19年12月大学英语四级作文题目
19年12月大学英语四级作文题目全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Save Our Earth!Hello everyone! I am Tommy, a 10-year-old student. Today, I want to talk to you about something very important – protecting our environment. Our Earth is a beautiful place, full of amazing plants, animals, and people. But lately, I have noticed that our Earth is in trouble. Pollution is everywhere, and it's making our planet sick. We must do something to save our Earth!First of all, let's talk about air pollution. Have you ever seen those big, black clouds of smoke coming out of factories and cars? They are causing a lot of harm to our environment. The air we breathe is getting dirty, and it's making us sick. We can help by using public transportation, walking, or biking instead of always using cars. We should also plant more trees as they help clean the air.Next, let's talk about water pollution. Our rivers and oceans are getting polluted with trash and chemicals. This is hurting the fish and other creatures that live in the water. We can make a difference by not throwing trash into rivers or lakes. We should also use less water when we brush our teeth or take a shower. Every drop counts!Another important issue is deforestation. Many trees are being cut down to make space for buildings and farms. Trees are like the lungs of our Earth – they produce oxygen for us to breathe. Without them, we will have less clean air. We should plant more trees and be careful to use paper wisely. Recycling paper can also help save trees.Lastly, let's talk about wildlife conservation. Many animals are losing their homes because of deforestation and pollution. We need to protect these animals and their habitats. We can do this by not buying products made from endangered animals and by supporting organizations that work to protect wildlife. In conclusion, we must take action to protect our environment. As young students, we can make a difference by doing simple things like using less water, recycling, and planting trees. Let's work together to save our Earth and make it a betterplace for future generations. Remember, every small action counts!篇2My Most Cherished GiftHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I go to Green Meadows Elementary School and I'm in the 5th grade. Today, my teacher Mrs. Roberts asked us to write about the best gift we ever received. At first, I wasn't sure what to write about because I've gotten lots of really cool gifts over the years. But then I remembered the gift that means the most to me – my teddy bear, Mr. Snuggles.I got Mr. Snuggles when I was just a tiny baby. My mom told me that she bought him for me at the hospital gift shop right after I was born. He was the first toy I ever had and we've been best friends ever since. Mr. Snuggles has been with me through everything – when I was a baby learning to walk, when I started preschool, when I lost my first tooth, and so many other big moments in my life.Mr. Snuggles is a classic brown teddy bear with a cute little black nose and big round eyes. His fur is really soft and he's just the perfect size for hugging. Even though he's gotten a littleworn out over the years, with some loose threads and a few small stains, he's still in pretty good shape for being almost 11 years old!I remember carrying Mr. Snuggles everywhere with me when I was little. He went to daycare, to the park, to the grocery store –wherever I went, he came too. I just felt safer and happier having him by my side. Whenever I was scared or upset, all I had to do was give Mr. Snuggles a big squeeze and suddenly everything seemed a little bit better. Some of my favorite memories with Mr. Snuggles are from when I was really little and my mom would read bedtime stories to me. I would clutch him tightly and bury my face in his soft fur as she read classic tales like Goodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The stories always sent me off to sleep feeling calm and loved. As I got a bit older, Mr. Snuggles took on a slightly different role. Instead of just being a cuddly companion, he also became a best friend that I could talk to about anything. Whenever I was worried about a test at school or had an argument with a friend, I would confide in Mr. Snuggles. He was always such a good listener! And even though he couldn't talk back, just hugging him made me feel so much better. These days, I don't carry Mr. Snuggles around with me everywhere anymore. But he still has a very special place on my bed, guarding my other stuffed animals. I like to make sure he's propped up nicely against my pillow so he has a good view of my room. Plus, it's always nice to have him there when I go to bed at night.Whenever I'm feeling sad or anxious, I still find myself reaching for Mr. Snuggles and giving him a squeeze, just like I did when I was a little kid. There's just something so comforting about his soft, familiar fur and his friendly face. No matter how old I get, I know Mr. Snuggles will always be there for me. He's a forever friend. While some of my other toys have been outgrown or lost interest over the years, Mr. Snuggles will always hold a special place in my heart. He's a connection to my earliest memories and my childhood. More than that, he's been a constant source of comfort, security, and unconditional love.So that's why Mr. Snuggles is the best gift I've ever received. Sure, I've gotten lots of fun toys and games and gadgets too. But none of those things could ever match the priceless companionship that my sweet teddy bear has provided me for over a decade now. He's more than just a stuffed animal – he's acherished friend. And I know I'll keep him by my side for many, many more years to come.