I hadn't driven that type of van before. I let too much petrol into the engine. So I had to wait for twenty minutes. 2I drove to one house to deliver a sofa. There was a problem, though. When I looked in the back of the van, the sofa wasn't there. Then I remembered the boss had told me to collect the sofa from another shop. I'd forgotten to do that. I drove to the shop in the next town. 3 All the shops are closed on Monday afternoons. I would have to call again the next day instead.4When I arrived at the next house, I opened the doors of the van at the back. A heavy chair fell out onto my foot. Ooooooww! I jumped up and down the street on one leg. It was very painful! I was able to walk on one and a half feet up to the house with the chair. The afternoon was getting very hot. I hadn't eaten or drunk anything and didn't have any water in the car. When I went through the next town, I met a traffic jam. 5 Two hours later, I got to the last shop. It was 6'clock. A[2016·扬州]Starting a book club is easy—all you need is to love reading. Here's how to get yours off to a flying start. When you set up your book club, the first thing is to get members for your club. They could be friends, family, or those you know through various activities, but they should all love to read. A small group of seven to ten people is usually an ideal size for a book club. Too many make discussions difficult.Once you have a group, agree on how often you want to meet—usually clubs meet monthly. Pick a date and stick with it. That way, members can easily plan for it. Send out emails a week before the meeting to give people a written reminder. Set meeting time length. An hour is a good start. Two hours usually does the trick. Then, you need a good place. Libraries, parks and restaurants—all make good meeting places. For many clubs, homes are the best place as you don't have to get dressed up, and noisy public places can make talking hard. If members bring a plate of food or a bottle, it can help start conversation. Please don't forget the most important thing—the book! Think about the books your club will enjoy. Fiction? Non-fiction? Your club can choose books in different ways. You can take turns to recommend books. Let everyone vote upon what book to read. Anyway, make sure to keep it light and fun. After all this has been decided, your book club is ready. Now, it's time to hold the first meeting. Enjoy your reading.(续表)Do you know how many bones are there in your body? When you were a baby, you had about 330 bones, and now you have just over 200 bones. The number reduces because some bones join together as you grow. Your wonderful bones work together to protect you and support your body. Many usesMany hones protect your body. For example, the bone that makes up your head is called the skull. The skull surrounds your brain and protects it. The ribs that cover your chest protect your heart and lungs.Other bones are used to support the body. Many bones in your feet allow you to walk and stand on your tiptoes. Your hands and feet have more than half of the bones in your body!Biggest BoneThe longest and strongest bone in your body is in your leg. It is called the femur, and it goes from your hip to your knee. It is a very important bone because it carries all of your weight and helps you move from place to place.Smallest BoneWould you believe the smallest bone in your body is in your ear? It is about the size of a grain of rice and is called the stirrup. When sound waves come into your ear, the stirrup shakes back and forth, allowing the sound waves to reach your brain. When the waves reach your brain, you hear the sound.“Funny”BoneHah! The funny bone isn't really a bone at all. It is actually a nerve(神经). When you hit the nerve that is near your elbow, it really hurts or tingles. What's so funny about that? The funny bone probably got its name from the bone that is above your elbow. That bone is called the humerus, which sounds like the word “humorous”,meaning “funny”.The bones that make up our bodies help us grow, and allow us to move. When you think about it, our bones really are wonderful.Smoking is bad for you, but what if your parents smoke? You might be worried about their health, be tired of smelling the smoke, or even a little embarrassed by it. You can't order your parents to stop smoking, but you can help them to give up this bad habit. Tell them smoking is not good for their health. If you think it will help, you could find some articles like this one and give them to your parents. Many states now have free programmes to help people give up smoking. You might even see them advertised on billboards(广告牌) in your town. Point these out to your parents and help them to find out more about these programmes. What if your parents get angry with you for mentioning the topic of smoking? People don't like to be told that they are doing something unhealthy, so it is possible that your parents