ADVANTAGES OF NGG COMPARED WITH IGG
More and more product tankers and chemical tankers equipped with electric or hydraulic driven cargo pumps recently due to the market requirements, which can not take use of aux.
boiler exhaust for cargo tanks inerting, and have to be equipped with Inert Gas Generator (IGG) or Nitrogen Gas Generator (NGG).

IGG generates inert gas by burning fuel oil (MDO or MGO) to “consume” oxygen in air, and then supply to cargo tanks after scrubbing by sea water.
