Needless to say, it was too hot to do anything outside. But it was also scorching in our apartment. This was 1962, and I would not live in a place with an air conditioner for another ten years. So my brother and I decided to leave the apartmentto find someplace indoors. He suggested we could see a movie. It was a brilliant plan.Movie theaters were one of the few places you could sit all day and —most important —sit in air conditioning. In those days, you could buy one ticket and sit through two movies. Then, the theater would show the same two movies again. If you wanted to, you could sit through them twice. Most people did not do that, but the manager at our theater. Mr. Bellow did not mind if you did. That particular day, my brother and I sat through both movies twice, trying to escape the heat.We bought three bags of popcorn and three sodas each. Then, we sat and watched The Music Man followed by The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. We’dalready seen the second movie once before. It had been at the theater since January, because Mr. Bellow loved anything with John Wayne in it.We left the theater around 8, just before the evening shows began. Over twobillion people worldwide now have access to vastly more information than ever before, and cancommunicate with each other instantly, often using Web-connected mobile devices they carryeverywhere. The New Digital Age.Perhaps the most profound changes will come when the five billion people worldwide whocurrently lack Internet access get online. The authors do an excellent job of examining theimplications of the Internet revolution for individuals, governments, and institutions like the newsmedia. But if the book has one major shortcoming, it ’thsat authors don’stpend enough timeapplying a critical eye to the role of Internet businesses in these weeping changes. In their book, the authors provide the most authoritative volume to date that describes —andmore importantly predicts —how the Internet will shape our lives in the coming decades. Theypaint a picture of a world in which individuals, companies, institutions, and governments mustdeal with two realities, one physical, and one virtual. At the core of the book is the idea that “technology is neutral, but people aren ’t. ”By using this concept as a starting point, the authors aim to move beyond the now familiar optimist vs.pessimist dichotomy( 对立观点)that has characterized many recent debates about whether the riseof the Internet will ultimately be good or bad for society. In an interview with TIME earlier thisweek, Cohen said although he and his co-author are optimistic about many aspects of the Internet, they ’re also realistic about the risks and dangers that lie ahead when the next five billion peoplecome online, particularly with respect to personal privacy and state surveillance( 监视).11. It does not address the technical aspects of Internet communication.14. What will the future be like when everybody gets online?A. People will be living in two different realities.B. People will have equal access to information.C. People don ’t have to travel to see the world.D. People don ’t have to communicate face to face.15. I. Reading Comprehension(本题共 20 小题,每题 2 分共 40 分)Directions: There are 4 reading passages in this part. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four suggested answers marked A.B.C and D. Choose the best answer to each question.Passage OneIf one is asked about the best way to improve one's reading ability, it is of course, to read. As a student, you must make a real effort to improve both your reading speed and your comprehension. Too many students read passively and without judgment; they simply start at the first word and read through to the end. You should read a passage actively, selectively and purposefully. You must believe that you indeed have the ability to read faster and understand more, and that you will.Reading, like everything else in life, is best done when you are relaxed. The key to improve it is concentration. You must be willing to break some old habits and form new ones. Extra body movement, such as turning the head from side to side, pointing at the line with a finger or a pencil, or moving the lips, should be stopped immediately. Reading is mostly a mental process and body movement helps neither speed nor comprehension. Then you shouldsee words as part of a whole sentence or paragraph, not just in isolation. This is why a slow, word-by-word student often understands far less, missing much of the joy and excitement of reading. The student must learn to improve reading skills on their own, and not just when a teacher is looking over his shoulder. Reading improvement takes discipline and effort. Don't give up.1.If you want to improve your reading ability, you should .A. read each word in the passage carefullyB. read with choice, purpose and confidenceC. start at the first wordD. read a passage completely from the beginning to the end2.The best title of the passage might be “”.A. How to Improve Your Reading AbilityB. How to Cultivate Good Habits in ReadingC. Developing Reading MethodsD. Getting Rid of Your Bad Habits While Reading3.Best reading efficiency can be achieved if one .A. reads paragraph by paragraphB. reads in great detailC. reads with focusD. reads as fast as possible4.According to the author, all the following are the bad habits in reading EXCEPT.A. moving the lipsB. pointing