C3T2When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?Overall, I disagree with the opinion expressed. I would like to begin by pointing out that “traditional skills and ways of life” are not automatically of one country, but of a culture or community. In many ways, the history of cultivation is the history of technology: from the discovery of fire to the invention of the wheel to the development of the Internet, we have been moving on from previous ways of doing things. Some technologies, such as weapons of mass destruction, are of negative impact. Others, such as medical advances, positively help people to live better or longer, and so very much help traditions ways of life. Surely, few people would seek to preserve such traditions as living in caves.Interestingly, technology can positively contribute to the keeping alive of traditional skills and ways of life. For example, the populations of some islands are too small to have normal schools. Rather than breaking up families by sending children to the mainland, education authorities have been able to use the Internet to deliver schooling online. In addition, the Internet, and modern refrigeration techniques, are being used to keep alive the traditional skills of production salmon, it can now be ordered from, and delivered to, anywhere in the world. In conclusion, without suggesting that all technology is necessarily good, I think it is by no means “pointless”, in any way, to try to keep traditions alive with technology. We should not ignore technology, because it can be our friend and support our way of life.C4T2Happiness is considered to be very important in life. Why is it difficult to define? What factors are important in achieving happiness?Happiness is very difficult to define, because it means so many different things to different people. While some people link happiness to wealth and material success, others think it lies in emotions and loving personal relationships. Yet others think that spiritual paths, rather than either the material world or relationships with people, are the only way to true happiness.Because people interpret happiness for themselves in so many different ways, it is difficult to give any definition that is true for everyone. However, if there are different kinds of happiness for different individuals then the first step in achieving it would be to have a degree of了解某事self-knowledge. A person needs to know who he or she is before being able to know what it is that makes him or her happy.Of cause, factors such as loving relationships, good health, the skills to earn a living and a peaceful environment all contribute to our happiness too. But this does not mean that people without these conditions cannot be happy.Overall, I think an ability to keep clear perspective in life is a more essential factor in achieving happiness. By that I mean an ability to have a clear sense of what is important in our lives (the welfare of our families, the quality of our relationships, making other people happy, etc.) and a what is not (a problem at work, getting annoyed about trivial things, etc.).Like self-awareness, this is also very difficult to achieve, but I think these are two factors that may be the most important for achieving happiness.C4T4In many countries schools have severe problems with student behavior. What do you think are the cause of this? What solutions can you suggest?Poor student behavior seems to be increasingly widespread problem and I think that modern lifestyles are probably responsible for this.(替换….的原因)In many countries, the birth is decreasing so that families are smaller with fewer children. These children are often spoilt宠坏了, not in terms of love and attention because working parents do not have the time for this, but in more material ways. They are allowed to have whatever they want, regardless of price, and to behave as they please. This means that the children grow up without consideration for others and without any understanding of where their standard of living comes from.(关心和理解)When they get to school age they have not learnt any self control or discipline. They have less respect for their teachers and refuse to obey school rules in the way that their parents did.Teachers continually complain about this problem and measures should be taken to combat the situation. But I think the solution to the problem lies with the families, who need to be more aware of the future consequences of spoiling their children. If they could raise them to be considerate of others and to be social, responsible individuals, the whole community would benefit.Perhaps parenting classes are needed to help them to do this, and high quality nursery schools could be established that would support families more in terms of raising the next generation. The government should fund this kind of parental support, because this is no longer a problem for individual families, but for society as a whole.C4GTBSome people believe that children should be allowed to stay at home and play until they are six or seven years old. Others believe that it is important for young children to go to school as soon as possible. What do you think are the advantages of attending school from a young age?In many places today, children start primary school at around the age of six or seven. However, because it is more likely now that both parents work, there is little opportunity for children to stay in their own home up to that age. Instead, they will probably go to a nursery school when they are much younger. While some people think this may be damaging to a child’s development, or to a child’s relationship with their parents, in fact there are many advantages to having school experience at a young age.Firstly, a child will learn to interact with a lot of different people and some children learn to communicate very early because of this. They are generally more confident and independent than children who stay at home with their parents and who are not used to strangers or new situations. Such children find their first day at school at the age of six very frightening and this may have a negative effect on how they learn.Another advantage of going to school at an early age is that children develop faster socially. They make friends and learn how to get on with other children of a similar age. This is often not possible at home because they are the only children, or because their brothers or sisters are older or younger. So overall, I believe that, attending school from a young age is good for most children. They still spend plenty of time at home with their parents, so they can benefit from both environments. In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies.Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people to do this.It is quite common these days for young people in many countries to have a break from studying after graduating from high school. This trend is not restricted to rich students who have the money to travel, but is also evident among poorer students who choose to work and become economically independent for a period of time. The reasons for this trend may involve the recognition that a young adult who passes directly from school to university is rather restricted in terms of general knowledge and experience of the world. By contrast, those who have spent some time earning a living or traveling to other places have a broader view of life and better personal resources to draw on. (Furthermore,) They tend to be more independent, which is a very important factor in academic study and research, as well as giving them an advantage in terms of coping with the challenges of student life. However, there are certainly dangers/risks in taking time off at that important age. Young adults may end up never returning to their studies or finding it difficult to readapt to an academic environment. They may think that it is better to continue in a particular job, or to do something completely different from a university course. But overall, I think this is less likely today, when academic qualifications are essential for getting a reasonable career. My view is that young people should be encouraged to broaden their horizons. That is the best way for them to get a clear perspective of what they are hoping to do with their lives and why. Students with such a perspective usually tends to be the most effective and motivated ones and taking a year off may be the best way to gain this.Research indicates that the characteristics we are born with have much more influence on our personality and development than any experiences we may have in our life.Which do you consider to be the major influence?Today the way we consider human psychology and mental development is heavily influenced by the genetic sciences. We now understand the importance of inherited characteristics more than ever before. Yet we are still unable to decide whether an individual's personality and development are more influenced by genetics factors (nature) or by the environment (nurture).Research, relating to identical twins, has highlighted how significant inherited characteristics can be for an individual's life. But whether these characteristics are able to develop within the personality of an individual surely depends on whether the circumstances allow such a development. It seems that the experiences we have in life are so unpredictable and so powerful, that they can boost or over-ride other influences, and there seems to be plenty of research findings to confirm this.My own view is that there is no one major influence in a person's life. Instead, the traits we inherit from our parents and the situations and experiences that we encounter in life are constantly interacting. It is the interaction of the two that shapes a person's personality and dictates how that personality develops. If this were not true, then we would be able to predict the behaviour and character of a person from the moment they were born.In conclusion, I do not think that either nature or nurture is the major influence on a person, but that both have powerful effects. How these factors interact is still unknown today and they remain largely unpredictable in a person's life.C5GTBNowadays we are producing more and more rubbish. Why do you think this is happening? What can governments do to help reduce the amount of rubbish produced?I think it is true that in almost every country today each household and family produces a large amount of waste every week. Most of this rubbish comes from the packaging from the things we buy, such as processed food. But even if we buy fresh food without packaging, we still produce rubbish from the plastic bags used everywhere to carry shopping home. The reason why we have so much packaging is that we consume so much more on a daily basis than families did in the past. Convenience is also very important in modern life, so we buy packaged or canned food that can be transported from long distances and stored until we need it, first in the supermarket, and then at home. However, the amount of waste produced is also a result of our tendency to use something once and throw it away. We forget that even the cheapest plastic bag has used up valuable resources and energy to produce. We also forget that it is a source of pollution and difficult to dispose of.I think, therefore, that governments need to raise this awareness in the general public. Children can be educated about environmental issues at school, but adults need to take action. Governments can encourage such action by putting taxes on packaging, such as plastic bags, by providing recycling services and by fining households and shops that do not attempt to recycle their waste. With the political will, such measures could really reduce the amount of rubbish we produce. Certainly nobody wants to see our resources used up and our planet poisoned by waste.Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal of more money than people in other important professionals. Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. As a result of constant media attention, sports professionals in my country have become stars and celebrities, and those at the top are paid huge salaries. Just like movie stars, they live extravagant lifestyles with huge houses and cars. Many people find their rewards unfair, especially when comparing these super salaries with those of top surgeons or research scientists, or even leading politicians who have the responsibility of governing the country. However, sports salaries are not determined by considering the contribution to society a person makes, or the level of responsibility he or she holds. Instead, they reflect the public popularity of sport in general and the level of public support that successful stars can generate. So the notion of ‘fairness’ is not the issue. Those who feel that sports stars’ salaries are justified might argue that the number of professionals with real talent are very few, and the money is a recognition of the skills and dedication a person needs to be successful. Competition is constant and a player is tested every time they perform in their relatively short career. The pressure from the media is intense and there is little privacy out of the spotlight. So all of these factors may justify the huge earnings.Personally, I think that the amount of money such sports stars make is more justified than the huge earnings of movie stars, but at the same time, it indicates that our society places more value on sport than on more essential professions and achievements. Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding change. Others, however, think that change is always a good thing.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.Over the last half century the pace of change in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectations. This has been driven by technological and scientific breakthroughs that are changing the whole way we view the world on an almost daily basis. This means that change is not always a personal option, but an inescapable fact of life, and we need to constantly adapt to keep pace with it.Those people who believe they have achieved some security by doing the same, familiar things are living in denial. Even when people believe they are resisting change themselves, they cannot stop the world around them from changing. Sooner or later they will find that the familiar jobs no longer exist, or that the ‘safe’ patterns of behavior are no longer appropriate. However, reaching the conclusion that change is inevitable is not the same as assuming that ‘change is always for the better’. Unfortunately, it is not always the case that new things are promoted because they have good impacts for the majority of people. A lot of innovations are made with the aim of making money for a few. This is because it is the rich and powerful people in our society who are able to impose changes (such as in working conditions or property developments) that are in their own interests. In conclusion, I would say that change can be stimulating and energizing for individuals when they pursue it themselves, but that all change, including that which is imposed on people, does not necessarily have good outcomes.C6GTBUsing a computer every day can have more negative than positive effects on young children.Do you agree or disagree?I tend to agree that young children can be negatively affected by too much time spent on the computer every day. This is partly / primarily because sitting in front of a screen for too long can be damaging to both the eyes and the physical posture of young child, regardless of what they are using the computer for. However, the main concern is about the type of computer activities that attract children. These are often electronic games that tend to be very intense and rather violent. The player is usually the “hero” of the game and too much exposure can encourage children to be self-centered and insensitive to others.Even when children use a computer for other purposes, such as getting information or emailing friends, it is no substitute for human interaction. Spending time with other children and sharing non-virtual experiences is an important part of a children’s development that cannot be provided by a computer. In spite of this, the obvious benefits of computer skills for young children cannot be denied. Their adult world will be changing constantly in terms of technology and the Internet is the key to all the knowledge and information available in the world today. Therefore it is important that children learn at an early age to use the equipment enthusiastically and with confidence as they will need these skills throughout their studies and working lives.I think the main point is to make sure the young children do not overuse computers. Parents must ensure that their children learn to enjoy other kinds of activity and not simply sit at home, learning to live in a virtual world. It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. However, it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. The relative importance of natural talent and training is a frequent topic of discussion when people try to explain different levels of ability in, for example, sport, art or music.Obviously, education systems are based on the belief that all children can effectively be taught to acquire different skills, including those associated with sport, art or music. So from our won school experience, we can find plenty of evidence to support the view that a child can acquire these skills with continued teaching and guided practice. However, some people believe that innate talent is what differentiates a person who has been trained to play a sport or an instrument, from those who become good players. In other words, there is more to the skill than a good learned technique, and this extra talent cannot be taught, no matter how good the teacher or how frequently a child practices.I personally think that some people do have talents that are probably inherited via their genes. Such talents can give individuals a facility for certain skills that allow them to excel, while more hard-working students never manage to reach a comparable level. But, as with all questions of nature versus nurture, they are not mutually exclusive. Good musicians or artists and exceptional sports stars have probably succeeded because of both good training and natural talent. Without the natural talent, continuous training would be neither attractive nor productive, and without the training, the children would not learn how to exploit and develop their talent. In conclusion, I agree that any child can be taught particular skills, but to be really good in areas such as music, art or sport, then some natural talent is required. (282words)At most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing. What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?Nowadays many adults have full-time jobs and the proportion of their lives spent doing such jobs is very high. So feelings about one’s job must reflect how an individual feels about his or her life as whole, and because of this, job satisfaction is indeed very important for the wellbeing of that person.Employees get job satisfaction in a number of ways. Firstly, a person needs to feel that they are doing valued and valuable work, so positive feedback from superiors is very important in this respect. A sense of fulfillment is also encouraged if a worker feels the job is worth doing because it contributes to the society or the economy as a whole. Secondly, when someone feels they are improving or developing their skills through training opportunities, for example, then there is as sense of progression and purpose that rewards a worker. The sense of belonging to a team or a working community also contributes to job satisfaction because colleagues help each other to enjoy their working lives. Satisfaction is also increased by a sense of responsibility for and loyalty to a team.Of course not everyone enjoys heir work. Hard economic realities mean that many people have little choice in the kind of job they can get. In some cases an employee is working in a job that suits neither their skills nor their personality. Some jobs are repetitive and boring, and labour relations may be poor and lead to resentment and insecurity rather than to job satisfaction. However, even though it is unlikely that all workers do feel happy in their work, I think it is not unrealistic to promote more job satisfaction in any job. If the factors identified above are implemented, then any hob can be improved and more workers can feel greater degrees of job satisfaction. (303)C7GTBSome people feel that entertainers (e.g. film stars, pop musicians or sports stars) are paid too much money.Do you agree or disagree?Which other types of job should be highly paid?I agree with the view that stars in the entertainment business are usually over paid. This is true whether we are considering stars of film, sport or popular music, and it often seems that the amount of money they are able to earn in as short time cannot possibly be justified by the amount of work they do.However, it is also true that it is only those who reach the very top of their profession who can get these huge salaries. So the size of salary that stars expect is closely linked to the competition they have to overcome in order to reach success. They are, in effect, rare talents.Furthermore, the majority of stars do not hold their top positions long. Sport stars and pop stars, for example, are soon replaced by the next younger, more energetic, generation, while the good looks of most film stars quickly fade. So this relatively short working life may be some justification for the very high pay.Unfortunately, professionals from other fields, who make a much greater contribution to human society, are paid so much less that it is hard to disagree with the statement. Teachers, nurses, laboratory researchers etc. are never listed among the best-paid professionals, yet they are more important to our well-being and our future than the stars who earn their fortunes so quickly. In conclusion, I think there may be some reasons why entertainment stars earn high salaries but overall I agree that they are overpaid. The gaps between their earnings and those of people who work less selfishly for the good of society cannot be justified. Such professionals should be much better appreciated and better paid. (279)。

