Ladies and Gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon/evening. It is my great honor to stand before you today to discuss a topic that is both personal and universal: the roleof marriage in university life. As we navigate the complex journey of higher education, it is important to consider the various aspects of our lives that can influence our personal and professional growth. In this speech, I will explore how marriage can be a supportive and enriching factor in the lives of university students, offering stability, companionship, and a shared vision for the future.Introduction:(100 words)Good morning/afternoon/evening, esteemed faculty, esteemed guests, and fellow students. Today, we gather to reflect on the multifaceted worldof university life. While academic pursuits are at the forefront of our journey, it is essential to acknowledge the other dimensions that contribute to our overall development. Among these, marriage plays a significant role in shaping our experiences and preparing us for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.I. The Benefits of Marriage in University LifeA. Emotional Support and Stability(250 words)The first and foremost benefit of marriage in university life is the emotional support and stability it provides. As students face the pressures of academic work, social interactions, and personal challenges, having a supportive partner can make a world of difference. Marriage offers a safe haven where individuals can share their fears, aspirations, and successes. This emotional stability helps students maintain their focus and resilience, enabling them to navigate the complexities of university life with greater ease.B. Shared Goals and Vision(250 words)Marriage allows couples to share their goals and vision for the future, which can be incredibly motivating and inspiring. When both partners are committed to personal and professional growth, they can encourage each other to strive for excellence. This shared vision helps students stay motivated and committed to their academic pursuits, as they know that their achievements will contribute to the betterment of their lives and the lives of their loved ones.C. Financial Support and Resource Sharing(250 words)Financial stability is another significant advantage of marriage for university students. By pooling their resources, couples can managetheir expenses more effectively, reducing the stress associated with financial constraints. This financial support allows students to focuson their studies without the added burden of financial worries. Moreover, sharing resources and responsibilities can lead to a more efficient use of time and energy, enabling students to maximize their potential.II. Challenges of Marriage in University LifeA. Balancing Academic and Personal Life(250 words)While marriage can offer numerous benefits, it also comes with its own set of challenges. One of the most significant challenges is balancing academic and personal life. University students often find themselves juggling multiple responsibilities, including coursework, research, social activities, and family obligations. Balancing these commitments can be daunting, but with effective communication and time management skills, couples can find a harmonious balance that supports their academic and personal goals.B. Distance and Cultural Differences(250 words)For some students, marriage may involve long-distance relationships or cultural differences. These factors can add complexity to the relationship, requiring couples to be more adaptable and communicative. Distance can lead to feelings of loneliness and separation, whilecultural differences may create misunderstandings and conflicts. However, with open-mindedness, patience, and a willingness to adapt, couples can overcome these challenges and strengthen their bond.III. Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Marriage in University LifeA. Communication(200 words)Effective communication is the cornerstone of a healthy marriage. Couples should make an effort to communicate regularly, discussing their feelings, concerns, and expectations. By fostering an open and honest dialogue, they can address any issues that may arise and find solutions together.B. Time Management(200 words)Time management is crucial for maintaining a healthy marriage during university life. Couples should prioritize their responsibilities and allocate time for both individual and shared activities. This balance ensures that both partners feel valued and supported, contributing to a harmonious relationship.C. Mutual Support and Understanding(200 words)Mutual support and understanding are essential for a successful marriage. Both partners should be willing to lend a helping hand and offer encouragement when needed. By showing empathy and compassion, they can create a nurturing environment that fosters growth and happiness.Conclusion:(150 words)In conclusion, marriage can be a powerful force in the lives ofuniversity students, offering emotional support, shared goals, and financial stability. While challenges may arise, effective communication, time management, and mutual support can help couples navigate the complexities of university life. As we continue our academic journey, let us recognize the value of marriage as a means to personal and professional growth, and strive to cultivate healthy and fulfilling relationships with our partners.Thank you for your attention, and may your university experience befilled with love, success, and growth.。

