7）邀请信

请信可能是涉及到重要会议、活动的正式邀请，也可能是亲戚、朋友之间的非正式邀请。因而，邀请信可能是一封公务信函，也可能是一封私人信函。前者要求文体正式，措辞庄重；而后者要亲切热情，语言要尽量口语化。

邀请信的正文可分为三个段落，其功能为：

第一段：说明写信意图--- 邀请；

第二段：邀请的理由和活动内容；

第三段：表达恳切的盼望，并希望尽快得到答复。

例如：

Directions:

You are planning to invite Professor Wang to give a lecture on American literature. Write a letter of invitation to him, informing him of the topic, time and location of the lecture.

You should write about 100 words on ANSWER SHEET 2. Do not sign your own name at the end of the letter; use “Li Ming” instead. You do not need to write the address. (10 points)

Dear Professor Wang,

On behalf of the English Department, I am very pleased to invite you to give a lecture on post-war American novel in Lecture Room 206 of the Yifu Library, from 17 P.M. to 18.30 P.M. on March 18 (Thursday).

We hope that you could accept our invitation. Your lecture is a major program of the forthcoming Campus English Festival and we plan to make it a splendid success.

We would appreciate it if you could give us a reply at your earliest convenience so that necessary arrangements can be made. We are looking forward to benefiting from your wisdom.
