On most occasions, without self-
introduction or introduction of someone else, the presider may directly ask the participants to seat themselves and then announce the opening. For example:

At an international conference, especially in a
parallel session, the appointed chairperson could rise to the platform and announce the opening with a self-introduction. For example: Ex.14-1 Ladies and gentlemen, My name is ..., from ..., and I'm going to chair this morning's session. It's a pleasure this morning to welcome you, my colleagues from all over the world, to our conference. Now, I declare the meeting open.