at words with somethingC. holding a book in handsD. turning the head from side to side5.The phrase "looking over his shoulder" in Paragraph 3 may best be replaced by “”.A. watching himB. examining his shoulderC. encouraging himD. looking at someone behind himPassage TwoOur memories can be both sweet and bitter. Many people spend all their lives to forget those bitter ones. Violence and traffic accidents, esp. can leave people with terrible physicaland emotional scars. Often they relive these experiences in nightmares. Now American researchers are developing a pill which will help people forget bad memories. The pill is designed to be taken immediately after a frightening experience. They hope it might reduce, or possibly erase, the effect of painful memories. In November, experts tested a drug on people in the US and France. The drug stops the body from releasing chemicals that fix memories in the brain. So far the research has suggested that only the emotional effects of memories may be reduced, not that the memories are erased. The research has caused a great deal of argument. Some think it is a bad idea, while others support it.Supporters say it could lead to pills that prevent or treat soldiers' troubling memories after war. They say that there are many people who suffer from terrible memories."Some memories can ruin people's lives. They come back to you when you don't want to have them in a daydream or nightmare. They usually come with very painful emotions." said Roger Pit man, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. "This could relieve a lot of that suffering."But those who are against the research say that changing memories is very dangerous because memories give us our identity(特质). They also help us all avoid the mistakes of the past."All of us can think of bad events in our lives that were horrible at the time but make us who we are. I'm not sure we want to wipe those memories out." said Rebecca Dresser, a medical ethicist.6.The passage is mainly about .A. a new medical inventionB. an argument about the research on the pillC. a way of erasing painful memoriesD. a new research on the pill7.American researchers are developing a pill to .A. comfort those people who are in a frightening experienceB. help those people to forget their frightening experienceC. persuade those people to forget their frightening experienceD. test those people's degree of fright in a frightening experience8.The drug tested on people can .A. prevent the body from producing certain chemicalsB. relieve people of the mental tensionC. cause the brain to fix memoriesD. wipe out the memories of bad experiences9.We can infer from the passage that .A. people supporting the research believe that the pill will stop people's bad experiencesB. people supporting the research believe the pill will help people to reduce the harm caused by bad experiencesC. people against the research believe that the effect of the pills may not bed desirableD. people against the research believe that the pill will cause them to make mistakes10. Which of the following does Rebecca Dresser agree with?A. Some memories can ruin people's lives.B. People want to get rid of bad memories.C. The pill will reduce people's suffering from bad memories.D. Experiencing bad events makes us different from others.Passage ThreeLarge modern cities are too big to control. They impose their own living conditions on the people who live in them. Persons living in cities are obliged by their environment to take a wholly unnatural way of life. They lose touch with the land and the rhythm of the nature. It is possible to live such an air-conditioned existence that you are barely conscious of the seasons. A few flowers in a public park (if you have time to visit it) may remind you that it is spring or summer. A few leaves clinging to the pavement may remind you that it is autumn. Beyond that, what is going on in nature seems totally irrelevant. All the simple, good things of life like sunshine and fresh air are difficult to obtain. and therefore are highly valued. Traffic fumes pollute the atmosphere. Tall building hide the sun completely. Even the distinction between day and night is lost.rge modem cities impose their living condition on people in thatA. sunshine and fresh air are availableB. living conditions are improvedC. beautiful landscape can be foundD. air-conditioned houses are provided12.Which is NOT one of the reasons why city life is not more desirable?A. Tall buildings hide the sun completely.B. Modern cities are too big to control.C. Modern cities offer better schools and more chances of employment.D. People are barely conscious of the seasons.13.According to the passage, the following can be the reasons for the loss of distinction between day and night except thatA. persons living in cities live in air-conditioned housesB. people lose touch with the natureC. people are traveling through different time zonesD. the sun was hidden from view by tall buildings14.If you want to know what season it is,A. it is advisable for you to live in an air-conditioned houseB. you'd better visit a public parkC. you should go out to see the sunshine and breathe the fresh airD. you should walk on the pavement15.Which statement is NOT true according to the passage?A. Large modern cities are too big to controlB. Sunshine and fresh air are rare in large modern cities.C. There are many disadvantages of