They seem to be enjoying themselves, and it seems that they won't mind what the score will be at all. I think they benefit from this activity in several ways. First, they're getting some exercise, which is always good for them because ifs great for health and helps to relax. At the same time, they're having fun together, which is important because it builds up their social relationships and their friendships. Also, it is good for boys and girls to do a bit of sports together, because I think playing sports is about having fun with everyone and winning is not the only thing. In the second photo, there are four girls talking together in a cafe and laughing. They aren't so active as the children in the first photo because they're not doing a sport, but they are communicating more and share their ideas and experiences. I think they also benefit because they can talk about their problems, relax and also enjoy their friendships. All in a2ll, I think they get a lot from both activities.

English.[05:30.24]Most native speakers of English are found in the United Kingdom,[05:36.09]the United States of America,Canada,Australia,[05:42.73]South Africa,Ireland and New Zealand.[05:48.58]In total, for more than 375 million people English is their mother tongue.[05:57.36]And equal number people learn English as a second language.[06:03.60]These people will perhaps speak the language of their own country at home with their family,[06:10.76]but the language of the government, schools, newspapers and TV is English[06:19.30]This situation is found in counties such an India,[06:24.57]Pakistan,Nigeria and the Philippines.[06:30.03]However,the number of people who learn English as a foreign language is more than 750 million.[06:38.99]Everywhere in the world children go to school to learn English.[06:45.16]Most people learn English for five or six years at high school.[06:51.61]In China students learn English at school as a foreign language,[06:57.78]except for those in Hong Kong,[07:01.83]where many people speak English as a first or at a second language.[07:08.30]In only fifty years,[07:11.96]English has developed into the language most widely spoken and used in the world.[07:18.91]English is the working language of most international organizations,[07:25.15]international trade and tourism.[07:30.01]Businessmen and tourists often come to China without being able to speak Chinese.[07:37.56]Chinese businessmen, taxi drivers and students talk with them using English.[07:45.29]English is also the language of global culture,[07:50.65]such as popular music and the Internet.[07:55.51]You can listen to English songs on the radio[08:00.47]or use English to comm -unicate with people around the world through the Internet.[08:07.13]With so many people communicating in English every day,[08:13.09]it will become more and more important to have a good knowledge of English.[08:19.75]INTEGRATING SKILLS[08:27.01]Reading and writing[08:30.48]AMERICAN ENGLISH AND BRITISH ENGLISH[08:35.24]Many students want to know about the differences[08:40.59]between American English and British English.[08:45.56]How did these differences come about?[08:49.50]There is no quick answer to this question.[08:53.76]At first the language in Britain and America was the same.[08:59.53]In 1776 America became an independent country.[09:06.09]After that, the language slowly began to change.[09:11.42]For a long time the language in America stayed the same,[09:16.85]while the language in England changed.[09:21.21]For example,300 years ago the English talked about "fall".[09:28.58]Today,most British people talk about "autumn",[09:34.04]but Americans still talk about "fall".[09:39.00]In the same way Americans still use the expression "I guess"(meaning "I think"),[09:47.96]just as the British did 300 years ago.[09:53.11]At the same time.[09:56.17]British English and American English stared borrowing words from other languages,[10:03.53]ending up with different words.[10:07.58]For example, the British took "typhoon" from Chinese,[10:14.24]while the Americans took "tornado" from Spanish.[10:20.20]In 1828 Noah Webster published the first American dictionary.[10:26.86]He wanted to make American English different from British English,[10:32.92]so he changed the spelling of many words .[10:37.68]That's why the words colour, centre and traveller are spelt color,[10:46.82]center and traveler in American English.[10:51.78]Except for these differences in spelling,[10:56.04]written English is more or less the same in both British and American English.[11:03.12]The differences are greater in the spoken language.[11:07.98]For example,Americans say dance ,and in southern England they say/da:ns/.[11:16.23]In America they pronounce not [];in southern England they say [].[11:24.77]However,most of the time people from the two countries do not have any difficulty in understanding each other.