What is Electronic Commerce?
E-commerce is a general term for any type of business, or commercial transaction that involves the transfer of information across the Internet. This covers a range of different types of businesses from consumer-based retail sites, like , through auction and music sites like eBay or , to business exchanges trading goods or services between corporations. Electronic Commerce is doing commerce with the use of computers, networks and commerce-enabled software (more then just online shopping). Electronic commerce is an emerging model of new selling and merchandising tools in which buyers are able to participate in all phases of a purchase decision, while stepping through those processes electronically rather than in a physical store or by phone (with a physical catalog). The processes in electronic commerce include enabling a customer to access product information, select items to purchase, purchase items securely, and have the purchase settled financially.