living in large modern cities.D. All the simple, good things of life are imposed on the people who live in large cities.Passage FourRobots in use now are taking over the blue-collar jobs of less educated Americans, but artificial intelligence (AI) is probably ready to shake up college-educated employees in higher-paying jobs. This will leave no worker unaffected by the influence of technology on the American workforce.AI is generally regarded as programming computers to do things that normally require human intelligence-tasks such as planning, learning, reasoning and problem-solving. Muro, asenior fellow at the Brookings Institute, and his colleagues analyzed which jobs would be the most highly affected by artificial intelligence. What they learned is that almost every profession will feel Al's effects. But it’s hard to predict whether AI will take the place of more highly skilled workers in the same way robots have done to lower-skilled workers. AI might create entirely new jobs for humans. "We can't really say whether AI will lead to the support of work or its opposite. Both things could happen." says Muro.Jobs performed by people with a four-year college degree could be the hardest hit. These include market research analysts, sales managers, programmers, management analysts and engineers. Positions that are heavily involved in pattern-oriented or “predictive work” are more likely to be affected, according to the analysis.Of course, this is not the first time American workers have been influenced or potentially influenced by technology. The challenge, as Muro sees, it is to determine how humans can add value. He believes that human beings are durable in the face of new technologies. The question is how to help people accept training again, seek new work, and how they can adjust to it, or if their careers break down from this, how to provide a better social safety net.16.Who can AI affect most in the American workforce?A. Senior workers.B. Blue-collar workers.C. More-educated employees.D. Inexperienced employees.17.What did Muro and his colleagues find out?A. AI is considered as programming computers to complete tasks.B. AI can deal with tasks such as planning and reasoning.C. AI is better at problem-solving than humans.D. AI can affect almost every field.18.What can we infer from what Muto says?A. AI will replace some skilled workers.B. AI will play as a double-edged sword.C. AI will develop in the same way as robots.D. AI will create entirely new jobs for humans.19.Which of the following positions are NOT likely to be replaced by AI?A. Management analysts.B. Sales managers.C. Programmers.D. Fashion designers.20.What should human beings do in face of the challenges posed by AI?A. Use their potential to adjust to it.B. Work harder than before.C. Wait for another opportunity.D. Learn to be durable.II. Vocabulary and Structure ( 本题共 15 小题,每题 1 分,共 15 分 )Directions: For each of the following sentences there are four choices marked A.B.C and D. 2024五年制师范类专转本英语模拟试卷
2024五年制师范类专转本英语模拟试卷English:1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in the classroom? The use of technology in the classroom has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, technology can enhance the learning process by providing students with access to more diverse and up-to-date information. It can also make the learning experience more engaging and interactive, as students can use multimedia tools to explore concepts in depth and collaborate with their peers. Additionally, technology can help improve the efficiency of teachers by enabling them to manage and assess student performance more easily. On the other hand, technology can be a distraction for students, leading to a decrease in their attention span and overall performance. Moreover, technology can promote a passive learning environment where students rely on the internet and other resources rather thanactively participating in the learning process. Additionally, not all students have equal access to technology, which can lead to further disparities in learning outcomes between students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. In conclusion, while technology can provide many benefits in the classroom, it is essential to balance its use with traditional teaching methods and ensure that all students have equal access to these resources.中文翻译:在课堂上利用技术有其优势和缺点。

Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four suggested answers marked A, B, C and D. Choose the best answer to each question.Passage OneWhen John and Victoria Falls arrived in New York City for one-year stay, they did not bring very many things with them. They had planned either to live in a furnished apartment or to buy used furniture. But they soon learned about a new system that more and more people are using. The renting of home furnishings (bed, tables, dishes, and so on) has become one of America's fastest growing businesses. What kinds of people rent their home furnishings instead of buying them? People who are international business or government officials, foreign students, airline workers, young married couples—people whose job or business may force them to move frequently from one city to another. They save a lot of trouble and the cost of moving their furniture each time. They simply rent new furniture when they reach their new homes . Young people with little money do not want to buy cheap furniture that they