A Language Programme for Teenagers
Welcome to Teenagers Abroad! We invite you to join us on an amazing journey of language learning.
Our Courses
Regardless of your choice of course, you'll develop your language ability both quickly and effectively.
Our Standard Course guarantees a significant increase in your confidence in a foreign language, with focused teaching in all 4 skill areas—speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Our Intensive Course builds on our Standard Course, with 10 additional lessons
Students are placed into classes according to their current language skills. The majority of them take an online language test before starting their programme. However, if this is not available, students sit the exam on the first Monday of their course.
Learning materials are provided to students throughout their course, and there will never be more than 15 participants in each class.
Arrivals and Transfer
Our programme offers the full package—students are taken good care of from the start through to the very end. They are collected from the airport upon arrival and brought to their accommodation in comfort. We require the student's full flight details at least 4 weeks in advance.
Meals/Allergies (过敏) /Special Dietary Requirements
Students are provided with breakfast, dinner and either a cooked or packed lunch (which consists of a sandwich, a drink and a dessert). Snacks outside of mealtimes may be purchased by the student individually.
We ask that you let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements as well as information about any medicines you take. Depending on the type of allergies and/or dietary requirements, an extra charge may be made for providing special food.

I had a lot of teachers that I loved. However, the teacher that I remember most was Mrs. Green from Marianna, Florida. She was my 5th grade teacher. Since I was a new student, not only in her class, but at the school, she made my time there much more pleasant. I immediately began to like her. She was really funny and I knew that she liked me. She made learning fun. I remember one day for Christmas holidays, she taught us how to make ornaments (装饰物) from eggs. My parents still have some of the ornaments I made.
She made me leader for many group projects and that made me feel special. I think that would make any child feel special, especially when a child is in a new place with no friends. She made me want to be like that. Not to pick a “favorite” student, but to make every student feel that they are special. That year,I received the Presidential Academic Award I was really proud and so were my parents.
Looking back at it, I think the reason why I did so well was that I felt important. Students do better when they feel like they are important or loved. Mrs. Green always gets to know her students and forms personal relationships with them, which I will try to do some day. I just hope that there will be a student who finds me to their favorite teacher as I found her to be mine.
26. The author's life in the new school was very ________.
A.happy B.common
C.hard D.boring
27.What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A.The author was once received by the President.
B.The author was Mrs. Green's favorite student.
C.The author was the pride of her parents.
D.The author always felt lonely in Mrs. Green's class.
28.What will the author probably do in the future?
A.Become a leader.
B.Become a teacher.
C.Become an artist.
D.Become the President.
根据第一段的句子“Since I was a new student, not only in her class, but at the school, she made my time there much more pleasant.”
故选A。
根据第二段的句子“I was really proud and so were my parents.”
Green always gets to know her students and forms personal relationships with them, which I will try to do some day. I just hope that there will be a student who finds me to their favorite teacher as I found her to be mine.”

It's a bicyclist's dream: a bike that can't be stolen. The Yerka, designed by three young Chilean engineering students, is the latest entry in a trend of bikes. They use their saddle seat as a lock. They can also use their handlebar(手柄)as a lock. But the inventors of the Yerka have made an improvement to it. The bike's lower frame opens up into two arms that are then connected to the seat post and locked to a post, so thieves would have to destroy a Yerka to get it unlocked.
“That's why our motto is ‘A bike that gets stolen is no longer a bike’. What we have here is truly an unstealable bike,” said Cristobal Cabello, who came up with the design during a college engineering class with childhood friends Andres Roi Eggers and Juan Jose Monsalve. In Chile and elsewhere in Latin America, the spread of cycling lanes, storage racks and bike share programs are encouraging people to change from cars to bikes, which are cheaper and environmentally friendly. Cristobal Galban said a study by his team in 2013 found that the use of bikes has doubled among Chileans in five years.
The main problem in Chile and elsewhere is robberies. The most effective strategy commonly used in London today is to take the bike into the office with the rider. Other strategies involve using a bike that looks so unattractive that nobody will want to steal it. But now the Yerka can help solve the problem.
Now, while waiting for the patent(专利)to be approved and carrying out more tests the team plans to raise funds. They're also looking for a partner who can invest $300,000 needed to poduce 1,000 bikes first that they hope will be sold by mid-2016.
29.Which of the following is NOT true about the Yerka in Paragraph 1?
A.It looks very attractive.
B.It aims at not being stolen.
C.It leads the new trend of bikes.
D.It uses its saddle seat as a lock.
30.According to Cristobal Cabello, it can be inferred that the Yerka ________.
A.will be safe if it is fully used
B.will be broken if it gets stolen
C.will be expensive if it gets repaired
D.will not be stolen even if it is unlocked
31.From the last paragraph, we can learn that the Yerka ________.
A.doesn't need a lot of money
B.can't be bought in the market yet
C.will be popular with bike riders
D.will be affordable for ordinary people
32.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Bikes in Chile can easily get stolen.
B.Chile is encouraging the use of bikes.
C.An expensive bike drew the world's attention.
D.Three Chileans designed an unstealable bike.