Some people believe parents should teach their children to be good members of society, but I and others think school is the main place for this to be taught. The main reason why I think schools should primarily be responsible for teaching children to be good members of societyis that children spend more time at school with teachers than with their parents. The children are also in a formal learning environment. This combination provides more opportunities for teachers to show children how to behave as good members of society. The teachers can also ensure that all the children have the same chance to learn the same things about being good members of society. If parents are made more responsible for teaching their children to be good members of society, then many parents might find they do not have the time for this. Parents have many responsibilities such as work and taking care of the home. Of course, many parents will naturally prefer to do other things with their children, such as having fun and visiting places of interest. In addition, some parents might not be as experienced as teachers at teaching children, so the children might not learn as well as at school. There will always be plenty of parents who have the time, willingness and abilityto teach their children to be good members of society. However, many more will find it difficult and need extra help. Some will ask other parents or consult books or websites. I do not think there is anything wrong with this, but we should not assume that all parents will do it.In summary, I think parents will often teach their children to be good members of society, but this should mainly be done at schools.(294 words)名师点题剑桥雅思8作文(二)参考范文 2——建议是父母I think that the main responsibility for teaching children tobe good members of society lies with parents rather than schools and shall outline my reasons in this essay.I think that most parents know their children well enough to be able to teach them to be good members of society. At school, children are often in large classes and therefore do not receive so much individual attention. When teaching children to be good members of society, I think that this individual attention is important, because some will have learnt about membership of society and others not. The parents will generally know this and be able to fill a ny missing gaps in their child’s knowledge.Secondly, parents and their children will probably spend more time together in a variety of social situations, whereas teachers and their students spend most of their time together in the classroom. The variety of social situations gives the parents more teaching opportunities, for example while shopping, at public events and at family gatherings. Of course, these opportunities give children the chance to learn to be good members of society from other adults, not only from their parents.Thirdly, I believe that schools and teachers should focus on academic subjects. There is often little enough time for these at schools, so making parents responsible for non- academic things, such as teaching children to become good members of society is a good idea. However, there will be opportunities for teachers to point out in class how children can be good members of society, for example when teaching children about the environment. To conclude, I think there are clear advantages in having both parents and schools teach children how to be good members of society, but parents should take most of the responsibility.(294 words)更多剑8写作范文,请点击:剑8雅思写作范文。