may soon dislike. They prefer to wait until they have enough money to buy furniture they really like. Meanwhile, they find they can rent better quality furniture than they could afford to buy.One family, who now have a large, beautiful home of their own, liked their rented furniture so much that they decided to keep renting it instead of buying new things. But usually people don't like to tell others about it. The idea of renting home furnishings is still quite new, and they are not sure what their neighbors might think.1.Which of the following has become one of America's fastest growing businesses?A. The institute opened its doors last year, and, since then, men and women of all ages have been paying $140 for lessons on how to feel happy. “You can actually increase your happiness levels. That's what we teach," said Timothy Sharp, founder of the institute. Experts say that only about 15 percent of happiness comes from income, assets and other financial factors. As much as 85 percent comes from things such as attitude, life control and relationships. Most of us have more money than our parents and grandparents, but happiness levels haven't changed to reflect that. Studies show that once the basic needs of shelter and food aremet, additional wealth adds very little to happiness. Part of the reason we are richer but not happier is because we compare ourselves to people better off materially. “The argument is that if you want to be happy there's a very simple thing you can do: Compare yourself to people who are less well off than you.” said Sharp. The Happiness Institute aims to show you how to overcome these unhappiness factors by focusing on “more than just your bank account.” “If Icompare myself to Bill Gates then I'm always going to be down,” said Sharp. A better thing to compare with, he said, might be Kerry Packer, Australia's richest person who has had a kidney transplant and heart surgery in recent years.6. The main purpose of the Happiness Institute is to ________ (Para.1).A. teach you how to increase your happiness levels.B. teach you how to be better-off financially.C. help you find the right partner of your life.D. help you understand the importance of wealth to happiness.7. Most of the happiness comes from ________.A. incomeB. assetsC. attitudeD.food8. Which of the following is true?A. Just as we are richer than our parents and grandparents, so we are happier.B. Happiness levels have been increasing since the days of our parents and grandparents.C. The key to happiness is to get as rich as possible.D. Additional wealth adds little to happiness if the basic needs for shelter and food are met.9. How can you increase your happiness levels?A. Always focus on enlarging your bank account.B. Compare yourself to people who are less well off than you are.C. Try to earn more money than others.D. Compare yourself to Bill Gates.10. What is this passage mainly about?A. Ways to maintain a happy marriage.B. Ways to take care of your assets.C. Increasing your happiness levels by earning more money.D. How non-financial factors add to your happiness.Passage ThreeIn the United States, when one becomes rich, he wants people to know it. And even if he does not become very rich, he wants people to think that he is. That is what “keeping up with the Joneses” is about. It is the story of someone who tried to look as rich as his neighbors. The expression was first used in 1913 by a young American called Arthur Momand. He told this story about himself . He began earning $125 a week at the age of 23. That was a lot of money in those days. He got marriedand moved with his wife to a very rich neighborhood outside New York City. When he saw that rich people rode horses. Momand went riding horses every day. When he saw that rich people had servants. Momand and his wife also hired a servant and gave big parties for their new neighbors. It was like a race, but one could never finish his race because one was always trying to keep up. The race ended for Momand and his wife when they could no longer pay for their new way of life. They moved back to an apartment in New York City.Momand looked around him and noticed that many people do things just to keep up with rich lifestyle of their neighbors. He saw the funny side of it and started to write a series of short stories. He called it “Keeping up with the Joneses” because “Jones” is a very common name in the United States. “Keeping up with the Joneses” came to mean keeping up with rich lifestyle of the people around you. His series were very popular at that time.People never seem to get tired of keeping up with the Joneses. And there are “Joneses” in every city of the world. 2024年五年一贯制专转本考试英语校考
