why not?

Looking around, you’ll find that people who are equipped with a sense of humor receive much more popularity. Most people prefer to stay with humorous persons. Why does sense of humor become so popular? In my opinion, the reasons are as follow.

To begin with, a sense of humor is an imperative temperament for a person. It conduces to （有助于）others’ feeling that you are easygoing and accessible, which makes you look more attractive. Thus, result in people opening their hearts to make friends with you.

Besides, a sense of humor would be the best method to deal with dilemma. Just imagine, when something unpleasant happens，some humorous words would always work in that case. So, the unharmonious atmosphere would melt gradually.

What is more, a sense of humor is the spice of our life. When in bad mood or under great pressure, stories or jokes full of humor would surely make you feel easy. It’s really a great way to relax.

In conclusion, we need a sense of humor. We could not live without it in some degree, for it’s far too important for us. That is why a culture of humor is developing and growi ng dramatically in our society even the whole world nowadays. To become a successful man, it

will be significant to possess a sense of humor.

2. Which sentence encourages you most? Why do we need encouragement and praise?

People need encouragement and praise. Firstly, Encouragement and praise will make people feel they are supported while they will not give up things they are good at. For example, parents always encourage their children to overcome the barriers they meet and children will always become stronger. Secondly, When people succeed, we praise them their effort and the great outcome. So they will feel awarded and they will go on to next station instead of becoming self-satisfied.

Besides , we may not be lucky enough to achieve our goals all the time .In fact , setback always lies along the way to success and too often we are turned down by failures . So,we need encouragement and praise when we are in trouble,which can give us hope and make us stand up again.

3. Can you think of any ways in which Chinese culture affects gender roles?

Yes, there are many traditional Chinese gender concepts affect gender roles in today’s society. In ancient tome, the Chinese ideology of feminine inequality considers women to be inferior and subordinated to men by nature, and hence should be subjected to a double standard of marriage and related matters. The only place delegated to women was in the family where they would play the