篇3My Favorite Thing - Recess!Hi there! My name is Timmy and I'm 8 years old. I'm in 3rd grade and I go to Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about my very favorite thing in the whole wide world - recess time at school!Recess is the best part of any school day, hands down. It's that wonderful 20-30 minute break we get in the middle of the morning and afternoon where we get to go outside and run around and play games and just have tons of fun! No sitting at desks, no schoolwork, no teachers going on and on. Just pure playtime awesomeness!I love everything about recess time. Getting lined up and heading out to the playground area is always exciting. You can feel the energy building as everyone gets all hyped up, talking about what games they want to play or chatting about other kid stuff. The moment we're finally let out onto the playground, it's like being released from captivity! Everybody spreads out running in different directions, shouting and laughing andrushing over to the playground equipment, sports areas, or open fields. There's so much to do out there during recess. The playground has all the classics - slides, swing sets, monkey bars, that cool curved ladder thing, and more. Climbing up those towering structures and zipping down the big twisty slides never gets old. You can spend pretty much the whole recess just messing around on that equipment if you want. Then there are the sports areas with basketball courts, tetherball poles, hopscotch grids, and four square. I'm a big fan of basketball and tetherball. Dribbling around and taking shots at the net is fun, or whacking that tetherball back and forth never gets boring. A bunch of my friends love playing marathon games of four square too which looks super intense.Or you can just run around on the open grassy fields. Playing tag, hiding and chasing each other, having crazy running races, or seeing who can do cool flips and tumbles. Sometimes clouds of kids will congregate for a big messy game of soccer or kickball. Once I even saw some crazy kids trying to do cartwheels and backflips off this little hill! The best though is when you get to hang with your very best buds and just run around wildly making up imaginary games andscenarios. Like we'll pretend we're brave knights battling evil dragons and sorcerers. Or maybe we're a crew of space explorers discovering exotic alien planets. Or we're champion athletes competing for the big prize. We come up with the craziest, most ridiculous ideas and then just go for it 100%, cracking up laughing and having an absolute blast the whole time.Recess is also amazing because it's really the only time during a school day when you get to truly act like a kid. The rest of the time you have to remain seated, be quiet, follow instructions, and do all your schoolwork like reading, writing, math, or whatever else. Recess is your break from all that. You can just be free, get your sillies out, and expend all that pent-up energetic craziness that builds up from sitting in class.Another awesome thing about recess is how it feels like this little break seems to last forever when you're actually in the moment, but then is also over in a blink of an eye. Those 20-30 minutes just seem to stretch out endlessly when you're totally absorbed in running around playing. You lose track of time getting lost in your games and laughter. But then before you know it, there's the shrill ringing of the bell signaling recess is done. And you're like "WHAT?? Already?! NO FAIR!" It's enough to make you want to cry. Why can't recess just be all day?!I honestly don't know how kids are supposed to make it through a full school day without recess breaks. It's absolute torture having to go several hours at a time sitting through classes without any chances to burn off energy and craziness. Whenever I'm stuck in a really long period like that, I start feeling physically itchy and fidgety, unable to concentrate at all. My mind just wanders, daydreaming about being back outside at recess instead of stuck inside. I get antsy and annoying, tapping my foot or playing with objects on my desk. And eventually I'll probably end up getting in trouble for spacing out or distracting others because I'm so desperate for a break. Recess is like a lifeline! So yeah, I cannot overstate how completely awesome and important recess time is. It's the highlight of any school day, for sure. I pretty much live for those 20-30 minute breaks to go outside, run around like a crazy kid, play some awesome games, and let loose with my friends. Recess is when I can be totally myself - energetic, loud, goofy, and carefree. No constraints, no rules, no stress. Just pure fun.Honestly, they should just get rid of most of the boring classroom time and make entire days be recess periods instead! Wouldn't that be the dream? We could come to school and justplay all day every day. Running, jumping, using our imaginations, and working off all our energy the way kids are meant to. Maybe with some very short 15-20 minute breaks for eating snacks and drinking juice boxes. But other than that, just RECESS 24/7! A kid can dream, right?Well, I could definitely ramble on forever about how insanely great recess is. But I've got a bell ringing for me any minute now to go line up for my next class period. And I need to wrap this up before I get too worked up and just make a break for the doors heading outside instead. Thanks for reading, and I hope you understand now why recess is hands down, no contest, THE BEST part of every elementary school day! What's your favorite thing about being a kid? Let me know!篇4My Best Friend SpotI have a best friend and his name is Spot. Spot is a dog. He isa black and white spotted puppy. Spot is the bestest friend I ever had!I got Spot for my 8th birthday last year. My mom and dad knew how much I wanted a puppy so they got me Spot as a present. When I opened the box and saw the cute little puppy myheart filled up with so much joy! I named him Spot because he has lots of black spots all over his white fur.Spot is so much fun to play with. Every day when I get home from school he runs up to greet me, wagging his tail and acting all excited to see me. It makes me feel really happy and important. Then we go outside in the backyard and I throw a ball or a stick and Spot chases after it. He runs so fast on his little legs! Sometimes he brings the stick or ball back to me and sometimes he runs around holding it in his mouth, teasing me. But he always lets me have it back eventually.Spot loves treats and I give him some whenever he is a good boy and listens to what I tell him. His favorite treats are the bacon-flavored ones. When I say "Spot, want a treat?" he gets really hyper and starts jumping up and down. It's hilarious! Then when I give him the treat he gobbles it up super fast and looks at me hoping for another one. I try not to give him too many though because my mom says it will make him fat.At night, Spot sleeps in a doggy bed right next to my bed. Sometimes in the middle of the night he wakes me up because he is dreaming about chasing squirrels or rabbits and he starts kicking his legs and making little barking noises. It's funny butalso keeps me awake! In the morning he always licks my face to wake me up, which is kind of gross but I don't really mind.Spot is really good at doing tricks too. I taught him to sit, stay, roll over, shake hands, and play dead. When I tell him to do a trick he gets all excited because he knows he'll get a treat after. Roll over is his favorite trick because he looks so silly when he's rolling around on the floor. I'm trying to teach him more tricks but it's