3. Love and Learning

Different people look at learning and love in different ways.

Some college teachers argue that students should give up love for the sake of learning. They maintain that love makes us time consuming and tears on away from learning. If a student falls in love, he will certainly fall behind in his courses. Students, however, hold that forbidding love affairs among college students is not good. They insist that a student who falls in love will study harder and will make great progress. They don’t believe that a person who has not fallen in love can concentrate on learning.

As a popular saying goes, “Everything has two sides.” So does love. If you don’t give yourself away in love but takes it as a drive, you will make more progress in your learning and have good scores. But if you are infatuated with love, you will be a definite failure in your studies.

4. Should Euthanasia Be Legalized?

Euthanasia, a quiet and easy death, or “mercy killing” as we call it recently has made the headlines frequently. Many people applaud it and argue that euthanasia should be legalized.

As is pointed out, to practice euthanasia can benefit both the patient and his family. To a terminally ill person who is suffering excruciating pains day and night or living “like a vegetable”, to be allowed to end his life painlessly is a good release. To his family it is also a big relief considering the financial and emotional drain on them. However, the legalization of euthanasia may also bring about problems that our society have not previously faced. For example, is it humane to end the life of a terminally ill patient who does not want to die? Is it possible that euthanasia could be taken advantage of for criminal purposes?

Since the legalization of euthanasia will raise serious moral and social issues, the decision our society makes about it will undoubtedly have tremendous consequences in society.