英语口语小组对话 主题marriage

A:Marriage is one of the most important events of people's lives. so we always treat it very cautiously. And no doubt what we pay the most attention to is choosing a satisfactory man or woman to marry. What kind of person would you like to marry? B:Perhaps we may talk about it according to the letter“marriage”.The first letter M is for money. I guess that no one can deny the significance of money in marriage. The sense of happiness is built on certain material basis, though some people say don't marry for money. The second letter is for ability. Ability is the way to making a living as well as an element of charm. It seems that man pay more attention on his spouse's ability. The letter R stand for right. He is charming, cool, handsome, excellent…She is pretty, cute, graceful…The wise women choose their Mr. right. I is for independent. it refers that he or she should be able to take care of himself or herself. You are searching for a wife, not a daughter.A:It seems like more and more girls want to marry a foreigner. I am one of them. Well, I think the best thing is that two people fall in love finally get together. Also, good things like can go and live in another country, learn different cultures, know how people think and behave over there, when they have children, can teach them the best things from both side. To marry a foreigner make you more understanding, because only by that, two people from different country can be together happily ever after. Don't you think so?C:Of course we should look for one who we love and by whom we are loved in return. After all, each of us has only one life. And love is the most essential element of a fulfilled life. A guy who shares some of my interests so that at least we won't be bored and can have a genuinely good time together .for example- camping. I hate it. We would have problems if it were his passion. If only there is a slighteset chance, I think one should not give up the search for true love. Love, Kathleen Couldn't agree more. Love makes the world beautiful. If your heart is full of love and affection, you will find you can almost go easily with everything and even everyone. And eventually you're sure to find your everlasting love. Well, what do you think is crucial for a happy marriage?D:I think the mutual trust makes a happy marriage. Firstly, mutual trust is the most basic emotional quality between a married couple. Secondly, mutual trust is the most important factor to keep a long and happy marriage. Lastly, mutual trust is the only thing one wife or one husband needs when they are in trouble. So I think mutual trust is one of the most important elements to make a happy marriage.B:Talking about how to the marriage happy , different people hold different opinions. For me, I believe that communication is vital. Marriage means you are not alone any more . You are supposed to share the opinions ,feelings ,hobbies and many other aspects in your life with your husband or wife ,otherwise this marriage has lost its real meaning .Also if you always hide your feelings toward him or her ,the marriage can hardly last long. In this way ,I believe that communication leads a happy marriage. What's more ,you should try to understand your partner and concern what he or she needs ,do your best to help overcome the difficulties together and hand in hand create a better lifeA:Mutual understanding is critical to the success of marriage. As a sayinggoes:"Marriage is the grave for love. To a certain extent, it has some point in it, because love in most case is romantic and the lover only see the bright side of his or her part, but the marriage involves more vulgar things. During the daily life, you not only discover his or her bright side, you may also be reluctant to find sometimes he or she offensive to you. Therefore, mutual understanding is pretty important to maintain a good marriage.C:I agree with you. Without it, the couples will only complain each other when confronted with conflicts between them. As time goes by and the tension exists, more often than not, the marriage will eventually fall collapsed. So the most and foremost thing that a couple should keep in mind is that the precious love that bind them together. If not for that, how could they get to know and fall in with each other?D:In my opinion, When we are young and fall in love we can sometimes have too high expectations for ourselves. We would like everything to be perfect. We think of our future together forever and hope that one day we will in fact have a fairy tale wedding and therefore live happily .For most couples love and marriage can be a fairy tale. Waking up together in the morning looking for that first smile of the day. This alone can put you on a high pedestal for the rest of the day. Sharing breakfast together can also be fun. Then when you return home from work and cannot wait to see each other there is so much to tell one another that, without realizing it, you are becoming closer and closer to each other. Hence, a stable relationship is growing all the time. Live is such a wonderful thing.。

I’m not sure what the cartoon is intended to mean. Maybe it is a criticism of the society, in which women are supposed to always serve men.