will be angry, especially if they are worried they won't be able to give up smoking. Maybe they have tried before but failed.Remember to be kind and show respect(尊敬) when you discuss smoking with your parents. Also remember that it is not easy to give up smoking. Some people have tried several times before they're able to give up. Instead of shouting at them, tellthem that you love them and want them to enjoy many healthy years ahead. They may finally realize you are right about smoking. If your parents agree to stop smoking, be their biggest supporter. Ask if there is anything you can do when they feel the desire(渴望) to smoke. Maybe you could go for a walk, do a puzzle, or listen to music together. As they reach their goals, such as a month without smoking, remember to celebrate the achievement._题组训练2_AFrance is the largest country in Western Europe. There are over 66 million people in France. It will take you about nine months to enjoy all the pieces if you want to have a close look at each of them.Have a local meal. French food is famous. Bread is very important in France. The famous bike race—Tour of France takes place at this time.(续表)BNowadays, WeChat is becoming more and more popular in the world. No matter where we are, on the light rail, in a coffee shop, even walking on the street, we always find people using WeChat around us.According to some people, there are lots of reasons for the popularity of WeChat. First of all, it is easy to use. You can log into it with your phone number and start a conversation by tapping the speak button. In addition, WeChat is a wonderful platform for people to share a great deal of information. Meanwhile, you can also do group chats, use WeChat pay, play online games, send lucky money or find new friends nearby to talk to, which helps make many friends and express your feelings and ideas more freely. On the other hand, some people argue that although WeChat benefits us a lot, it has some drawbacks. When using WeChat, people may forget time and some may even get addicted(上瘾) to it, which will affect their study and work. At the same time, spending too much time on the screen does affect eye health, which may cause trouble. Worse still, people may let out their personal information while using it, which may lead to crime. As far as I know, everyone is supposed to use WeChat within limits. As a student, I think that WeChat is not only useful but also dangerous. Therefore, I insist that we shouldn't spend too much time on it. We should balance life's competing interests —in a student's case, study, health and safety. And it's of very importance for us to protect ourselves when we use it.(续表)CMusic has always been an important part of Chinese people's life. People enjoy listening to music at home and in concerts halls. As time goes by, music changes.Traditional music is part of our culture, so it often stays with us for a long time. Many of the traditional Chinese songs have been around for many years. Young musicians learn songs from older musicians and the music changes only very little. Modern Chinese music, which is loved by many young people, however, is mainly pop music. That means the songs will be popular for a short time and then replaced by new songs. Today's musicians write new songs every year and we hear new songs on the radio every day. Before radio and TV were invented, music could only be heard live—that is you had to go places where musicians gave performances. The best musicians were very busy, so it was difficult and often expensive to hear really good music. For most people, the best chance to hear good music was during a festival or at a wedding. Today, people hear music all the time. Radio and TV play songs every day and night and you can even hear music played on the street. One thing that hasn't changed very much is what the songs are about. Both modern and traditional Chinese songs are about love and life. Some songs tell stories about the past and some are about the news or the future. All of the songs have something to do with what it means to be a human being.Music, traditional or modern, Chinese or international, seems to be a world language that everybody can understand and enjoy. Music changes and styles come and go, but nothing changes our love for good music._题组训练3_ASome countries in the West insist that China is one of the world's biggest greenhouse gas emitters(温室气体排放者). But in fact, our government has taken active action to struggle with climate changes.Firstly, the public are educated to pay more attention to the environment. As the government expects, the people have reached a very high level of knowing lowcarbon economy(低碳经济). If you watch TV, listen to the radio or read newspapers, you'll find low-carbon lifestyle has become a fashion. Secondly, developing renewable energy is another action. The government is building many wind farms and solar power stations in the deserts. Of course, within a long time, China will continue using the coal. At the same time, the government has been making rules to punish those people who dare to destroy the environment. Besides, some scientists have suggested that greening the deserts is more important than developing new forms of energy. Their latest research shows that 80% of the CO2 in the atmosphere comes from land use.As we know, China hasn't achieved a balance between the green lifestyle and the economic growth, but we are on the way. We'll take more action to reduce the greenhouse gas emission.