I’m Li Lin, a girl of fifteen from Guangzhou Number One Middle School. I am fond of music and interested in photography. Mark Twain, one of the best known American writers in the 19th century, was born in1835, in Missouri of the United States. Mark Twain’s hometown lies on the banks of the Mississippi River, where he spent his childhood. When he grew up he worked as a sailor on a riverboat for some time. Mark Twain wrote a lot of novels, among which The Adventure of Tom Sawyer is the most famous one. Some of his writings have been translated into many languages. He died in 1910, but his books are deeply loved by readers throughout the world.

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we’ve had about whether it is right for whoever finds valuable cultural relics to keep them.

Opinions are divided on the question. 60% of the students are against the idea of keeping them. Firstly, they believe that all cultural relics are valuable for finding out about the past. Besides, it is dishonest to take things that do not belong to you. What is more, every cultural relic belongs to the country and not to any one person.

On the other hand, 40% think that if you find cultural relics you can keep them because, for one thing, time and money had been spent looking for them so the finders deserved them. For another, there is no doubt that nobody would look for lost relics if they could not keep them.

We had a class vote. Those who disagreed with the question won. The debate changed the minds of some people who had originally supp orted Johann Weber’s ideas.

1. Of all the sports, I like table tennis best. I became interested in it when I was very young. I'm fond of table tennis team players, such as Zhang Yining, Wang Hao, Zhang Jike, Ma Long and so on. The reason why I like it very much is that it is our national ball as well as of great benefit to us. Playing table tennis can build up our bodies, keep us healthy and train our brains. 2. I’m fond of many kinds of sports, like basketball, table tennis, volleyball, football and swimming as well. However, my favourite sport is swimming, and I’ve enjoyed the sport since I was five years old.

In summer, though it’s very hot, I feel cool in the water and I can swim freely like a fish in the pool. Swimming has a magical power to help me relax after long tiring day’s study. What is the most important reason is that it helps me keep healthy and happy.