The pie chart shows how farmland is degraded globally. According to the chart, overgrazing was the leading cause of land degradation worldwide, accounting for 35%. This is followed by deforestation, at 30%. Another important reason why land becomes less productive is over-cultivation, which is responsible for 28% of the total degraded land. The remainder (7%) is caused by other reasons. The table compares the percentage of land degraded and the various reasons for degradation in three regions, namely North America, Europe and Oceania, during the 1990s. Of the three regions, Europe was the most seriously affected, with 23% of its agricultural land being degraded. This figure was higher than the percentages for North America and Oceania combined. In Europe, land clearance accounted for 9.8% of total degradation, whereas this only affected 0.2% of land in North America and 1.7% in Oceania. Europe also suffered from over-cultivation and overgrazing, at 7.7% and 5.5%, respectively. In contrast, Oceania has 13% of degraded land, and this was mainly caused by over-grazing (11.3%). The least affected region was North America, where only 5% of land was degraded, mainly due to over-cultivation (3.3%) and overgrazing (1.5%).In summary, overgrazing is the most serious threat to farmland worldwide and Europe was the biggest victim of land degradation in the 1990s. The pie charts show expenditure on running costs by a British school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.In all three years, the greatest expenditure was on teachers’ salaries, which rose from 40% in 1981 to 45% twenty years later. The period had also seen a significant increase in spending on furniture and equipment, from 15% to 23%, despite a fall in 1991. Insurance, which only accounted for 2% in 1981, rose fourfold to reach 8% by 2001.On the other hand, other workers’ pay fell from 28% to 15% of total spending in the same time frame. Although there was an increase in expenditure on resources such as books, which grew from 15% to 20% between 1981 and 1991, this figure dropped steeply to 9% by 2001.Overall, during the period shown, there were increases in spending for staff salaries, equipment and insurance, but mostly at the expense of resources and other workers’ salaries.。