(续表) BWe all have habits that we want to give up. These are habits which are not good for us in some way or another. A habit is an activity that we have got used to. It's not easyto break a bad habit because we have got used to it, and it has become convenient. We are so used to our bad habits that most of the time we even don't realize that we have them until someone points them out to us. So the first step that will lead to changing a bad habit is to accept the fact that is not good for you.Since you know you have developed a bad habit, it's best to find out why you developed it in the first place. Find out the reason behind it, as that will help you understand why you're so willing to perform that act. There is nothing to feel scared of. You have to face it and then give it up.Find out how bad habits have spoiled(损坏,糟蹋) things around you. For example, a bad habit of getting up late can destroy the schedule(时间表) of your whole day. And, if this is what you do every day, then imagine how many days it has already eaten up. Realize this and make up your mind to give it up.An alarm is something that will prevent you from performing your habit. For example, to avoid getting up late, set an alarm and decide that you need to make a little effort to reach it to turn it off.Tell your family and friends about your decision so that they can prevent you from performing the bad habit and also remind you of the promise you made to yourself.Reward yourself every time you stop yourself from performing the bad habit. This will encourage you to break the bad habit and at the same time make you happy. There are habits that people have carried with them for years and it will surely take some time to give them up. However, breaking a habit is a better choice than letting it grow into an addiction(瘾). Try giving up a bad habit, and feel the difference in yourself. You will be proud of yourself and I will certainly congratulate you on it.Here are some English learning tips to help you improve your English. Getting kids to do their homeworkcan be a challenge, and when they do sit down to study, a lot of other problems can appear.Doing homework may not be as fun as playing video games or chatting with friends, but it shouldn't be something that kids hate. Your children's assignments(任务) should help them build a skill or learn something new.You can help by being a homework monitor, stepping in to answer questions or offer encouragement. This gives you a chance to see what they are learning and how well they understand the material. It helps you understand their learning style and shows your care about their education. Many kids refuse to study by asking why they have to learn things they'll never use in real life. If your son or daughter shows little interest in their assignments, you can make them seem more important by pointing out ways you use them in daily life.If you feel that your kids are overloaded (超负荷), you can talk about it with the teachers. If you think it takes your children too long to finish their homework, try to make a decision whether the problem lies in having too much homework or managing time poorly. If your children complain of boredom while doing homework, give them the following suggestions:Get help from friends: If your children are bored with an assignment, let them call a friend for help or invite a friend to work on it with them.Add physical activities: Set mini-goals for homework and allow time for relaxing, jumping around, or a snack after each goal is completed. For a kid who can't sit still, find active ways to study.Turn the tables: Let your children teach you a lesson. Let them give you a test on the things they have just learnt.CHave you ever asked your relatives or friends if there is Wifi in their houses? Have you ever searched for Wi-fi when you are at restaurants or hotels? The answers will probably be “Yes”. Most of us want Wi-fi everywhere as if we can't live without it. But we can only use free Wi-fi in some public places. We still have to spend some money accessing(连接)the Internet at most time. Here comes a piece of good news.A rich, powerful organization in the USA called the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) has decided to changethe age of online computing (计算) completely by giving free Wi-fi to every person on the Earth. They will send up hundreds of satellites into low Earth orbit(轨道).This is because they have made a survey and found that only 60% of the world's population have been able to get information on the Internet. And this is also because many countries are unable to offer people the necessary infrastructure(基础设施) to access the web.We can expect to use free Wifi everywhere in the near future.