hard because he gets distracted really easily by things like birds or squirrels outside. The only bad thing about Spot is that he chews on everything! He's already ruined three pairs of my shoes by chewing on them. I have to keep everything off the floor or else he'll chew it up. My mom got really mad one time because he chewed up one of her nice slippers. We have to give him special chew toys and bones to chew on instead. Even then, sometimes he still chews on the furniture or something else he's not supposed to. I feel bad when he does that because I know I'm supposed to be watching him.Last summer, Spot got to go swimming for the first time. We took him to a lake and he was really scared of the water at first. I had to pull him in and he instantly started doggy paddling. It was so cute and funny to watch! After that he started loving the waterand didn't want to get out. We also take Spot on walks around the neighborhood and to the dog park to run around off-leash and play with other dogs. He gets along great with other dogs.On Spot's 1st birthday, I set up a little party for him in the backyard and made him a puppy cake made out of dog treats. I even put a candle in it and sang "Happy Birthday" to him! He thought the candle was a treat at first and tried to eat it before I stopped him. Then he devoured the whole cake so fast - he really liked it! My friends came over too and we all played fetch with Spot. It was the best doggy birthday party ever.I'm so lucky to have a best friend like Spot. He is so much fun and brightens up every single day for me. I laugh so much just watching his silly puppy behavior. He's also really cuddly and always wants to snuggle up next to me and lick my face, even though it's kind of gross. I'm glad he loves me just as much as I love him. I hope I get to have Spot as my best friend for a really, really long time!篇5My Favorite AnimalHi everyone! Today, I want to tell you all about my favorite animal. Can you guess what it is? It's a panda! Pandas are so cute and cuddly, and I just love everything about them.Pandas are big and fluffy. They have black and white fur, which makes them look like they're wearing a tuxedo. Isn't that cool? They also have round faces with big, black eyes. When I see a panda, I can't help but smile.Do you know where pandas live? They are from China, and they like to live in the mountains. Pandas eat bamboo, which is a kind of plant. They have a special thumb that helps them hold onto the bamboo while they eat. Isn't that amazing? I wish I had a thumb like that!Pandas are very friendly animals. They like to play and roll around. Sometimes, they even do somersaults! I think it would be so much fun to play with a panda. They also like to take naps, just like me. I love taking naps, especially on a cozy Sunday afternoon. But did you know that pandas are endangered? That means there are not many of them left in the world. I think that's really sad. We need to protect pandas and their homes, so they can keep being happy and playful. I want future generations to be able to see these amazing creatures, just like I do.In conclusion, pandas are my favorite animal because they are cute, friendly, and they love to play. I hope that more people will learn about pandas and help protect them. They are a special part of our world, and we should do everything we can to keep them safe.Thank you for listening to my story about pandas. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Remember, pandas are awesome!篇6My Favorite PetHi there! My name is Lily and I'm 9 years old. I'm in the 4th grade at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about my bestest friend in the whole wide world – my dog Rufus!Rufus is a golden retriever and he's the most adorable, cuddliest, fluffiest pup you'll ever see. We got him from a nice family a few towns over when he was just a tiny little puppy, no bigger than a teddy bear. The minute I saw those big brown eyes and that wagging tail, I knew he was the one for me. I begged my parents for weeks to get him and finally, on my 7th birthday, they surprised me with the greatest present ever! From that day on, Rufus has been my constant companion. In the mornings, he wakes me up by hopping onto my bed and licking my face until I can't stop giggling. Then he follows me around the house as I get ready for school, waiting patiently by the door for me to put on his leash so we can go on a nice long walk together before I hop on the bus. Rufus' favorite part is chasing after squirrels and bunnies in the park across the street –he never quite catches them, but he sure does try his hardest! After school, Rufus is always waiting right by the front door, his tail windshield-wipering back and forth in excitement to see me again. We play endless games of fetch and tug-of-war in the backyard until I'm totally tuckered out. When it's time for dinner, Rufus gets his favorite beef and veggie kibble while I eat with my family. Then we'll cuddle up on the couch together and watch a movie or read books before bedtime.I just love Rufus so much. He's more than just a pet to me –he's my best friend who I tell all my secrets and problems to. Whenever I'm feeling sad or upset about something, all I need to do is look into those sweet loving eyes and get a big doggy kiss, and suddenly everything feels okay again. Rufus never judges me and is always so happy to just be by my side. I don't know what I'd do without him!Rufus has taught me so many important lessons about responsibility, compassion, and unconditional love. Having to feed him, take him on walks, play with him, and clean up after him has really helped me mature and understand what it means to fully care for another living being. And watching how patient, gentle, and affectionate Rufus is, even when I accidentally step on his paws or pull his ears during cuddle sessions, has shown me the true meaning of forgiveness.I'll never forget the time when I was 6 and got really sick with a bad flu over winter break. I was stuck in bed for over a week, feeling just miserable. But Rufus refused to leave my side the entire time. He'd just curl up right next to me, letting me hug him close whenever I had a coughing fit or nightmare. My mom says having his warmth and companionship then is what helped me get through it. To this day, I thank my lucky stars that I have a best friend as loyal and loving as Rufus. As I've grown up over the years, Rufus has grown up right alongside me. We've shared so many adventures and made countless amazing memories together. I know dogs don't live nearly as long as humans, so I'm trying to treasure each and every moment with my furry buddy while I still can. No matter if I have a scary dream, get bullied at school, or just need a hug,Rufus always knows just what to do to make me feel safe, loved, and happy once more.I hope that one day, when I'm all grown up, I can get married and have kids of my own. And you'd better believe I'll be getting them the most perfect pup, too – one just like my dear, sweet Rufus. That way, they can experience the unbreakable bond between a child and their dog, the way I have. Because a kid's best friend really isn't a human at all – it's the four-legged,tail-wagging pooch who will always be by your side through thick and thin, kissing away the tears and bringing you more joy than you ever thought possible. So thanks, Rufus, for being you. You're the best dog a kid could ever ask for. I love you to the moon and back, a million times over!。