8 Test1 Task2Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society。

Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this。

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion2. Every people need to enter into the society when they graduate from the school, and it is the result that many parents want to cultivate their children to come over this difficult. On the other hand, some parents believed that every school have already help their children mater the skills of keep life in the society. And I want to talk about both two viewpoints about this fresh argument.Being an outstanding people in the society is that a dream of everyone, and there are lots of parents also want to make their children can do every well when they get into the society.I believed that it is the truth and it is absolute very essential character for a person. Someone who can have this kinds of character always be success in the society. Parents are their children one of most close people, they have personality to make their children know how to resolve the different problems of society. The famous mother which we called her tiger mother in china would be a good example. She moved to the USA when she was a little girl, and married with an American, after several years ago she had a cute girl. However, she used the Chinese way to teach her child. Her child need to learn lots of extra class such as piano and paint, and it is made her husband very angry, but his daughter be the most popular lady now in their friend cycle when he grow up. Everyone like her because her literacy and artistic, and this she can very easy to keep a good life in the society. But in the other hand, some schools also very focus on the quality of a student, so they can always use some special lessons to teach their students about that. And in deed, school is a good area to help children master this skill because every school like a little society. There are lots of good exist example like my middle school which is a very good and beauty school, and I learn lots of skills about how to communication and how to keep my own living way when parents did not stay with you. And my middle school caused me to get easy when I going to the subsequent life road. So I believed that school can cultivate a person be a good people very well and efficiently.Hence, school and parents both can teach children how to be a good person, and have a very good effect on them. Parents can teach their children and make them do some special things to train them, but school is a place to test them and make them master this skills in the society.3. Every people need to enter into the society when they graduate from the school, and it is the result that many parentswant to cultivate their children to come over this difficult(什么意思?