参考答案中考题型集训(三) 任务型阅读|题组训练1|A1.start 2.Getting 3.love 4.Size5.fixed/regular 6.remind7.where8.public9.best10.waysB1.bones 2.grow 3.from 4.support 5.half6.kinds/types7.around8.smaller9.sound10.WhenC1.help 2.harm 3.worry 4.giving 5.free6.angry7.discussion8.hard/difficult9.support10.month|题组训练2|A1.largest/biggest 2.population 3.famous4.spend 5.liked/loved 6.long7.necessary 8.Cycling9.relaxing10.summerB 1.communication 2.Wherever3.Advantages 4.easily 5.lots/plenty6.lucky7.forget8.themselves9.eyes10.importantC 1.time 2.stays/remains 3.Pop 4.replaced5.ways 6.concert7.played8.love9.Though/Although10.never|题组训练3|A 1.result 2.actively 3.Western 4.reach 5.fashionable 6.Developing7.destroy8.latest9.situation10.achievedB 1.difficult/hard 2.How/Ways 3.Accept 4.developed 5.results/effects/influence6.alarm7.family8.succeed9.better10.proudC 1.Tips/Suggestions/Advice 2.weekly3.progress 4.encouraged rmation/knowledge 6.connect7.pronunciation8.often/times9.easier/easy10.creating|题组训练4|A 1.Ways 2.gives 3.relax 4.Having5.hobbies 6.nervous7.healthier8.twenty/209.imagine10.outsideB 1.homework 2.skill 3.style 4.care5.Problems/Difficulties eless7.Talk8.take9.boring10.activities/thingsC 1.Wi-fi 2.Present 3.without 4.costs5.decision 6.Reasons/Causes7.population 8.provide9.What10.cover。

话题1创新技术Passage 1It seems like technology is everywhere・Computers and smart phones are at the center of almost eveiything we do. They constantly (持续地)require our attention. We text our friends with them during the day, sleep with them by our beds and check our messages as soon as we wake up.In the future we will use calm technology which was first developed by scientist Mark Weiser in the 1970s. In his opinion, calm technology works quietly but constantly. We know it is there, but we don,t pay much attention to it. According to Mark, the best technology should be invisible(隐形的)and let you live your liffe. We already use many different types of calm technology in our everyday life. Do you have a smoke alarm in your house? That smoke alarm is always there, checking the air for smoke and quietly keeping you safe .It only reminds you it's there when you've burnt your bread! Or there may be lights in your home or school. When somebody passes in front of their sensor (传感器),the lights turn on. You don't think about this type of technology until you see the light go on.In the future, our houses will use calm technology to open the door for us. Or even to choose the best music for our mood. The minute we walk through the door, our house will respond by turning on the lights and music, and perhaps even starting to prepare our dinner!1〜2题完成句子;3题简略回答问题;4题找出并写下第三段的主题句;5题将文中画线句子译成汉语。

2018年中考英语全国各地试卷汇编专题:任务型阅读(含答案和解析(2018江苏扬州)五、任务型阅读Beyond its influence on health, not getting enough sleep can lead to car accidents or other mistakes. Here are what sleep researchers have found about how to sleep. How much sleep do we actually need? It is known that all of us naturally need no less than eight hours of sleep per night. When we sleep below six hours per 24, we’re at an increased risk of health problems. Some of us think we can make up any of those hours lost during the week on the weekends. Sadly, there is no storage system for sleep in the brain. Can we train ourselves to need less sleep? As a study in 1964, a 17-year-old boy named Randy Garden stayed awake for 264 hours. How many people could doanything close to that without dying? When you are reading this, you might say you usually get six hours of sleep and feel just fine. Sleep experts often compare people without enough sleep to drunk drivers: They don’t get behind the wheel thinking they’re probably going to kill someone. Can we drink coffee instead of sleeping? Coffee can keep us awake. Remember, too much coffee may throw off our sleep and energy cycles. So limit coffee and avoid caffeine for hour to six hours before bedtime. Does a sense of purpose connect to sleep quality?A new research suggests a kind of strong connection between purpose in life and sleep. People who have a greater sense of purpose usually have better physical and mental health, which in turn explains their higher-quality sleep. Perhaps developing a sense of purpose in life could be as useful at improving sleep as the healthy habitsabove. Passage 1The Art of the ElephantsIf your cat walked across something you were painting and left footprints behind, would you consider your cat an artist? What if your bird held a colored pencil in its beak(喙)and painted on a piece of paper? Most people may think of animal art as a joke, but some people have