英语四级2019年12月真题第三套作文
英语四级2019年12月真题第三套作文Unfortunately, I cannot provide verbatim extracts from the 2019 December CET-4 exam as it is copyrighted material. However, I can provide a sample response to a typical essay question that may have been included in the exam:Sample Essay Question:Do you think it is important for young people to travel abroad? Why or why not?Sample Response:In today's globalized world, the opportunity to travel abroad has become more accessible for young people than ever before. While some may argue that international travel is a luxury that only few can afford, I believe that it is a valuable experience that can benefit young people in numerous ways.First and foremost, traveling abroad provides young people with the opportunity to gain a broader perspective on the world. By experiencing different cultures, traditions, and ways of life, young people can develop a greater understanding and appreciation for the diversity that exists in the world. This can help to foster a sense of empathy and tolerance towards others, as well as challenge their own preconceived notions and biases.Additionally, traveling abroad can also help young people to develop important life skills such as independence, adaptability, and problem-solving. Navigating unfamiliar environments, dealing with language barriers, and overcoming cultural differences can all help to build resilience and self-confidence in young people. These skills are not only valuable in a personal sense but also in a professional context, as employers often value candidates with international experience and a global mindset.Furthermore, traveling abroad can also provide young people with the opportunity to learn and grow in ways that are not possible in their home country. Whether it be through volunteering, studying, or working abroad, young people can gain new knowledge, insights, and perspectives that can enrich their personal and professional development. In conclusion, I believe that it is important for young people to travel abroad as it can be a transformative and enriching experience that can broaden their horizons, develop important life skills, and foster a greater sense of understanding and empathy towards others. Despite the challenges and obstacles that may come with international travel, the benefits faroutweigh the costs and can have a lasting impact on a young person's life.。

英语四级2019年12月卷一作文
The Power of Perseverance: Overcoming Challenges in English LearningIn the journey of life, we encounter various challenges that test our resolve and perseverance. One such challenge that many of us face is the challenge of learning English, especially when taking a proficiency test like the CET-4. The December 2019 CET-4 writing prompt, which focused on the topic of "The Power of Perseverance," highlighted the importance of persistence in overcoming obstacles and achieving success in English learning.Perseverance is the key to unlocking the door of success in any endeavor, and English learning is no exception. The language, with its intricate grammar, vast vocabulary, and cultural nuances, can be daunting for many learners. However, it is through perseverance that we can overcome these challenges and master the language. The first step in cultivating perseverance is setting clear and achievable goals. When learning English, it is essential to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve. Whether it is passing the CET-4 with a high scoreor fluently conversing in English, setting specific goals gives us a sense of direction and momentum. The next step is developing a consistent learning routine. Learning English requires regular practice and dedication. By allocating a certain amount of time each day to study, whether it is through reading, listening, speaking, or writing, we can gradually build up ourlanguage skills. Consistency is key, as it helps usmaintain momentum and avoid falling into the trap of procrastination. However, perseverance does not mean stubbornly sticking to one method. We must also be willing to adapt and change our learning strategies when necessary. Different people learn in different ways, and it is important to find the learning method that works best for us. Maybe some findthat they learn better through visual aids like videos or infographics, while others prefer hands-on learning through interactive activities or role-playing. Whatever the method, the important thing is to keep experimenting and finding what works best for us.In addition to individual efforts, seeking help and support from others is also crucial. Learning English can be a lonely and frustrating process, but having a mentor, teacher, or even a study group to guide and encourage us can make all the difference. They can provide valuable feedback, answer our questions, and offer encouragement when we feel discouraged. Finally, perseverance is not just about the destination but also about the journey. Enjoying the process of learning and celebrating our small achievements along the way is essential. It keeps us motivated and reminds us that every effort counts. Whether it is learning a new vocabulary word, improving our pronunciation, or successfully completing a practice test, every step forward is a reason to celebrate. In conclusion, the power of perseverance is the driving force that propels us forward in the face of challenges. In English learning, it is what helps us overcome obstacles, master the language, and achieve our goals. By setting clear goals, developing consistent learning routines, adapting our learning strategies, seeking help and support, and enjoying the process, we can harness the power of perseverance and transform our English learning journeyinto a successful one.**坚持不懈的力量:克服英语学习中的挑战**在人生的旅途中,我们会遇到各种各样的挑战,考验我们的决心和毅力。