第三段it lists 3 causes leading to land degradation in such three regions而且本段写的有点混乱23%land degraded by the deforestation(9.8%)and over cultivation7.7% and over-gazing5.5% in Europe. The over-gazing rate makes up 13% and results to land degraded in Oceania.常用表达the rate/proportion of over-grazingThe over cultivation and over grazing leave 3.7%and1.5%result to land degraded in North America.

再来,你的开头,就有比较低级的错误,比如,UK,是the uk,或者你写the united kingdom,反正都要加THE。

The pie chart and table show how land around the world was degraded during the 1990s –the former on a worldwide scale and the latter in three different regions.Worldwide, over-grazing was the biggest cause of land degradation (35%), with deforestation causing 30% and over-cultivation causing slightly less (28%). Other factors caused 7% of land degradation. The table shows that, during the 1990s, 23% of the land in Europe was degraded, more than in Oceania (13%) and far more than in North America (5%). In Oceania, over-grazing was primarily responsible for land degradation, with deforestation accounting for far less and none caused through over-cultivation. In North America, over-cultivation was the main reason, with about a third of land degradation being caused by over-grazingand very little being caused by deforestation. In Europe, deforestation was responsible for about 40% of the land degradation, over-cultivation about 30% and over-grazing about 20%.To summarise, land degradation was due to three main factors and these factors differed in proportion in different regions.(168 words)饼形图和图表反映了 20 世纪 90 年代全世界土地的退化情况——前者是针对世界范围, 后者是针对三个不同的区域。

In my opinion, learning a second language is extremely beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, it broadens our horizons and allows us to connect with people fromdifferent cultures and backgrounds. For example, when I traveled to France last year, my ability to speak French helped me communicate with the locals and understand their way of life. This enriched my travel experience and allowed me to make meaningful connections with people I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.Secondly, learning a second language enhances our cognitive abilities. Research has shown that bilingual individuals have improved problem-solving skills, better memory retention, and increased multitasking abilities. For instance, a study conducted at the University of Edinburgh found that bilingual individuals were better at solving complex puzzles compared to monolingual individuals. Thisdemonstrates how learning a second language can positively impact our cognitive functioning.Furthermore, being bilingual opens up numerous career opportunities. In today's globalized world, many companies are expanding their operations internationally and are in need of employees who can communicate with clients and colleagues from different countries. For instance, a friend of mine who is fluent in both English and Mandarin was able to secure a job at a multinational company that operates in China. His language skills not only helped him communicate effectively with his Chinese colleagues but also gave him an advantage over other candidates during the hiring process.

In the heart of the bustling city, where the skyscrapers loomed like giants and the streets buzzed with the symphonyof honks and chatter, there was a place where the air wasthick with anticipation and the scent of freshly sharpened pencils. It was the day of the dreaded "T-Eight" English exam, a test so infamous that it had its own urban legends. The students, a motley crew of the nervous, the overconfident, and the downright terrified, filed into the exam hall. Each one clutched their number two pencils like lifelines, their faces a mix of determination and doom.At the front of the room, the proctor, a stern woman with a voice that could cut through concrete, surveyed the roomwith an eagle eye. "No talking," she barked, her gazesweeping the room like a searchlight. "You have two hours to complete the exam. Good luck."And with that, the room erupted into a cacophony ofpencil scratches and the occasional whispered prayer. Theexam began with a barrage of vocabulary questions, each one more obscure than the last. "What's the antonym of'serendipity'?" one student muttered, his brow furrowed in concentration. The reading comprehension section was a rollercoaster of emotions. There were tales of lost love, triumphant journeys, and the occasional existential crisis. The students read with the intensity of detectives, searching for clues and hidden meanings. But it was the essay portion that truly tested their mettle. The prompt was a doozy: "Discuss the impact of social media on modern communication." The room fell silent as the students pondered the weight of their words. Some typed furiously, their fingers a blur on the keyboards. Others sat, pens poised, deep in thought. In the corner, a student named Tim was having a meltdown of epic proportions. "How am I supposed to write about social media when I can't even get a signal?" he lamented, his phone clutched in his hand like a lifeline. As the clock ticked down, the room filled with a sense of urgency. The students, once a sea of calm, were now a whirlwind of activity. Papers rustled, pencils flew, and the occasional "I've got this!" echoed through the hall. Finally, the proctor's voice cut through the chaos like a knife. "Pencils down." And just like that, the T-Eight English exam was over. The students, exhausted but relieved, filed out of the room, their minds already turning to the next challenge. As they left, the proctor couldn't help but smile. "Another year, another batch of T-Eight warriors," she mused, her eyes twinkling with a hint of pride. "May the best essay win."。

