Xuchang University library is called the Run Run Shaw library.
There are 16 reading rooms now in the library,reading seats more than 3600, the opening time of the week up to 94 hours, network service 24 hours uninterrupted.
By the end of 2014, the library has a paper book of nearly 2 million, ordering 1800 kinds of newspapers and periodicals.Besides, the library has 18 Chinese or Foreign Language Databaseand it has more than thirty thousand Chinese and foreign periodicals.
Library has always attached great importance to the construction of literature information resources, to provide a strong guarantee for the school teaching and scientific research work.
There are six departments in the library，namely: the general department, editorial department, borrowing department, Periodical Department, technical advice and medical department.
The following is my introduction to the characteristics of the library.
First,the library is rich in collecting books. Library has the
" The great encyclopedia", "Encyclopedia of Britain" and other important books.Soit can basically meet the needs of teaching and scientific research.
Second is the diversification of services. Library has always insisted on the principle of using and collectingat the same time.
Third isthe social service achievements.It has trained a large number of professionals in the field of Library intelligence for Xuchang city.
Library follow the "service education, readers first" service concept, providing nutrition for the school, training a large number of talents.In recent years, with the progress of information technology, the service content of the library is constantly expanding, and the ability to support the teaching and research has been gradually improved.
许昌学院图书馆名为邵逸夫图书馆。

图书馆现有书库及阅览室16个，阅览座位3600多个，每周开馆时间达94小时，网络服务24小时不间断。

截止2014年年底，图书馆拥有纸本藏书近200万册，年订购纸本报刊1800多种，电子图书近17万种，中外文数据库18个，中外文电子期刊3万多种。

图书馆一贯重视文献信息资源建设，为学校教学科研工作提供有力的文献信息保障。

图书馆目前的机构设置为六个部室，分别为：综合科、采编部、借阅部、期刊部、技术与咨询部、医学分馆。

下面由我来为大家介绍下图书馆的特色。

首先是收藏文献数量较多，拥有《大美百科全书》、《不列颠百科全书》等重要图书。

基本能够满足读者的教学科研需求。

第二是服务方式多元化。

图书馆一直坚持藏、用并重的原则。

第三是社会服务成绩斐然。

为许昌市十几个单位培训了一大批图书馆情报方面的专业人员。

图书馆遵循“服务育人、读者至上”的服务理念，为学校提供营养，培养大批人才。

近年来，随着信息技术的进步，图书馆的服务内容不断拓展，对教学科研的支撑力度和服务能力逐步提升。
