One of the most typical aspects of Beijing Opera is its colorful and complicated stage makeup, which is one of the basic skills learned by performers. The most intricate makeup is for the role of jing. The jing role has different colors and designs, age, profession and personality of certain roles will be shown.

Beijing Opera
Beijing Opera is the most representative of all the Chinese traditional dramatic art forms. It is said in China that one goes not to see an opera, but to hear one, for music and singing are the most essential elements in opera. As we know, the wind, stringed and percussion instruments are all used in Beijing Opera music.
Another typical aspect of Beijing Opera is the versatility of performers who are in speaking, singing and dancing parts in the same opera, and especially good at acrobatics, which is very different from the opera of the West. Besides voice training, a performer of Beijing Opera must train himself in martial skills for many years. So when we see an opera, we’ll have a deep impression of the graceful and precise movement executed by performers.
