Hugo was at the forefront of the romantic literary movement with his play Cromwell and drama Hernani. Many of his works have inspired music, both during his lifetime and after his death, including the musicals Notre-Dame de Paris and Les Misérables. He produced more than 4,000 drawings in his lifetime, and campaigned for social causes such as the abolition of capital punishment.
Though a committed royalist when he was young, Hugo's views changed as the decades passed, and he became a passionate supporter of republicanism; his work touches upon most of the political and social issues and the artistic trends of his time. He is buried in the Panthéon in Paris. His legacy has been honoured in many ways, including his portrait being placed on French currency.
The main line of the story revolves around the protagonist's release of criminal Jean Valjean's attempt to atone. The novel attempts to examine his foreclosure crimes as a result of the social environment at the time. This grand novel incorporates the history of France and the architecture, politics, moral philosophy, law, justice, and religious beliefs of Paris. It examines the nature of goodness, evil, and law, as well as the types and nature of love and affection.

He originally is one poor family background worker, because the income insufficient family member gets by, by one time stolethe bread is arrested is put in prison. On May 22, 1885, Hugo died of pneumonia at the age of 83. The whole country mourns and mourns. He struggled for freedom, equality and friendship for a lifetime and was a staunch defender of French culture. In 1877 when he was 75 years old, he wrote:

This story tells us about kind. Higo hopes the society becomes clear and human. So his plot bases on Ran A Rang 一a miserable man. Then he tell the story about the poor woman -Fantine, next is Cosette. All these stories has the comments, that is the miserable life because of the persecution of the upper class. In facts, Hfigo was raging of the present society.
Although he asked the poor to pay funerals, President Jules Greve held a state funeral for Hugo on June 1st. His nation was in a state of mourning and more than 2 million people attended the funeral procession. His body was slowly transported by the poor hearse to the Arc de Triomphe at the end of the ChampsElysees, covered in black yarn and placed under the Arc de Triomphe by the designer of the Paris Opera House. Nine built a huge stop-up platform to stop the night. Hugo was buried in the Pantheon and slept with Dumas and Zola. Many French towns have streets named after him.