In the 21st century, technology has become an integral partof our daily lives, transforming the way we communicate, work, and learn. The advent of smartphones, the internet, and artificial intelligence has brought about significant changes that have both positive and negative implications.Positive ImpactsFirstly, technology has made communication more efficient and accessible. With social media platforms and instant messaging apps, we can now stay connected with friends and familyacross the globe with just a few taps on a screen. This has fostered a sense of global community and has made it easierfor people to share ideas and experiences.Secondly, the rise of e-learning has revolutionized education. Students can now access a wealth of knowledge online, participate in virtual classrooms, and even earn degrees without stepping foot in a traditional classroom. This has democratized education and made it possible for more peopleto pursue higher learning regardless of their geographical location.Negative ImpactsHowever, the pervasiveness of technology also has its drawbacks. One major concern is the impact on personal privacy. With the widespread use of tracking technologies and data collection, individuals' privacy is often compromised, leading to issues such as identity theft and surveillance.Additionally, an over-reliance on technology can lead to a decrease in face-to-face interaction, which may affect social skills and personal relationships. The constant distraction of smartphones and other devices can also lead to decreased productivity and a lack of focus.ConclusionIn conclusion, while technology has undoubtedly improved many aspects of modern life, it is crucial to find a balance and ensure that it serves to enhance rather than detract from our quality of life. It is the responsibility of individuals, communities, and governments to harness the power of technology for the greater good while safeguarding againstits potential pitfalls.这篇作文首先概述了技术对现代生活的积极影响,如提高沟通效率和教育的普及化。

2019英语四级作文(5篇)
2019英语四级作文(5篇)2019英语四级作文篇一Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30minutes to write a composition on the topicCertificate Craze on Campus. You should write atleast 120 words, and base your composition on theoutline below:1)近几年大学校园内出现“考证热”,2)产生这一现象的原因,3)你的看法。
【范文】Certificate Craze on CampusIn recent years, to get a certificate has become anew craze among college students. Just randomly ask a student on campus what he or she isbusy doing, quite possibly, you may get the answer that he is preparing for a certificate ofsome kind. Why does this craze appear? There are mainly two reasons behind this phenomenon. To begin with, it is theemployment pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. With the admissionexpansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the jobmarket. How can one make himself more competitive? More certificates at hand, , diploma and certificates are still vital standards by which a good many employersmeasure a person’s ability. In order to increase the qualifications for a job, the studentscompel themselves to run from one exam to another. From my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, sincecertificates do not necessarily prove one’s ability. Being crazy in getting certificates blindly isnothing but wasting time. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but notgetting a certificate of no practical value.2019英语四级作文篇二Just as is revealed in the picture above, the young, nowadays, just like the boy in the drawing, are prone to reach for what is beyond their grasp, but ignore the significance of doing something trivial and simple before accomplishing great feats. There is no doubt that the symbolic meaning subtly conveyed in the picture should be given deep consideration. As we all know, a man who does not sweep a room, doesn't mention to sweep the world. In other words, the foundations of a building must be strong, or else the whole structure will fall down someday. Therefore, when it comes to the key to success, the most important thing lies in doing every tiny thing well around you.As the saying goes, “the highest eminence is to be gained step by step.” To achieve the goal, not merely do we need ambition; we also need to realize the importance of dealing with triviality from the beginning. Only in this way can we get on the way to success down to earth.2019英语四级作文篇三Dear friend,I am delighted to write this letter to recommend a city for you. Use reasons and specific examples tosupport your answer.【范文】The Influence of Television and MoviesThere is no doubt that watching television andmovies can influence the way that people , it seems that people are spending moreand more time watching some sort of visualentertainment, whether it is television, a video tapeor a DVD. Therefore, the effects of visual media cannot be ignored. One obvious effect of these media is that watching them induces people to buy certainproducts. Television advertising is widespread and, nowadays, even movie theaters . Another way TV and the movies affect people is that they give people either abroader view of the world or a distorted one, depending on what type of program they who watch news and educational program can learn many new things while those whowatch primarily entertainment shows may come to believe that most people in the worldpossess great wealth and good looks. It may make them become dissatisfied with their ownlives. Finally, perhaps the most susceptible viewers are children, who may be unable to tell factfrom fiction and may try to imitate acts that they see on TV or in the movies. With the ever-increasing popularity of video entertainment, society must pay attention tothese effects. Television and movies, while entertaining and informative, cannot take the placeof real experience.。