Do you find getting up in the morning so difficult that it's painful? This might be called laziness, but Dr. Kleitman has a new explanation. He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.
During the hours when you labor through your work you may say that you're “hot”. That's true. The time of day when you feel the most ene rgetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak. For some people the peak comes during the forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such familiar monologues (自言自语) as John talks to himself: “Get up, John! You'll be late for work again!” The possible explanation for the trouble is that John is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarrelling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has.
You can't change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life fit it better. Habit can help, Dr. Kleitman believes. Maybe you're sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Adjust your cycle to some extent by staying up later than you want to. If your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won't change your cycle, but you'll get up steam (打起精神) and work better at your low point.
Begin with a slow start which saves your energy. Get up with a slow yawn and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor.
Avoid the troublesome search for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. Whenever possible, do usual work in the afternoon and spend time doing important work for your high peak hours.
33.Which of the following may lead to family quarrels according to the passage?
A.A change in a family member's energy cycle.
B.Familiar monologues.
C.Unawareness of energy cycles.
D.Attempts to control the energy cycle of other family members.
34.If one wants to work better at his low point in the morning, he should ________.
A.change his energy cycle
B.go to bed earlier
C.overcome his laziness
D.get up earlier than usual
35.You are advised to rise with a yawn and stretch because it will ________.
A.help you to control your temper early in the day
B.help to keep your energy for the day's work
C.enable you to concentrate on your routine work
D.keep your energy cycle under control all day

Most drinks stating that they are fruit flavored contain no fruit at all, while most of the rest contain only a small quantity of fruit, according to a study carried by the British Food Commission.
“Shoppers need to check the labels before buying drinks, though sometimes the actual contents can be nonexistent,”said Food Commission spokesperson lan Tokelove. “Food production is highly competitive.__36__ It will increase profits, and consumers won't always realize they are being tricked.”
Flavorings are focused on the flavors of natural food products such as fruits, meats and vegetables, or creating flavor for food products that do not have the desired flavors. Researchers analyzed the contents of 28 strawberry flavored products sold in stores.__37__ Of the 11 products that did contain strawberries, five of them contained less than one percent real fruit. In addition, each juice box contained nearly eight teaspoons of sugar.
__38__ Let's take jam as an example. Some strawberry flavored jam was labeled as containing no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners, but it contained absolutely no strawberries at all.
__39__ Consumers have the rights to know clearly about what they have bought. Under current UK law, food packages do not have to distinguish between natural and artificial flavoring.“Describing a product as strawberry flavor and covering the surface of the packet with pictures of strawberries is misleading.__40__ Unfortunately, it is also legal and widespread,”Tokelove said. “It's time to take measures to protect the consumers' rights.”
A.They found that about 60 percent of them didn't contain any fruit at all.
B.Even products advertised as more natural often contained no fruit.
C.The products which contain real fruit are popular with people.
D.Actually the product contains just a tiny percentage of strawberry or even no fruit at all.
E.It is important and necessary to demand a small amount of flavoring in the products.
F.If companies can cut their costs by using flavoring, they are likely to do so.
G.The Food Commission suggested all flavors used in a product should be listed on the packaging.
从后句中的was labeled as containing no artificial colors, but it contained absolutely no strawberries at all.
也就是Consumers have the rights和The Food Commission是同一范畴词汇对应;第二层对应为:选项中的空后的clearly和空中的should be listed
on the packaging为对应关系。

so+ad v.+that...
sorry常和but连用,此处的but 是引出话题,表转折,故填but。
64.if /whether考查宾语从句。
allow sb. to do sth.
fill...with...
67.Seeing
________ (see) the suitcase, 这部分是修饰后面的“St. Peter said, “Hold on,..”这个句子的,所以作状语,表时间。
因为动词see 和句子的主语St. Peter是主动关系,故用现在分词作状语,表主动,故填Seeing。
68.permission
69.that/which考查定语从句。
在本句中“...the things ________the man found too precious to leave behind”,空后面的句子是修饰前面的名词things,作名词的定语的。
70.is made考查固定词组。
be made of 是固定词组,意思是:由……

A week before Earth Day, posters were put up around our school, calling upon us to join in the actions for a greener earth.
Our class came up with the idea to make better use of used materials. We brought to our classroom worn-out clothes, pieces of cardboard and empty plastic bottles, and turned those into dolls, handbags, tissue boxes and small vases. That weekend, we went to a nearby neighborhood and gave them away to the people there. All were very happy with those unexpected gifts, especially little kids and elderly people. We did so well that we were invited to share our idea and experience with all the students of our school.
We are very proud of ourselves and believe we can do more for a better world.

Failure is probably the most exhausting experience a person ever has. There is nothing more tiring than not succeeding.
We experience this tiredness in two ways: as start-up fatigue (疲惫) and performance fatigue. In the former case, we keep putting off a task because it is either too boring or too difficult. And the longer we delay it, the more tired we feel.
Such start-up fatigue is very real, even if not actually physical, not something in our muscles and bones. The solution is obvious though perhaps not easy to apply: always handle the most difficult job first.
Years ago, I was asked to write 102 essays on the great ideas of some famous authors. Applying my own rule, I determined to write them in alphabetical order (按字母顺序), never letting myself leave out a tough idea. And I always started the day's work with the difficult task of essay-writing. Experience proved that the rule works.
Performance fatigue is more difficult to handle. Though willing to get started, we cannot seem to do the job right. Its difficulties appear so great that, however hard we work, we fail again and again. In such a situation, I work as hard as I can—then let the unconscious take over.
When planning EncyclopaediaBritannica (《大英百科全书》) , I had to create a table of contents based on the topics of its articles. Nothing like this had ever been done before, and day after day I kept coming up with solutions, but none of them worked. My fatigue became almost unbearable.
One day, mentally exhausted, I wrote down all the reasons why this problem could not be solved. I tried to convince myself that the trouble was with the problem itself, not with me. Relieved, I sat back in an easy chair and fell asleep.
An hour later, I woke up suddenly with the solution clearly in mind. In the weeks that followed, the solution which had come up in my unconscious mind proved correct at every step. Though I worked as hard as before, I felt no fatigue. Success was now as exciting as failure had been depressing.
Human beings, I believe, must try to succeed. Success, then, means never feeling tired.
