Isolation Board for RL78 and E1
This isolation board is designed for RL78 (MCU) and E1 (Emulator) only. Both 3.3V and 5V power supply are OK for this board.
There are two jumpers on the board, P1 and P3
Jumper P1 is designed to make sure the isolation board is compatible for various kinds of RESET circuits on target boards. For motor control boards like SPIN4-S, SPIN4-L, must short pin 2 and 3.
If the Reset circuits on the target board has a reset button, to prevent the reset circuit from damaging the isolation chip output pin. The jumper should short the pin 2 and 3.
Jumper P3 shorts the RESET and TRESET at target side. In some applications, there is no need to reset at target side, just short these two pins.
There are also two different connecters to the target board, one is common connecter JP2, the other is a small 5 pin connector for SPIN4-S or SPIN4-L. If this connecter is used, shorting the jumper P3 is needed.
The following figures are the connection example for MCU and Emulator.
After the connection, and before the isolation board can be used, you need to make sure both the target board side and emulator side need to supply power (3.3V or 5.0V is OK) to the isolation board. Both sides have each LED to indicate whether the power is turned on.
