Trapped by the flood

Pre-reading Look at the title of the story and the pictures below. Can you predict what the story about?
First-reading
1.Who told Sara to go to her mother’s house and why? Sara’s husband Tony told her because he was afraid the valley would become flooded. Sara’s mother’s house was on higher ground so it was less likely to be flooded.
Summary
In this class, we’ve learned some reading skills.By way of skimming we identified the main ideerall impression of the content; and by means of scanning, we found some specific information, such as the verbs of the -ing form in paragraph 5 and 6, with a lot of action to create a scene of urgency.
