开场:我为什么要讲这个话题。

This Tuesday,when we in interface design class, our Professor told us that the next semester we are looking for internships and he asked what kind of jobs and positions we want. To my surprise, one girl said, I do not know What to do, anyway, finally get married and have children,

And Then,i thought of the point of speech today——to be a woman leader.

女性领导者少现状?

So for any of us in this room today, let's start out by admitting we're lucky. We don't live in the world our grandmothers lived in, where career choices for women were so limited. And if you're in this room today, most of us grew up in a world where we had basic civil rights. we are equals under the law. But the promise of equality is not equality. As we sit here looking at this world, we have to admit something that’s sad but true: men run the world. It's a real problem that women are not making it to the top of any profession anywhere in the world. The numbers tell the story quite clearly. Look at this statistics.190 heads of state -- nine are women. Of all the people in parliament in the world, 13 percent are women. In the corporate sector, women at the top, C-level jobs, board seats -- tops out at 15 percent. The numbers have not moved since 2002 and are going in the wrong direction. And even in the non-profit world, a world we sometimes

think of as being led by more women, women at the top: 20 percent.That means that when the big decisions are made, the decisions that affect all of our world, we do not have an equal voice at that table.

为什么现在女性领导者太少?男性比女性更有野心

maybe, most importantly, we need to start talking about how fewer women than men, aspire to the very top jobs. We will not close the leadership gap until we close the professional ambition gap. We need more women not just to sit at the table, but as President Obama said long ago, to take their rightful seats at the head of the table.

Studies show very clearly that in our country, in the college-educated part of the population, men are more ambitious than women. They’re more ambitious the day they graduate from college; they remain more ambitious every step along their career path. We will never close the achievement gap until we close the ambition gap. But if all young women start to lean in, we can close the ambition gap right here, right now, if every single one of you leans in. Leadership belongs to those who take it. Leadership starts with you.

The next step is you’re going to have to believe in yourself potentially more than you do today. Studies also show that compared to men, women underestimate their performance. If you ask men and women questions about completely objective criteria such as GPAs or sales goals, men get