What will Science Nation be about?W: It’ll be about science, all sorts of science. Each episode will focus on a different area of science, and tell us what we know, how we know it, and what we still don't know. The show will have one host only, and this will be Professor Susan Paul from Harvard University. She's a great public speaker.M: So, just to be clear, will the show's format be like that of a documentary?W: Kind of. It'll be like a documentary in the sense that it'll be non-fiction and fact-based. However, our idea is for it to be also fun and entertaining, something which traditional documentaries aren't so much. Please keep in mind this will be a new TV show, like nothing ever done before.M: Okay, so it'll be both educational and entertaining, and your audience will be anyone interested in science, right?W: That's correct, yes.M: Right, thank you. So, I think we're more or less clear what the show will be like. Could you please tell us now, what exactly you want from us?W: Yes, of course. Basically, what we need from you is financial support. In order to go ahead with this idea, we need 2 million dollars. This will cover the cost of making all 12 shows in the first season for the first year. If the show is a success, we can then look at making a second season for the following year.Questions 8 to 11 are based on the conversation you have just heard.8. A. You do very well in a lot of things. That presentation you gave last week was excellent.M: Yes, but I have this urge to strive for perfection. I really want to push harder and progress further.W: Well, that's very admirable. But be careful. Over concern with being perfect can damage our confidence if we never achieve it.M: Yes, I know. I feel awful whenever I make a mistake in whatever I'm trying to do.W: Well, think about it. You can't make progress without making mistakes and learning from them. Thomas Edison, the famous inventor, once said, "I’ve not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."M: You may well be right. I guess I should recognize my mistakes and learn the lessons they teach me and move forward.W: Also, remember a successful ending is not the only thing worthy of a celebration. You need to recognize each step of progress you take towards achieving your goals. And no matter how tiny it is, it's still good news.M: I always feel down when I see others accomplishing things and I feel miserable about my own achievements. I'm always trying to be as good as others, but I never seem to get there.W: Listen. If you always compare yourself with others, you'll never feel good enough. You're the only person you should be comparing yourself with. When you compare your current status with the starting point, you'll find you've made progress, right? Numerous studies have shown that women who attend single-sex schools tend to have stronger self-confidence, better study habits and more ambitious career goals than women who attend coeducational schools. Girls who graduate from single-sex schools are three times more likely to become engineers than those who attend coeducational schools. The reason is that all-girls schools encourage women to enter fields traditionally dominated by men, such as science, technology and engineering. In coeducational schools, girls are often expected to succeed only in the humanities or the arts. Research has also shown that in coeducational settings, teachers are more likely to praise and give in-depth responses to a boy's comments in class. In contrast, they might only respond to a girl's comments with a nod. They are also more likely to encourage boys to work through problems on their own, while they tend to step in and help girls who struggle with a problem. In an all-girls setting, girls are more likely to speak up frequently and make significant contributions to class than in a coeducational setting. Girls studying in a single-sex setting also earn higher scores on their College Board and Advanced Placement exams than girls who study in coeducational settings. All girls schools tend to be smaller than coeducational schools, which means teachers will be able to tailor the materials to girl students' personal learning styles and interest.Questions 16 to 18 are based on the passage you have just heard.16. A. They have greater potential to be leaders.B. They are more likely to become engineers.C. They are more likely to succeed in the humanities.D. They have a stronger sense of social responsibility.17. A. Praise girls who like to speak up frequently.B. Insist that boys and girls work together more.C. Respond more positively to boys' comments.D. Encourage girls to solve problems on their own.18. A. Pay extra attention to top students.C. Place great emphasis on test scores.B. Provide a variety of optional courses.D. Offer personalized teaching materials.【听力原文】Passage TwoToday I found out that Seattle doesn't really get that much rain compared with most U.S. cities. In fact, Seattle ranks 44th among major U.S. cities in average annual rainfall. Cities that get more rainfall than Seattle include Huston, Memphis, Nashville, and pretty much every majorcity on the eastern coast; such as New York, Boston, and Miami. So, why does everyone think of Seattle as a rainy city? The primary root of this misconception lies in that Seattle has a relatively large number of days per year with rainfall compared with New York and Boston, which get an average of about 16% more rain per year than Seattle, but also average between them about 36 fewer days a year of rainfall. So it rains a lot less in Seattle. And the rain is spread out over more days than those cities. This is why few locals in Seattle carry an umbrella generally. When it does rain, it tends to be a very light rain that isn't troublesome. It almost never really rains as most people think. On top of that, it never really storms in Seattle, either. Seattle gets an average of a mere 7 days a year with thunder. [21JSo in short, if you like sunny but not too hot summers, mild winters but with lots of cloudy days, Seattle's the place to be. Anyway, if you visit Seattle, don't bring an umbrella. People will look at you, thinking you are funny.Questions 19 to 21 are based on the passage you have just heard.19. A. It seldom rains in summer time.B. It often rains cats and dogs.C. It does not rain as much as people think.D. It is one of the most rainy cities in the US.20. A. The rain is usually very light.B. The rain comes mostly at night.C. They have got used to the rain.D. They drive most of the time.21. A. It has fewer cloudy days than any other coastal city.B. It has mild weather both in summer and in winter.C. It has never seen thunder and lightning.D. It has a lot of places for entertainment.【听力原文】Passage ThreeAfter tough workout or a day full of physical activity, its common to find your muscles aching, but where do these pains come from? According to a German professor, the soreness comes from straining your muscles in an uncommon way, for example, jumping on a bicycle for a ride, because you haven't ridden in a long time. Soreness occurs since your leg muscles aren't used to that movement. When muscles perform an activity they aren't regularly expose to, the tiny fibers that are inside them are being torn apart. As muscle soreness develops, the body has to work to repair the muscle tears, but this doesn't happen immediately. First, the body must realize the muscles are damaged. When the body realizes the muscles are hurt, the response is to increase blood flow to the area and increase body heat. Damaged cells are then cleaned up and the body sends cells specially designed to break down the large muscle fiber fragments. Healing can take place after this. It takes about a day until these cells make it to your aching muscles. That's why there is most often a delay associated with muscle soreness. Repair of damaged cells takes about two days, and afterwards the soreness disappears. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done to relieve muscle soreness. Pain relieving creams don't work, but a hot shower or warm bath can provide some relief.Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard.22. A. It results from exerting one's muscles continuously.B. It occurs when people are doing a repetitive activity.C. It happens when people engage in an uncommon activity.D. It comes from straining one's muscles in an unusual way.23. A. They gradually become fragmented.B. They begin to make repairs immediately.C. Body movements in the affected area become difficult.D. One vision of the perfect city of the future is a place that offers easy access to air travel. In 2011, a University of North Carolina business professor named John Kasarda published a book called Aerotropolis: The Way We'll Live Next. Kasarda says future cities should be built intentionally around or near airports. The idea,as he has put it, is to offer businesses "rapid, long-distance connectivity on a massive scale."B) "The 18t century really was waterborne(水运的)century, the 19th century a rail century, the20th century a highway, car, truck century-and the 21s century will increasingly be an aviation century, as the globe becomes increasingly connected by air, "Kasarda says. Songdo, a city built from scratch in South Korea, is one of Kasarda's prime examples. It has existed for just a few years."From the outset, it was designed on the basis of connectivity and competitiveness,"says Kasarda. The government built the bridge directly from the airport to the Songdo International Business District. And the surface infrastructure was built at the same time as the new airport.C) Songdo is a stone's throw from South Korea's Incheon Airport, its main international hub(枢纽).But it takes a lot more than a nearby airport to be a city of the future. Just building a place as an "international business district" doesn't mean it will become one. Park Yeon Soo conceived(构想)his city of the future back in 1986.He considers Songdo his baby, Park sees himself as a visionary. Thirty years after he imagined the city,Park's baby is close to 70 percent built, with 36,000 people living in the business district and 90,000 residents in greater Songdo. It's about an hour outside Seoul, built on former tidal flats along the Yellow Sea.There's Coast Guard building and a tall trade tower,as well as a park, golf course and university.D) Chances are you've actually seen this place. Songdo appears in the most famous music videoever to come out of South Korea. "Gangnam Style" refers to the fashionable Gangnam district in Seoul. But some of the video was filmed in Songdo. "I don't know if you remember, there was a scene in a subway station. That was not Gangnam. That was actually Songdo," says Jung Won Son, a professor of urban development at London's Bartlett School of Planning."Part of the reason to shoot there is that it's new and nice. "E) The city was supposed to be a hub for global companies, with employees from all over theworld. But that's not how it has turned out. Songdo's reputation is as a futuristic ghost town. But the reality is more complicated. A bridge with big, light-blue loops leads into the business district. In the center of the main road, there's a long line of flags of the world. On the corner, there's a Starbucks and a 7-Eleven-all of the international brands that you see all over theworld nowadays.F) The city is not empty. There are mothers pushing baby carriages, old women withwalkers-even in the middle of the day, when it's 90 degrees out. Byun Young-Jin chairs the Songdo real estate association and started selling property here when the first phase of the city opened in 2005.He says demand has boomed in the past couple of years. Most of his clients are Korean. In fact, the developer says, 99 percent of the homes here are sold to Koreans.Young families move here because the schools are great. And that's the problem: Songdo has become a popular Korean city-more popular as a residential area than a business one. It's not yet the futuristic international business hub that planners imagined. "It's a great place to live. And it's becoming a great place to work," says Scott Summers, vice-president of Gale International, the developer of the city. The floor-to-ceiling windows of his company's offices overlook Songdo Central Park, with a canal full of small boats and people fishing.Shimmering(闪烁的)glass towers line the canal's edgeG) "What's happened is that our focus on creating that quality of life first has enabled theresidents to live here," Summers says. But there needs to be strong economic incentives for companies to locate here. The city is still unfinished, and it feels a bit like a theme park. It doesn't feel all that futuristic. There's a high-tech underground trash disposal system.Buildings are environmentally friendly. Everybody's television set is connected to a system that streams personalized language or exercise classes.H) But this is not Star Trek. And to some of the residents, Songdo feels hollow." I’m, like, inprison for weekdays. That's what we call it in the workplace," says a woman in her 20s.She doesn't want to use her name for fear of being fired from her job. She goes back to Seoul every weekend."I say I'm prison-breaking on Friday nights."But she has to make the prison break in her own car. There's no high-speed train connecting Songdo to Seoul, just over 20 miles away.I) Park Yeon Soo, the man who first imagined Songdo, feels frustrated, too. He says he builtSouth Korea a luxury vehicle." like Mercedes or BMW. It's a good car now. But we're waiting for a good driver to accelerate."But there are lots of other good cars out there, too. The world is dotted with futuristic, high-tech cities trying to attract the biggest international companies. J) Songdo's backers contend that it's still early, and business space is filling up-about 70 percent of finished offices are now occupied. Brent Ryan, who teaches urban design at MIT, says Songdo proves a universal principle." There have been a lot of utopian(乌托邦的)cities in history. And the reason we don't know about a lot of them is that they have vanished entirely."In other words, when it comes to cities-or anything else-it is hard to predict the future.36. Songdo's popularity lies more in its quality of life than its business attraction.37. The man who conceived Songdo feels disappointed because it has fallen short of hisexpectations.38. A scene in a popular South Korean music video was shot in Songdo.39. Songdo still lacks the financial stimulus for businesses to set up shop there.40. Airplanes will increasingly become the chief means of transportation, according to aprofessor.41. Songdo has ended up different from the city it was supposed to be.42. Some of the people who work in Songdo complain about boredom in the workplace.43. A business professor says that a future city should have easy access to internationaltransportation44. According to an urban design professor, it is difficult for city designers to foresee what willhappen in the future.45. Park Yeon Soo, who envisioned Songdo, feels a parental connection with the city.Section CDirections: There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) andD). