Course Description:

A systematic approach for strategic management will be introduced. The class will focus on general management of the strategic activity, or put it simply on strategic management. Course Learning Goals:

The central objective of the course is to help students to bring the vision into a concrete reality. Rather than philosophizing in the abstract about the attribute strategic management, it offer practicing business students a disciplined process that facilitates the formulation and implementation of strategy to allow this demanding task of identifying and imprinting the vision of the firm to become a meaningful reality.

2. Evaluating a firm’s external environment

3. Evaluating a firm’s internal capabilities

4. Cost leadership

5. Product differentiation

6. Vertical integration

7. Corporate diversification

8. Organizing to implement corporate diversification

9. Strategic alliances

10. Mergers and acquisitions

Prerequisite:

You must have at least taken a course on management.