2024年五年一贯制专转本考试英语校考全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Big English Exam AdventureHooray, it's finally time for my big English exam! I've been studying so hard for this test that lets kids like me go from the 5-year special program right into a university. My parents keep telling me how important it is and that I need to do my best. I really want to make them proud!I had to wake up super early this morning to get ready. My mom made me a big breakfast with all my favorite foods to give me lots of energy for the test. As I was eating, I kept going over vocabulary words and grammar rules in my head. Things like past participles, conditional sentences, and relative clauses. Ugh, English has so many little details to remember! Finally it was time to head to the exam site. I double and triple checked that I had multiple pencils, an eraser, and my admission ticket. The test was being held at the local high school, which seemed like a pretty big and intimidating place. My palms were getting sweaty just thinking about it.When we arrived there were lots of other students my age along with their parents. Everyone looked just as nervous as me. We had to get there really early to go through the check-in process and get seated with our testing materials. The exam monitors kept reminding us to double check that we had the right section numbers and seat assignments. I didn't want to make any mistakes!Eventually they let us into the exam room and I found my little desk. It seemed so tiny compared to the big rooms we had practice tests in. I tried to stay calm and focused as they went through MORE instructions and rules about keeping your eyes on your own paper, how to fill out the answer sheets properly, and all that stuff. Finally, after what felt like forever, they told us to begin the reading section. This part actually wasn't too bad since I've always been a strong reader. There were some tricky vocabulary words I didn't recognize, but I've learned lots of strategies for using context clues to figure out the meanings. The questions about the main ideas and details from the passages seemed pretty straightforward.Next up was the writing section where we had to write an essay on some topic about environmental protection. Writinghas never been my strongest area, but I tried my best to construct a clear thesis statement and organize my paragraphs with good examples and explanations. I just had to keep telling myself not to panic about silly little grammar mistakes. The listening comprehension was definitely the hardest part for me. My ears haven't quite adjusted to understanding natural English speech yet. I struggled to catch all the details as the recordings played the conversations and lectures. For the questions I wasn't sure about, I just had to make my best guess. Ugh, I probably got a bunch of those wrong.By the time we got to the speaking section at the very end, I was already feeling pretty mentally drained. But I had to power through and do my best on describing the pictures and answering the open-ended questions. I rambled on a bit for some of them, so I really hope the graders could at least understand what I was trying to say.Whew, finally after what felt like an eternity, the examwas over! My hand was cramped from filling in those tiny bubbles for hours and hours. As I was walking out with my parents, I overheard some of the other kids saying how terribly they thought they did. That didn't make me feel much better about my own performance. Now it's just a nerve-racking waiting game until the scores come out in a couple months. My parents keep trying to reassure me that I'll be fine no matter what happens. Easy for them to say since they're not the ones who had to sit through that marathon test!Part of me just wants to be done with this whole stressful process. But another part of me really, really hopes I get a high enough score to get into a great university program. That would make all this hard work and anxiety totally worth it. Only time will tell, I guess! At least for now I can just relax, play outside, and be a kid again without constantly worrying about English prepositions and subjunctive moods and stuff. No more studying for a little while! Although...maybe I should start reading ahead for next year, just to get a headstart. After all, you can never be too prepared, right?篇2The Big English Test for Big KidsWow, did you hear about the huge English test that all the big kids have to take this year? It's called the 5-year undergraduate program transfer exam and it's super important! My big sister Jessica is going to take it and she's been studying like crazy. She showed me some of the practice questions the other day and they looked really hard. There was all this reading about science and history and stuff that I didn't understand at all. And then there were logic questions where you had to figure out puzzles and patterns. No way could I do those yet!The writing section seemed a little easier though. They gave a prompt about your favorite book and you had to write a whole essay about it. I could probably write a few paragraphs about Green Eggs and Ham at least!Jessica said the speaking part is one of the hardest sections. You have to talk to a computer for like 10 minutes straight about random topics. Could you even imagine?? I can hardly make it through show-and-tell without getting tongue-tied!The listening comprehension looks crazy too. They play all these recordings of people talking about complicated ideas and you have to answer million questions about the details. I'd just get lost after the first 30 seconds, let's be real. But you know what the craziest part is? The whole thing is in English from start to finish! No Chinese at all! I can barely say"hello" and "thank you" in English. I don't know how Jessica and her friends are going to make it through 4 hours of reading, writing, speaking and listening in a completely foreign language. Their brains must be super powerful.I was telling my friend Tommy about it at recess yesterday and he said his older brother is also taking the exam. Tommy said we should make them good luck cards with lots of stickers and drawings to help cheer them on. I think that's a great idea! Maybe if we believe in them really hard, it will help give their brains a boost for test day.Either way, I'm sure glad I don't have to worry about any of that English exam nonsense for at least a few more years. I'll stick to smashing rocks and collecting worms for now. Ya know, kid stuff! Although...it would be kind of cool to become fluent in another language someday. Hey Jessica, can you teach me some more English words this weekend?!