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter onAnswer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre.Passage One Questions 46 and 50 are based on the following passage. The fifth largest city in the US passed a significant soda tax proposal that will levy(征税)1.5 cents per liquid ounce on distributors.Philadelphia's new measure was approved by a 13 to 4 city council vote. It sets a new bar for similar initiatives across the country. It is proof that taxes on sugary drinks can win substantial support outside super-liberal areas. Until now, the only city to successfully pass and implement a soda tax was Berkeley California, in 2014.The tax will apply to regular and diet sodas,as well as other drinks with added sugar, such as Gatorade and iced teas. It's expected to raise $410 million over the next five years, most of which will go toward funding a universal pre-kindergarten program for the city While the city council vote was met with applause inside the council room, opponents to the measure, including soda lobbyists, made sharp criticisms and a promise to challenge the tax in court"The tax passed today unfairly singles out beverages-including low-and no-calorie choices," said Lauren Kane, spokeswoman for the American Beverage Association."But most importantly,it is against the law. So we will side with the majority of the people of Philadelphia who oppose this tax and take legal action to stop it.An industry-backed anti-tax campaign has spent at least $4 million on advertisements. The ads criticized the measure, characterizing it as a "grocery tax."Public health groups applauded the approved tax as a step toward fixing certain lasting health issues that plague Americans."The move to recapture a small part of the profits from an industry that pushes a product that contributes to diabetes, obesity and heart disease in poorer communities in order to reinvest in those communities will sure be inspirational to many other places," said Jim Krieger, executive director of Healthy Food America."Indeed, we are already hearing from some of them. It's not just Berkeley anymore."Similar measures in California's Allbany, Oakland, San Francisco and Colorado's Boulder are becoming hot-button issues. Health advocacy groups have hinted that even more might be。

英语四级2019年12月真题第三套作文
英语四级2019年12月真题第三套作文I'm sorry, but I cannot provide verbatim excerpts from copyrighted material, such as the 2019 December CET-4 exam questions. However, I can provide a sample response to a similar writing prompt. Here is a sample essay on a common topic for the CET-4 exam:Title: The Impact of Social Media on SocietyIn today's digital age, social media plays a significant role in shaping society. While there are various benefits to using social media platforms, such as connecting with friends and family, sharing ideas, and staying informed, there are also negative impacts that need to be addressed.Firstly, social media has revolutionized communication and has made it easier for people to stay connected no matter where they are in the world. This has led to an increase in global awareness and understanding, as individuals have the ability to share their opinions and experiences with a wider audience. Additionally, social media has provided a platform for marginalized groups to amplify their voices and advocate for social change. However, the over-reliance on social media has also resulted in negative consequences. The rise of cyberbullying, online harassment, and misinformation has become more prevalent, leading to a decline in mental health and well-being among users. Moreover, the constant exposure to curated content on social media has created unrealistic expectations and comparisons, fostering feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. To mitigate the negative impacts of social media, individuals need to practice digital literacy and critical thinking skills. It is essential to fact-check information before sharing it, be mindful of the content consumed, and engage in healthy online behaviors. Furthermore, social media platforms should enforce stricter regulations to combat harmful content and ensure the safety of their users. In conclusion, while social media has revolutionized the way we communicate and share information, it is crucial to acknowledge its potential negative impacts on society. By promoting responsible usage and implementing necessary measures, we can harness the benefits of social media while minimizing its harmful effects.。
四级19年12月份作文
四级19年12月份作文英文回答:In my opinion, learning a second language is extremely beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, it broadens our horizons and allows us to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds. For example, I have a friend who speaks fluent Spanish, and she was able totravel to Spain and easily interact with the locals. This not only enhanced her travel experience but also helped her to make new friends and connections. Additionally, learning a second language can also improve our cognitive skills. Studies have shown that bilingual individuals have better problem-solving abilities and are more creative in their thinking. This is because learning a new language requires us to think in different ways and adapt to different grammatical structures. Furthermore, being bilingual can also provide us with better job opportunities. Many companies today value employees who can speak multiple languages, as it allows them to communicate with a widerrange of clients and customers. For instance, a friend of mine was able to secure a job in an international company because she was fluent in both English and Mandarin. Overall, learning a second language can open doors to new experiences, enhance our cognitive abilities, and improve our career prospects.中文回答:在我看来,学习第二语言有很多好处。
