - when Chris finally achieves it, I want it for him so badly that I feel it in the very fibre of my being.I suppose that it doesnt matter that much that Chris wants to succeed as much for his son as for himself. In a way, the fact that Chris has a son makes this movie emotionally frightening and if (and only if) our basest fears are being toyed with by the director, it is only in exactly the same way that we sometimes look up in to the sky and say - like Jim Carrey in "Bruce Almighty" - is there anything else you could possibly do to me today? In my life, God doesnt appear and explain why he keepstoying with me. The truest belief is in oneself and one must never lose it.I adore this movie and I couldnt be more grateful for its existence. It comes at a time when I need it most. Its message: Keep going - never, ever give up.And so I come back to those reviewers. Money certainly doesnt mean happiness in this existence, but no money, in this cruel capitalist world, can cost you your life. Do not be judgmental of those who want more, it might just be enough to pay for their son to eat, to keep a roof over his head, to keep their dignity. This film is not about rags-to-riches as some reviewers have said. Its not about the American dream either. It is about dignity and integrity and how money (or lack thereof) could easily strip you of both.Chris Gardner never loses either and for this, he is an inspiration to us all.。

There Is No “Y” In Happiness, There Is “I”—A REVIEW OF”THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS”There is a story about loser. As a matter of fact, I think it is usually more serious problem that someone is called “loser” in English. Because,when you are labeled a "loser" in the name, you will be forgotten and despised by others. And when you are named “total loser”, I am afraid you will break down in your life. However, this story is not about success, just about happiness. What is happiness? If you ask this question on what is the same universe. As we all know, everyone has their own standard about happiness.As long as you reach this standard, you're happy.Just like this film “the pursuit of the happyness”. This film tells the story of a poor father called Christ Gardner. When He met his father, he was 28. So he was determined to be a good father who can take care of his son very well. He wanted to change the situation of the family.He bought 50 b one scanners ,he wanted to sale these by 240 dollars to make a change.But he failed.Most of the doctors think it as a useless an d expensive machine .Christ had to find out other ways to make it.With the help of a magic cube ,he succeeded getting a chanc e to practice in Dean Witter,he want to be a stockbroker,because he meet a person who own a wonderful car,he ask him how t o make it ,and he got the answer that he was a stockbroker.But there were 20 person attending this practice.But at last ,only one person would be hired,and to made matters worse.During the6 months of the practice, there were no salary. During this time, his wife left him, Because of the enormous pressure of life. Chris became a single father. Misfortunes never come singly, he and his son were driven out of the apartment, they were homeless. Although under great pressure , Chris chose to stick it out, and fight for what he know n he can do ,for him ,and for his son. He is strong in spirit ,what ever barriers he meet ,he just continued his work and never sto pped running .but it looks like that god likes to play tricks with h im , he had gone through more hardships than others before th e final success . After the most difficult time ,the spring for him is coming. He was hired. And he became a successful investment expert at last.As far as I concerned, the storyline focuses on some details about the whole story. The first detail, as the beginning of this film,after Chris has sent Christopher to the kindergarten , he sa w a wrong word “happ y ess” on the wall .How could this be?Maybe nobody cared about it. But Chris paid attention to the wrong word and said a famous sentence: There is no “Y(why)”in happiness ,the only thing we can do is striving for our own happiness voluntarily . It was not only a simple sigh with feeling, but also a theme of this film. As a matter of fact, this film just wanted pass on a truth to us, the truth about happiness. The second detail, Chris said he met with his father at 28.When Chris phoned his wife in the police station and begged her to bring his son back, the tears fulled of the love of a father, perhaps he knew poverty-stricken situation clearly, tax, rent an d tickets were waiting for paid, his wife left him because of the poor life and his “unpractical” dream, but in his mind, if his son was still with him,he had a family. And his son was the only sup port of his fighting. He wanted to be an eligible father. But it can not be ignored When the mother left his son, she told to her son “tell him I love him”,which touched me. For women who wo rked almost 16 hours per day to raise the family and whose hus band always in unpractical dream, in her mind it seemed reasonable for her to leave. But she was just a mother, although she knew that she had no time to take care of her son and Chris could stay with the boy and looked after him well, she still could nothelp to sob when she left. In her tears, I believe all audience wo uld forgive her. When I watched this, I felt sad and despairing. I believed everyone who saw this plot story wanted to ask “where is happiness”. The next detail, After one day’s work, Mr. Chris and his son came back home, on ly to find their things were packed and stacked out of the door. They had no place to live. In the washroom of the subway statio n, with the voice of knocking the door, Mr. Chris covered his son ’s ears tightly and cried. As a father who loves his son so deep, h e must be in the feeling of self-abuse, but the only thing he coul d do is just work harder. And this is the image touches