篇3The Big Scary English ExamWow, I can't believe the time has come for me to take the big scary English exam! My older brother took it last year when he was trying to get into the 5-year university program, and hesaid it was really hard. I'm kind of nervous, but also excited. I've been studying English ever since I was a tiny kid, and now I get to show what I've learned. My teacher Ms. Wang has been helping us get ready for months. We've been doing lots of practice tests and learning all the grammar rules. There's so many weird things to remember, like when to use "will" instead of "going to", and how to make the passive voice. Sometimes my head spins trying to keep it all straight! The exam has four big sections - listening, reading, writing, and speaking. I think listening will be the hardest part for me. You have to listen really carefully to recordings and conversations and answer questions about them. The recordings always seem to go by so fast! I need to work on my note-taking skills.Reading is probably my strongest area. I've read lots of English stories and even some simple novels. As long as I concentrate and don't zone out, I should be able to handle the reading comprehension questions okay. The writing section makes me a bit worried though. We have to write an essay during the test, and it's tough to organize all my ideas in English still. I'll need to outline carefully.Speaking is the section I'm most excited about! We'll have to answer questions and describe pictures and situations out loud. Even though it's nerve-wracking, I actually like speaking English. I think it's because I've watched so many movies and shows in English over the years. I'm pretty confident with my pronunciation. No matter what happens, I'm going to give this test my best shot. Getting into the 5-year university program would be amazing. It would put me on the path to going to one of the top universities in the whole country after 5 years of hard work. I could study anything I want - maybe coding and robotics, or international business, or environmental science. The world would be my oyster!Ms. Wang keeps telling us not to be scared, that we'rewell-prepared. She says as long as we don't panic and use our test-taking strategies, we'll do great. Things like underlining key words in the questions, making outlines before writing essays, and keeping an eye on the clock. Tests like these are just about following the instructions carefully.I'm trying hard to stay positive, but I can't help feeling a bit of pressure. My whole future sort of depends on this one exam. What if I get test anxiety and freeze up? Or what if I misread aquestion and give a totally wrong answer? One silly mistake could maybe ruin everything. No, no, I shouldn't think that way! Positive thoughts, deep breaths...The big day is coming up this weekend. I've laid out my sharpened pencils and good-luck charms. My mom is going to make my favorite noodle dish as a pre-exam meal. I'll go to bed early and get plenty of rest. When I wake up, I'll do some light exercise to get my blood pumping. Then it'll be time to grab my jacket and head to the exam site.As I step through those classroom doors, I'll push aside any nervous feelings. This exam may be scary, but I'm ready. It's my turn to show what I can do in English after years of studying. All those vocabulary lists, grammar lessons, and practice tests have prepared me. I'm going to stay focused and confident, and pour all my effort into doing my best. After it's all over, winor lose, I'll be proud of myself for trying my hardest. And no matter what, I'm not going to stop working towards my dreams. If I don't make it into the program this time, I'll just try again next year. You can't keep this kid down!Having an unshakeable spirit is important. With determination and perseverance, any obstacle can be overcome. That's what Ms. Wang is always telling our class. So I'll keepstudying, keep improving my English, and keep aiming for the stars. Maybe someday I'll even get to use my English skills to travel the world! How awesome would that be?For now though, I need to pause my fantasies about being an international explorer. There's an English exam with my name on it, coming up very soon. Time to take some deep breaths, relax, and get ready to show what I know. Let's do this!