Scope
This standard defines the requirements for corrosion protection of black paint finishes on metal sur‐faces (code letter x in Volkswagen standard VW 13750). It does not apply to paint finishes on zinc-coated metal surfaces (see Technical Supply Specification TL 227), to decorative protective coat‐ings (see TL 218 and TL 52451), or to paint finishes on chassis parts (see TL 262).Description

Surface protection types
The surface protection types listed in table 1 apply.

No special coating method requirements; permissible only after agreement with Volkswagen Materials Engineering (GQL-M/1) and/or Audi Materials Engineering (I/GQ-3) and the appropriate Design Engineering department in each case;
no corrosion protection requirements.
Ofl-x100, Ofl-x300,Ofl-x600Pretreatment not specified (not possible due to manufacturing reasons);Single-layer liquid paint by any method, alternatively with cathodic electro‐coat (KTL).
Ofl-x330
Alternative pretreatment (based on zirconium oxide), zinc-phosphated,iron-phosphated, or manganese-phosphated, or with tricationic phosphat‐ing;
Single-layer liquid paint by any method, alternatively KTL (e.g., for propeller shafts).