me the most in the whole movie. The last detail that I want to say is Christopher’s tears. In order to have a bed to sleep in the Churc h refuge, they had to catch the last bus, when they were runnin g, his Captain America dropped but they had no time to pick it u p, when the bus moved away, the boy burstinto tears. At that time, he wasnot the boy who went with his father to sell the medical instru ment through streets and lanes, who was on the go from one p oorhouse to another, who told jokes to make his father happy. S eeing the crying boy, at that time, he was only a 5-year-old kid, the poor life made him so sensible.In addition, I think it is necessary to introduce our leading role Chris Gardner. I have to say he is a real man. He usually says like “this is a part of my life, and this part is calle d……” People in the hardship can have a spirit of self-mockery is valuable, and I think just because his optimism and endeavor, h e can succeed. He doesn‟t used to go to a college and he is stru ggling for life, but when he heard that to be a stockbroker just n eed to be good with numbers and good with people. He seems to see the hope of life. To be an internship with no wage makes his life harder, but he never give up. On the other hand, as his son said, Chris Gardner is a good papa. After his wife left him,he took care of his son no matter how he was busy he encouraged his son to pursuit his dream bravely, and in my vi ew, these words are for us, too. “Don‟t ever let somebody tell you, you can’t do something, you got a dream,you gotta protect it. People can‟t do it themselves, they wanna tell you, you can ‟t do it. If you want to something, go get it, period”. When Mr. Chris gets the news that he is the one who succeed, he feels so excited that he rushes to daycare centre and hugs his son tightly . I believe there‟s must be tears, but this time, the tears is full of happiness.This is a man who never say die. There are many people cannot enter the door of happiness and success. Why? This is because these people lack the force of unremitting persistence and the pursuit of happiness. So when they fall on hard times, they can not recover after a setback. What is more, some people will lose their heart. But Chris got rid of the trouble that caused domino-effect, he doggedly got over many difficulties that he met and broke the darkness before dawn, and he won the day. It reminds me the story of The Old Man and The Sea. There is a famous saying like that a man can be destroyed but not defeated. Nobody was born to be failure. When the opportunity comes, you should hold on it as possible as you can. Sometimes, we feel the life is unfair, but whether we have ignored something just like that fool. Happiness is not right there at your fingertips, so someone who just wants to sit there and wait to the happiness to knock on the door will miss the final. While the light is only hope in exchange for waiting patiently.In the movie, Jefferson’s the Declaration of Independence’s phrase about man’s in alienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If America is about the promise of bettering oneself, why does it have to be so freaking hard? We see the world “happiness”is deliberately misspelled in thename of the film “The Pursuit of Happyness” It means there is no why in the happiness only “I”. I still remember the joke Chris’s son told to him:One day, a man was drowning in the water.And a boat came by and said.” Do you need any help?”He said,” No, thank you. God will save me.”Then another boat came by and said,” Do you need any help?”And he said ,” No, thank you. God will save me.”Then he drowned, and he went to heaven.And he said,” God, why did not you save me?”And God said,” I sent you two big boats, you dummy.”If let me, I’d like to rewrite it as this:A father said ,”God, why do not you give me the happiness?”God answered,” I have already given your own son who accompanies you on the way to happiness.”Everybody has his pared with the word he said at the beginning ,he wondered, They all looked “happy,”“Why not me?.At last ,he succeeded by his hard working. Why Chris was happy finally? Got a good job? Become a rich man?Money and success in business involve many different aspects, people can be successful only with working harder and harder. So I do not think the story just told people to hardly work. If it just so, that is fortune rather than happiness. For Chris Gardner, his happiness is to stay with his s on and to realize his dream step by step.It is said that this movie is inspired by a true story, and I w ant to say, this movie does inspire me a lot. we are unique and we are ourselves ,just hold a dream and do what you can do ,an d do your best ,don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something .I think, tough life experiences always make a gre at person. If you want something ,go and get it . It is said that th e move is from a true story ,so we should believe the sentence t hat “Everything is possible” . Like Chris’s experience ,who posse d the desire and the passion to live it ,who dreamt the America n dream . In the end he finally made his dream come true . “He y ,dad ,listen to this ,knock, knock ”I know who was there .he w as happiness. I know that it is not easy to be a good husband a nd a good Papa, since in reality, only love cannot only make eve rything. And I also learn that one has to strongly believe in hims elf, no matter how difficult the situation is, but of course, hard-working is indispensable.If only we can work hard like Chris,wewill also succeed.So we should not have the thought that someone can succeed without any pa ying.Everyone of us has to try our by to pursuit the happiness of ours.The Pursuit of Happiness is really an excellent move , afte r watching it ,I cannot calm my heart down for a long time,there are tears on my face ,but smile in my heart ,I think Chris is a go od example for all of us ,just be optimistic and go to realize you r dream.。