8 TEST1Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.Nowadays, there is a debate who should be the moral teacher to the children. Some people consider that it is the parents’ duty to teach them. While, others hold the different view that school should burden the responsibility to let the children learn how to be good members of society. From my perspective, I suppose both have a deep impact on children. On the part of the parents, it is from their father and mother that children get a general idea of society at the beginning stage of their life. As is known to us, first impression is of great importance. Thus, parents should bear in mind that they might impart something helpful and beneficial on the children in their early childhood, which helps to shape their correct value of society and life. What’s more, parents, themselves may be the most influential role model in children’s eye so that parents should pay more attention to their own behavior and words. Therefore, parents shall educate children to be good members through the information they conveyed as well as their own behaviors. On the other hand, some are in favor of the opinion that school should provide a platform for children in terms of their morality. First, teacher refers to an authority in children’s view. Therefore, children are willing to obeywhat teacher told to them. Regarding to this, we may be sure that the teachers in the school shall be play a wholesome role in children’s growth. Furthermore, school is the place children make communication with others. Through the interaction, children may learn the merits from their peers as well as avoid the demerits, which is more persuasive. To conclude, I believe that combining the parents and the school may be the most effective way to help children shape their good personality and contribute a lot to the society.。

The chart illustrates the main causes to the land degradation all over the world while the table describes how these reasons affected three regions - North America, Europe, and Oceania respectively during the 1990s.
According to the chart, causes of worldwide land degradation mainly consist of four points, which are over-grazing, deforestation and over cultivation. More specifically, over-grazing is the main cause to worldwide land degradation, which represents up to 35% of the disturbing issue. In addition to over-grazing, deforestation and over-cultivation are two other factors that lead to world wide degradation, which account for 30% and 20% of the land degraded respectively. Besides, there are other reasons resulting in land degradation (7%).
As can be seen in the second table, while Europe and Oceania are plagued by land degradation with as much as 23% and 13% of their lands deteriorating, the impact of this on North America is minimal, only 5% of its land facing the problem of degradation. To be more exact, the land degraded is North America is due to deforestation (0.2%), over-cultivating (3.3%) and over-grazing (1.5%). In comparison, deforestation makes up 9.8% of the land degraded in Europe while the impact of over-cultivation and over-grazing is comparatively less significant. As for Oceania, the land degraded is attributed to deforestation and over-grazing, which account for 1.7 % and 11.3% of the total amount.
In conclusion, a variety of reasons give rise to the problem of land degradation, including over-grazing, deforestation, over-cultivation etc and these causes have different effects on different regions.
Nowadays, whether parents or school should teach youngsters to be qualified members of society has cause a quite stir in China. While some individuals believe that parents should be responsible for this, others argue that school rather than parents should assume the responsibility.
Some people insist that parents should teach children how to behave. To begin with, it is ultimately parents who are responsible for their children’s behaviour though school also play a part. In fact, parent’s behaviour would affect children whenever they are together. Then, parents live with their children, which indicate that parents know their children far better than teachers do. Therefore, parents are more likely to give more practical advice to their children’s behaviour when they act in an incorrect way.
While it is true that parents play a crucial role in their children, some individual still firmly believe that school is where children should learn how to be good members of the society. As they see it, as a matter of fact, the majority of students would spend much of their time in schools rather than at home, which create a vast number of chances for teachers to observe and guide the students. In addition, schools, instead of only caring about student s’ academic scores, are also required to pay more attention to students’behaviour and manner, leading the students to develop comprehensively.
Based on the analysis above, it is manifest that both parents and schools can contribute to the healthy development of the younger generation. Personally, I think that it would be wonderfully if both parents and schools pay more attention to the young people and exert a positive influence.

The three pie art illustrate changes in the total spending by a school in the UK in 1981, 1991 and 2001 respectively.
