The Great Depression
The depression started with the fall in stock prices that began around September4,1929. It caused the stock market crash, bank failures, reduction in purchasing and human suffering.
Coolidge Prosperity (柯立芝繁荣)
( 1923—1929) In WWI, America accumulated a great amount of wealth by providing weapons , arms and loans to Britain and France .After the war, the American economy developed rapidly at an unprecedented speed. The period of prosperity was named after the president, Calvin Coolidge .
The Mental Void and Helplessness
Because of the cruelty of WWI, many people started to doubt with traditional values (nationality, glory, democracy and freedom) and they lived a decadent life without religions ,faiths and right social values. Materialism and hedonism prevailed in the whole country.
