Its surreal and dreamlike qualities have inspired countless adaptations, interpretations, and discussions. In this essay, we will delve into three major aspects of this beloved classic: its narrative, characters, and themes."Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is a frame narrative, where young Alice falls down a rabbit hole and encounters a strange and wonderful world. The episodic nature of thestory allows for a series of seemingly unrelated encounters and conversations that explore different aspects of the human condition.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a fantastic work that has left a deep impression on me. The story takes me on a journey through a whimsical and imaginative world, filled with peculiar characters and bizarre situations. It is a tale that combines elements of fantasy, adventure, and satire, making it a highly entertaining and thought-provoking read. One of the aspects that I find fascinating about the book is the way it challenges conventional logic and reality. Alice encounters various absurd situations and characters that defy the laws of nature and common sense. For example, she shrinks and grows in size, she meets a talking rabbit wearing a waistcoat, and she attends a tea party with a Mad Hatter and a March Hare. These surreal events not only captivate the reader's imagination but also serve as a commentary on the absurdity of the adult world.Furthermore, the book is filled with memorable andquirky characters. The Cheshire Cat, with its mischievous grin and disappearing act, is a symbol of ambiguity and mystery. The Queen of Hearts, with her irrational and tyrannical behavior, represents the irrationality and unpredictability of authority. These characters, along with many others, add depth and complexity to the story, makingit a rich and engaging read.In addition to its imaginative storyline and characters, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is also known for its useof language and wordplay. Lewis Carroll, the author, incorporates puns, riddles, and nonsensical rhymes throughout the book. This not only adds humor and entertainment value but also challenges the reader's linguistic skills. For instance, the Mad Hatter's riddle "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" has become a famous example of Carroll's wordplay.Overall, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a timeless classic that continues to captivate readers of all ages. Its imaginative world, unique characters, and clever use of language make it a must-read for anyone seeking an escape from reality and a journey into the realm of imagination.

Mons Baker

(Mons Baker 2011: 172)

I know that!”Alice cried eagerly. “You take some flour—”“Where
do you pick the flower?” the White Queen asked. “In a garden or in the hedges?”

We called him Tortoise because he taught us.