Both agree not to break the rules outlined in the agreement. John, a reporter, is talking to them about the agreement.)John: Tom, Linda, first I’d like to ask you why you decided to write this unusual agreement. Tom: We found that many problems are caused when a person has different expectations from his or her spouse. We wanted to talk about everything openly and honestly before we started living together.Linda: Also we both know how important it is to respect each other’s pet peeves. Like, I can get very annoyed if others leave stuff — clothing, papers, everything! — lying around on the floor. It really bugged me, so we put that in the agreement.John: This is mentioned in Article 1: Cleaning Up, isn’t it? It says, “Nothing will be left on the floor overnight. Are you for or against this standard in choosing a spouse? Express and defend your views from the perspectives given in the card below.Possible Arguments (for reference)From the perspective of a student (positive)I think it is very natural for people to give first priority to economic status in choosing a spouse. We all know how important money is. Without money, we can hardly do anything. Lack of money in a marriage will cause problems to the couple. Even though the couple may have married for love, being always hard-pressed for money, love will soon be replaced by quarrels and endless worries over money matters. If this happens, can they live happily together? So I think it is very important to first consider if your future spouse is able to share the responsibility of supporting a family. If not, just wait. From the perspective of a social worker (negative)Nowadays, some young people consider economic status the most important factor when they choose a spouse. They think money can bring everything they want, like a big apartment, a car, or a trip abroad. However, can these material things really ensure happiness? I don’t think so.A marriage based solely on material wealth will not necessarily be a happy one. Countless examples have shown that rich people often have unsuccessful marriages. A happy marriage is built on a deep love and affection between husband and wife, which cannot be bought by money. Now use the above sample as your model and carry on similar activities with your partner. Some Ideas for ReferenceThe Argument (positive)1. A university degree is the first thing I’d consider when I choose my life companion. I thinktwo people with very different educational backgrounds would have problems incommunication.2. A person with a university degree has been exposed to a wide range of knowledge / iswell-educated.3.What great pleasure it is to spend your life with someone who can share your enjoyment ofmusic, art and literature, or discuss with you all sorts of subjects from the beauty of nature to aliens in outer space / new advances in science and technology.4. A well-educated person tends to be more cultured, and more understanding, which will ensurehappiness in a marriage.5. A well-educated person is more likely to have a good career.6. A university degree is almost a must in the competitive job market nowadays. Therefore agood educational background is key to a successful career, which will bring harmony and security to family life. The Counter-argument (negative)1.I don’t think a university degree is so important in choosing one’s life companion. Personalityis the first thing I would take into consideration when I choose a spouse.2.To my mind, affection, honesty, generosity, kindness, sympathy, and courage are the qualitiesI value more.3.I think a person’s moral virtue is very important and it is not decided by the amount of schooleducation he or she has received.4. A university degree does not necessarily bring happiness to a marriage. Mutual affection andunderstanding are key to a happy marriage.5. A person with a university degree is not necessarily well-educated. It depends on how mucheffort she or he made while at college.6.I believe in love / love at first sight. I’d like to marry the person I love, and together we canpursue the dreams of our life.7.I don’t think a university degree can ensure success in a career. Experience is sometimes moreimportant than formal education. As a matter of fact, many entrepreneurs in China haven’t even received secondary education. Their success actually relies on their unusual personality and opportunities available.Part CTest Your ListeningA ConversationListen to the conversation and choose the right answers to the questions you hear.1.Which of the following is true of the woman’s husband?a.He doesn’t share housework at home.b.He doesn’t know how to put things in order.c.He doesn’t care for his wife and children.d.He’s lazy and rude.2.What do you know about the woman?a.She’s just got a job.b.She earns a lot of money.c.She does most of the housework at home.d.She has bad relations with her husband.3.What does the man think of the woman’s complaints?a.He thinks the woman’s husband is lazy and messy.b.He doesn’t want to pass judgment on the woman’s husband.c.He thinks the woman complains too much.d.He thinks the woman should ask her husband to share the housework.Script:M: Ah, come in, Barbara. Take a seat. How have things been?W: Oh, much the same. I still seem to have quarrels with my husband all the time.M: What do you quarrel about?W: Oh, everything. You see, he never thinks of my feelings.M: Go on.W: Well, I’ll give you an example. You know, when the children started school, I wanted to go back to work again, too. So I got a job. Well anyway, by the time I’ve collected Gary and Lucy from school, I only get home about half an hour before he comes back …M: Yes?W: Well, when he gets home, he expects me to run around and get his tea. He never does anything in the house.M: Mm.W: And last Friday he invited three of his friends to come around for a drink. He didn’t tell me to expect them, and I’d had a long and difficult day. I don’t think that’s right, do you?M: Well, I’m not here to pass judgment. I’m here to listen.W: Sorry. And he’s so untidy. He’s worse than the kids. I always have to remind him to pick up his clothes. He just throws his clothes on the floor. After all, I’m not his servant. I’ve got my own career. Actually, I think that’s part of the trouble. You see I earn as much money as he does.。

marriage

marriage

Hello, everyone,it’s an honour for me to make a speech here.Assume for a moment that a couple has suffered a breakdown, thus their marriage coming to an end. But their son is preparing for the university entrance exam. If you met this dilemma, what would you like to do ,divorce or not.. Tough question, isn’t it? On the one hand ,you may cannot bear to live with your spouse without affections. On the other hand, you will be ashamed and uneasy for your son if you choose to seek your happiness.I will tell you which choice I would make in this theoretical situation. I will keep relationship with my spouse. The reasons why I can make this decision may be divided into three. Firstly, if I elect to divorce decisively , it can have a bad influence for my child. Secondly, in my view, marriage is not simple two people business. I think it a must to let child to know. Apparently, it’s not a suitable to inform child of this situation. What’s more, child need time to accept fact. Finally , there may be a favourable turn . Sometimes , after cooling down , we may find divorce is not the best choice to settle the problem. What it all comes to is responsibility. You should take responsibility for both your children and your marriage. In short, don’t divorce rashly but thoughtful.。