篇4My Big Important English TestHi there! My name is Jimmy and I'm 10 years old. I just took a really big and important test and I want to tell you all about it. It was the English part of the exam for transferring into a five-year undergraduate program after finishing elementary school. Phew, that's a mouthful! But it's a really big deal. You see, in our country, after you finish elementary school you can take this huge test. If you do really well, you can skip going to regular middle school and high school. Instead, you go right into a special five-year college program! That means you finish university super fast. How cool is that? But the test is no joke. It's crazy hard with all kinds of subjects like math, science, history and more. The English part might have been the toughest for me though. I've been studying English for years but this exam was next level! It started off with a listening section. They played all these conversations and lectures and we had to answer multiple choice questions about what we heard. There were talks about science stuff like black holes and biology topics I'd never heard of. Then there were casual conversations that used slang words I didn't know. My ears were ringing by the end!Next up was the reading section, which was just as brutal. We had to read a million passages and answer comprehension questions on everything from classic literature to super technical science journals. Some of those vocabulary words were crazy –I'd never seen half of them before in my life! There were even reading passages that had no question, we just had to summarize the main ideas in our own words. My hand was cramping from all the writing. Then we had to write two essays, one arguing an opinion and one analyzing an issue. For my opinion essay, I wrote about why kids should get less homework. I laid out my arguments and tried to explain with examples and reasoning like they taught us.For the issue essay, I had to analyze both sides of whether zoos are good or bad for animals. I did my best to discuss the pros and cons objectively from multiple perspectives. After that writing marathon, we still had an English grammar and usage section to tackle. We had to identify errors in sentences, re-write incorrect phrases, and show we understood stuff like parallel structure, modifiers, and verb tense consistency. It made my brain hurt just thinking about objects of prepositions and dangling participles and whatnot.By the end of it all, I was exhausted! My pencil was just a stub from filling in so many bubbles and my hand felt like it might fall off after all that writing. Phew!I really hope I did ok on the test. My parents are riding on me to get a good enough score to start that five-year college program. It would be so awesome to become an undergraduate at just 15 years old! I'd be done with my bachelor's degree when I'm 20. Then I could start working or go to grad school at a young age. The possibilities are endless if I can just conquer this crazy English exam.I tried my absolute best, using all the strategies my teachers taught me for listening, reading, writing, and grammar. I budgeted my time, eliminated wrong answer choices, outlinedmy essays, and really gave it my all. I'll be nervously waiting for weeks to get my score back. Wish me luck!In the meantime, I'm gonna take a nice long nap. Then maybe celebrate a little with some video games and pizza. No more English practice for at least a little while! I've got to rest up for middle school entrance exams next year if I don't get into the five-year program. No slacking for us students!Well, that's the full scoop on my big important English exam. It was no walk in the park, that's for sure. But I survived! Here's hoping all that hard work pays off. An elementary kid can dream of becoming an undergrad at 15, right? Catch you later!篇5School is Fun But Tests are No Joke!Hi there! My name is Lucy and I'm a fifth grader at Sunnyview Elementary School. I really like going to school and seeing my friends every day. We have lots of fun playing at recess and doing cool projects in class. But then there's thenot-so-fun part...tests! My teachers are always telling us how important it is to do well on tests, especially the big important ones. This year, some of the older kids at my school have to take a really big test called the English examination for the five-yearintegrated master's program transfer. That's a huge mouthful, I know!My older brother Jeremy is in 8th grade and he has been studying like crazy to get ready for this test. He keeps borrowing my colored pencils and note cards to make flashcards and practice English words and grammar rules. I tried to tease him about being such a nerd, but he got all serious on me. "Lucy, this test could decide my whole future!" he said with a frown. "If I don't do well, I might not get into the high school program I want for preparing to apply to top universities later." Wow, talk about pressure!I felt kind of bad for Jeremy after that. He's such a good student and works so hard. I decided to ask my English teacher Mrs. Roberts to tell me more about this huge important test. She said it's given every year to 8th graders who want to try to get into academically elite high school tracks that lead to five-year master's degree programs at top universities. Only the students with the very best scores get to continue on that path. The test has listening, reading, writing, and speaking sections that are all in English. It covers vocabulary, grammar, comprehending passages, essay writing, pronunciation, and more. Just thinking about all that makes my head spin!Mrs. Roberts said the listening part requires students to listen to recordings of conversations or lectures and answer multiple choice questions showing they understood the main ideas and details. The reading has long passages from books, newspapers, or magazines that students have to read and then answer questions testing their comprehension. For the