[11:34.33]Words W:Have the children left for school yet? M:Sally left at 8:00 and Julie, late as usual, ran out fifteen minutes later. (Text 2) M:I don't often visit museums, but I like to whenever possible. W:I've never visited the Modern Museum, but I plan to tomorrow. (Text 3) W:Have you seen that huge new building going up near the market? M:Yes. I can't figure out what it's going to be. Not an apartment building? Not a hotel? Probably a department store. (Text 4) W:Is that maths course really as hard as everybody says? M:Worse. Believe it or not. (Text 5) M:Excuse me. I'm having trouble hearing in the back of the room. Did you say that your teaching assistant world correct final exams? W:No. I said that he would collect them. I'll correct them myself. (Text 6) M:What did you do last night then? Did you work all night? W:Yes, I did some work but I watched a bit of TV, too. M:Did you watch football? It was a great game. W:No, no, I didn't. I don't like football. M:Really? W:Yes. I really hate it. M:What did you see then? W:I saw the end of a film. It looked quite good actually. It's a pity I didn't turn it on earlier. It was a love story, you know, written by Shakespeare. It was about a boy and a girl who fell in love with each other but their families were fighting against each other. M:You mean, Romeo and Juliet? W:That's right. (Text 7) W:Good morning, Mr. Sharp. I'm really sorry I'm late. M:You're late every morning, Miss Smith. You were late on Tuesday, yesterday. Don't you have a watch? W:Yes, but it wasn't my mistake. I stood in the rain for an hour this morning, waited and waited for a bus, and then when one came, it was full. M:How about yesterday and the day before yesterday and…? W:Well, I came by taxi yesterday and… M:And you were still late! And Tuesday? W:Tuesday I went to see the doctor and I waited for my turn for about two hours. It was terrible. M:And tomorrow, Miss Smith? (Text 8) M:Hello. Are you the person who has a house for sale? W:Yes, I am. M:Well, the ad. in the paper says that it has four bedrooms and three baths, just what I need for my family of six. May I ask how much you want for it? W:I prefer not to mention a price over the phone, but let's say it's in the neighbour-hood of $50,000. I would also require a down payment of $10,000. Why don't you come by and take a look? M:Well, I'm not sure I could afford such a large down payment, but I don't guess it would hurt to see the house. If you can tell me how to get to Churchill Avenue from South Florida Street, my wife and I'll be over. (Text 9) M:Dr. Brook, I just don't know what's wrong with me. I always feel tired and weak. My wife finally persuaded me to visit you to find out what the trouble is. W:From what is written here I can see that you had a very bad cold three years ago and that you also had a small operation last year. Did you have any bad effect after that? M:Well, I don't remember. W:For example, how long did you stay at home each time you were ill? M:Just a couple of days, but about six months ago I was home for about two weeks with a cold or something. W:Did you see a doctor at that time, or did you just stay at home? M:No, I didn't see a doctor. When I began to feel better, I returned to work. W:And when did you start feeling so tired again? M:It must have been about ten days ago. When I came home from work one night, there just isn't seem to be any reason to go back the next day. W:Well, it sounds as if our problem may be the kind of work you do. The tests I just made don't show anything really wrong. But I would like to make some further tests in the hospital. M:That's fine with me. W:All right, you can check in tonight and I'll make the tests tomorrow morning. (Text 10) In order to know a foreign language thoroughly, four things are necessary. First, we must understand the language when we hear it spoken. Secondly, we must be able to speak it ourselves, correctly and directly. Thirdly, we must be able to read the language and fourthly, we must be able to write it. We must be able to make sentences that are grammatically correct. There is no easy way to success in language learning. A good memory will be a great help, but it is not enough only to memorize rules from a grammar book. It is not much use learning lists of words and their meanings, studying the dictionary and so on. We must learn to use the language. If we are satisfied with a few rules we have memorized, we are not really learning the language. "Learn through use" is a good piece of advice for those who are studying a new language. Practice is important. We must practise speaking and writing the language whenever we can. 三.答案 1-5 C A C B A 6-10 B A B C A 11-15 B A A C B 16-20 B C C A C。

Taxis were too expensive, we couldn’t understand the bus routes, and my wife didn’t like traveling on the underground. She said it made her feel sick.We went to look at the places which all tourists see. We saw Buckingham Palace and the National Gallery. We went shopping in Oxford Street and spent too much money. What we like most, though, was going to the theatre. We don’t have the chance to see such wonderful plays at home. A lot of people say English food is very bad. We didn’t think so,It’s true that most of the restaurants are French or Italian or Chinese, but we had some very good meals. In fact, we enjoyed our holiday so much that we have already booked again this year. (Text 5)Good evening. You are listening to Pop World of BCD International. I’m Susan Welch. Since many people want to listen to and understand pop songs, radio producers at BCD International have made hundreds of programs over the years. The History of Pop or The Road to Music brings you the language of pop music and information about the period and the artists. If you want to hear from the artists themselves, there’s a new series called About the Big Hits. This is based on interviews with popular singers and song writers. They talk to us about the meanings and ideas behind songs. If you want to understand the words to the big music hits, Pop Words is the program for you. After all, it’s hard enough for native English speakers to understand most pop songs. So, if English isn’t your first language, you shouldn’t be surprised if the words too many songs leave you in the dark.第二节:听取信息〔共5小题;每题1分,总分值5分〕听下面一段独白。
