After her second day at school, my four-year-old daughter sat me down at the kitchen table for a conversation. She wanted me to _ 36 _ exactly how I take her to school each morning.
“It’s not by car, is it?” she said, I confirmed to her that.

“Good,” she replied.
I _ 37 _ why.
“Cars are bad.”
I learned later that upon arrival at her reception class each day, pupils have to tick a box on a piece of paper _ 38 _ how they journeyed to school that morning. Though they are never told in quite so many words that cars are _ 39 _ bad, they are nevertheless led by their eco-aware teacher, towards the two former modes of _ 40 _--because cycling and walking are both environmentally friendly.
A week later, we had a _ 41 _ kind of conversation, and this one was about the _ 42 _ that we currently grow no fruit or vegetables in our small garden. I informed her of the wonders of environmentally friendly online grocer Ocado, _ 43 _ she insisted that self-sufficiency was better. At school, my _ 44 _ explained, they have a small place where they grow tomatoes and strawberries, possibly potatoes and others. She wants us now to _ 45 _ as she does.
This, I know now, is pester (纠缠) power in action. And in a world where we must all become more _ 46 _ of green, it is children who are at the very forefront of the movement, children who _ 47_ all the information like the sponges, before spreading it in a lovely manner, brooking (容忍) no argument.

Debate over whether school buses in Prince Albert, Canada can use their stop sign arms and let traffic stop went on in both city council(市政会)and school board meeting rooms recently.
At the Saskatchewan Rivers School board meeting, Cynthia Mamar and Lori Stevenson made a presentation to have a bylaw(地方法规)removed that doesn’t allow school buses to use stop sign arms in the city.
“With more drivers on the roads, the need for children’s safety is the primary concern. Some school bus drivers are more than willing to take the risk of the fine of $280 to use their stop arms and stop lights if they foresee something is going to happen. If these bus drivers can take that risk, why can’t we move forward and support them?” said Mamar.
School board trustee(理事)Grant Gustafson said he was concerned that buses stopping on busy streets would create traffic jams.
The discussions about the subject were still ongoing, so the board deciced to table the decision until their next meeting. Meanwhile, at the city council there were also heated discussions about changing the bylaw.
Lee Atkinson said,“If we want to legalize stop sign arms, we could make a decision at the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities(自治市)Association (SUMA), have it adopted by the urban municipalities throughout the province and then hopefully persuade the province to adopt a law.”
Jayne Remenda said it was a good idea, but some responsibility had to fall on public education.
“Until we can get everyone to understand all of the laws of the road, there’s always going to be drivers that are either going to ignore or not understand and a child is going to rush from behind the bus and get hit,” she said.
In the end the council agreed to bring up the issue at the next board meeting.

B. protect drivers’ rights

A. The urban municipalities → the SUMA → the province of Saskatchewan.
B. The urban municipalities → the province of Saskatchewan → the SUMA.
C. The SUMA → the urban municipalities → the province of Saskatchewan.
D. The SUMA → the Saskatchewan Rivers School → the urban municipalities.
69. Jayne Remenda stressed the importance of ______.
A. raising public awareness of traffic laws
B. improving the public transport system
C. giving punishment to careless drivers
D. encouraging children to take buses
70. What would be the best title for the text?

Write NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS for each answer.
If you want your kids to be happy and want to become happy adults, try to have a strong, happy family. Happy people not only feel better, they actually are more successful in their personal lives or in their work. Actually, happiness doesn’t come from success but instead, success comes from happiness.
Besides, having a strong, happy family also builds resilience(适应力)in our kids so they can manage inevitable(不可避免的)challenges of life.
Happy families have been found to share some key traits(特点). For example, happy families celebrate each other. They do n’t wait for “occasions” but pay attention to little “wins” in life and offer encouragement to each other in their efforts. They’re enthusiastic fans on the platform or are good audience for each other’s games and plays or whatever. If a family member is involved, the rest of the family are there to cheer them on.
Happy families also pay attention to each other. They put down their devices and put aside their projects to listen fully when someone wants to share. They ask each other about their day and are trully interested in the answer. They share their thoughts and feelings and respond thoughtfully and sensitively to the thoughts and feelings of others. They even encourage the youngest members of the family to take part in the real conversation.
People in happy families genuinely(真诚地)care about each other. Their interactions are more positive. Members of happy families reassure(使……安心)each other of their love through both words and actions. It’s understood and the words of courtesy (please, thank you, excuse me) are important way that people show respect for each other. They spend time with each other, not because they have to but

Directions: Read the following passage. Answer the questions according to the information given in the passage.
At least 36 people have been killed and another 42 people have been injured in a stampede that broke out during a New Year Eve celebration in downtown Shanghai, which may have been caused by the crowd rushing to grab fake money thrown from the balcony of a building.
Survi vors described the stampede as “horrible and hellish.” A
woman said she covered two kids in front of her with her arms in
the chaos. Her son followed her. Dirty shoe prints covered her
son's clothes when the 12-year-old boy came to safety.
“The crowd was in a panic. We stood in the crowd, feeling
squ eezed and almost out of breath,” a boy said, “Some yelled for
he lp, but the noise was too loud.”
Other survivors said the police rushed to the scene and tried to pull out the people who were stuck, but without much success.
The local authorities said that one of the victims was a female student from the Shanghai-based Fudan University. The student, surnamed Du from Yunnan Province, was fatally injured during the incident and died later in the hospital.
“The chao s lasted several minutes, and then some of the injured were seen being carried out of the crowd," Yu said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday demanded an immediate investigation into the cause of the stampede and urged prevention of such incidents in the future.
The city has set up a working team for rescue operations to deal with the aftermath. Fatal incidents like this one were not rare in China, the world’s most populous country. Stampedes in the past were mainly due to safety measures.
In September 2014, six students were killed in a stampede at a primary school in Yunnan Province after a stairway was blocked. In January 2014, a mosque (清真寺) stampede killed 14 people and injured another 10 in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. In 2004, a stampede on a bridge in suburban Beijing killed 37 during a local lantern festival.