writing, students have to write one or two full essays in English on an assigned topic in a certain amount of time. Yikes! And for the speaking section, they get asked a bunch of random questions that they have to respond to out loud to show their English fluency. No wondering Jeremy has been drilling vocabulary words 24/7!I could never imagine having to take a test like that at my age. It sounds incredibly difficult and SO much pressure. Jeremy keeps saying if he doesn't get a top score, his dream of getting into an elite university program will be crushed. I'm just glad I'm a kid and only have to worry about taking baby tests like spelling bees and times table quizzes! Phew! I'll be cheering my big bro on from the sidelines though. Fighting, Jeremy! You've got this!Anyway, that's the scoop on the big bad English examination from the perspective of a clueless little kid. I'll leave the real serious test taking to the middle schoolers. For now, I'm justgoing to go play some tetherball and enjoy my last few years of childhood freedom before I'm a test-crazed adolescent too. The struggle is real, my friends! Make sure to get lots of sleep and eat a good breakfast on test days though. Wishing all you test warriors the very best of luck!篇6My Exciting Experience at the 2024 Five-Year Integrated Program Entrance ExamHello, everyone! Today, I want to share with you my incredible experience at the 2024 Five-Year Integrated Program Entrance Exam. It was a special day filled with excitement and challenges. Let's dive into my journey! The day started with butterflies in my stomach. I woke up early, feeling a mix of nervousness and anticipation. I quickly got ready, put on my lucky socks, and had a healthy breakfast to fuel my brain. I knew that the exam was an important step towards my dream of becoming a university student. As I arrived at the exam venue, I was greeted by a sea of enthusiastic young minds. The atmosphere was electric, and I could feel the determination in the air. We were all ready to showcase our knowledge and abilities. The first part of the exam was English. I love English, so I was excited to show off my language skills. The test consisted of various sections, including reading comprehension, grammar, and writing. In the reading comprehension section, we had to read interesting passages and answer questions about them. I tried to stay focused and carefully analyze each passage before choosing the correct answers.Next came the grammar section. It tested our understanding of English grammar rules. We had to fill in the blanks with the appropriate words or phrases. Some questions were a bit tricky, but I remembered the grammar lessons I had learned over the years and gave my best shot. The most challenging part for me was the writing section. We were given a topic and had to write an essay about it. The topic was "The Importance of Friendship." I thought about my best friend and how much they meant to me. I poured my heart into the essay, expressing my thoughts and experiences. I tried to use descriptive words and organize my ideas neatly. Time flew by, and before I knew it, the writing section was over. After a short break, we moved on to the mathematics section. Math has always been a bit tricky for me, but I stayed positive and confident. The questions ranged from basicarithmetic to more complex problem-solving. I took my time, carefully reading each question and using the strategies I had learned. I felt a sense of accomplishment with each correct answer. The final part of the exam was the science section. We were tested on various scientific concepts, including biology, physics, and chemistry. I found the questions fascinating, as they challenged my understanding of the world around me. I recalled the experiments and discussions we had in class and applied that knowledge to the questions. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the exam came to an end. I felt a mix of relief and pride in completing the challenging test. I knew that I had given it my all and that the results would reflect my efforts. Now, as I eagerly await the results, I can't help but reflect on the journey I've been on. The Five-Year Integrated Program has provided me with a solid foundation and prepared me for this moment. The exam was a stepping stone towards my dream of attending university and pursuing my passions. No matter what the results may be, I am proud of myself for taking on this challenge. The exam has taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of continuouslearning. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the chance to grow as a student and as an individual. So, fellow young learners, always believe in yourself and never be afraid to take on new challenges. With determination and a positive attitude, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Good luck to all of you on your own exciting journeys! That's all for now. Thank you for listening to my story. Remember, dreams do come true if you work hard and never give up!。

The maddened beast jumped out of the water and broke the boat into pieces. When the survivors were picked up, James Bartley was missing.Shortly before sunset, the whale was finally caught. Otherwise, the meat would begin to rot and the oil would begin to spoil. When they got to the stomach, they felt something moving about wildly. They thought it would be a big fish still alive inside.
