Unit2 My Favourite Season
A Let’s Learn
Good morning my respected judges! It’s my great honor and pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you.
What I’m going to talk about is Unit Two—What’s Your Favourite Season—in the PEP Primary English Students’ Book—Book2 in Grade Five. My topic is made of seven parts. It includes analysis of teaching material, analysis of students, teaching objectives, teaching key and difficult points, teaching methods and aids, and teaching procedures as well as blackboard design. First, let me talk about the teaching material. ⅠAnalysis of teaching material
The main topic in this unit is about season. There are three major parts in this unit, including Part A, Part B and Part C. Obviously, it is impossible to finish this unit in one lesson hour. What I’m going to talk about is the most important section of Part A Let’s Learn, which is the foundation of this unit. By studying this section, students know the four seasons—spring, summer, fall and winter. They can speak, read, listen and write the centre words in correct ways.
Moreover, students can ask and answer the question: What’s your favorite season This is the key sentence of this lesson.
ⅡAnalysis of students
My teaching subjects are primary school students. They have learned English for two years, but still know little about English. They know few words, they can hardly listen, speak, read and write new words even sentences. But they are curious, active and fond of various activities. They can learn things as well as quickly if they want to learn. So interests are the best teachers for students.
Therefore, on studying the teaching material and analysis of the regulation of mind, I put forward the teaching objectives according to New English Lesson Standard.
Ⅲ Teaching objectives
1.Knowledge objectives:
(1)Students can read, speak, listen and write the new words: season, spring,
summer, fall, winter and favorite;
(2)Students know the sentence pattern: What’s your favorite season And answer
it accordingly.
2.Ability objectives:
(1)Enable students to read, speak, listen and write new words correctly;
(2)Help students use the sentence pattern to ask each other what’s your favorite
season And answer it accordingly.
3.Emotion objectives:
(1)Help students increase their interests and set up self-confidence in English
learning;
(2)Encourage students to have desire to learn English well and enjoy the lesson. Ⅳ Teaching key and difficult points
1.How to help students be able to read, speak, listen and write the new
words (season, spring, summer, fall, winter favorite).
2.How to let students master the sentence: What’s your favorite season And
answer it.
Ⅴ Teaching methods and aids
1.Teaching methods
(1)Situational Teaching method
During the teaching procedure, I will make the situational conversation for the students. By the role-playing game, students make their own conversation by
themselves according to their reality. By doing this game, students can have
chances to practice their oral English.
(2)Demonstration
For each word and sentence, before students start to learn, I will demonstrate
how to read it for them.
(3)Task-based teaching method
For students, to learn a new word or sentence is a task. Only finished the tasks can they master the words and sentences.
(4)Interactive Teaching method
To teach a word or sentence, most of the time, I will use games to help students.
So interaction between teachers and students is so important and inevitable.
(5)Group Study Method
I will divide my class into four or six groups and each group has its own name.
Group study plays a very important role in my lesson. By doing this, students can study English in competitive cooperation.(For primary school students, they can get really competitive easily.)
2.Teaching aids
In the teaching process, I will apply blackboard, word cards(单词卡片), sentence strips(句型条), pictures, tape recorder and multi-media computer to arouse students’ interests in learning English.