been taking it very seriously.Elephants were used for hundreds of years in Thailand’s logging industry(伐木业). They moved wood from forests in areas where there were no roads. At the beginning of this century, when the forests of Thailand began to quickly disappear, the government put a stop to logging. All of a sudden, many elephants in Thailand no longer had a way to make a living. Some elephants were treated badly. Others had to try to live on their own and couldn’t find enough food to eat. There were once tens of thousands of elephants in Thailand. Today, there are less than five thousand. When two Russian American artists, Vitaly Komar and Alex Melamid, first heard about the troubled elephants in Thailand, they knew that something had to be done to forever change the way people treated Thai elephants. Then, they came up with an idea to help these elephants.Komar and Melamid visited elephant camps in Thailand and beganto show the elephant trainers how to teach the elephants to paint. At first, the trainers had to guide the elephants’ trunks. The elephants became more comfortable doing this with practice—and lots of sweet snacks—and finally started to paint on their own. The strange idea that Komar and Melamid had to save the elephants actually began to work. They even helped found several elephant art schools in Thailand and in other Asian countries. The elephants and their trainers go there to learn about painting and get supplies they need.Today, people begin to buy elephant artworks from galleries(画廊) all around the world. Some are even willing to pay more than $2,000 for the works of the elephant artists! Some people compare the cheerful, brightly-colored artworks to the works of some great abstract(抽象地) painters. Some people are just happy to buy these special and original(原创地) artworks. Others think they are helping the troubled elephants in this way. The next time you see a piece of colorful abstract art, find out who the artist is. You just may be surprised at what you learn!1.What may most people think of animal art?___________________________________________________________ 2. Passage 2Albino PowerI was born an albino(白化病患者)in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1945. No one in my family had ever known what an albino was, what it meant to be an albino, what had to be done differently because I was an albino. My parents and friends treated me just like they treated everybody else. They was just about the best thing they could have done. It gave me a leg up on trusting myself, so when troubles came along, I could deal with them.Truly, my schoolbook photo always looked like a snowball with two pieces of coal for eyes. Like most albinos, I had terrible eyesight, but the fact that I could hardly see didn’t worry me all that much.Kids laughed at me, calling me “Whitey”. People stared at me when I held reading material right at the tip of my nose so I could see it well enough to read. Even when I was eight or nine, movie theater workers started asking me to pay adult prices because I “looked older”.The worst part for me was that because my eyesight was so bad that I couldn’t play sports very well. but I didn’t give up trying. I practiced playing basketball every day. And I studied harder. Finally, I got better at school and loved it. By the time I got to college, I was double majoring(专业), going to summer school and taking part in every kind of after-class activity I could find. I had learned to be proud of being an albino. I tried my best to make “albino” positive work. And I decided to make my living with my eyes—and in sports.I couldn’t see well enough to play sports, but with a good and long-lasting education and the drive to do it, I could make a living involved in the area I loved. I’ve done it now for more than thirty years in print and in video, and now in cyberspace. People make jokes about how I’m the only “blind editor(编辑)” they know, but the jokes are friendly smiles now, and some of them are signs of respect. And I make jokes about being an albino. I have even developed an all-white routine, if you could call it that.I was just a proud albino kid from the coal country of Pennsylvania.I now realize that being born an albino helped me to get over difficulties, become confident, and be proud of my personal achievements.1.How did the writer’s parents and friend s treat him?___________________________________________________________ 2.Why couldn’t the writer play sports very well?___________________________________________________________ 3.What was the writer doing by the time he got to college?___________________________________________________________ 4.What does the writer think of the “blind editor” jokes now?___________________________________________________________ 5.What does “Albino Power” mean to the writer?___________________________________________________________【主旨大意】本文是一篇记叙文,作者天生患白化病,也正是这个白化病让作者战胜生活中的困难,获得自信。
