This month I have read a English novel called Wuthering Heights.It was published in 1847 and written by Emily Bronte.At first the book was not well received by the reading public.Many of people in that times condemned it as a big failure.It was not until half of the century pass that many of the critics changed their ideas and thought it was a great work.And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back.Today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels.

I am so grateful for the woman writer's greatness that I can have a chance to read this wonderful novel. The main characters in the novel especially Heathcliff and Catherine gave me a deep impression. They grow up together in good relationship and gradually the feeling become sincere love.But Catherine betrays Heathcliff She instead marries another man called Edgar Linton.Catherine's betrayal is the most important turning point in this novel. It makes Heathcliff's heart full of bitterness and revenge.And after three years he does the crazy revenge.At last although he succeed in revenge it's no wonder regarded as a tragedy .Catherine dies at a very beautiful age.Heathcliff commits suicide to go after Catherine's pace.While to our delight ,Cathy and Hareton are getting to know each other,their relationship has a good chance of succeeding..

I own a complicated feeling to Catherine and Heathcliff. On one hand I was moved by the crazy love between them and felt sympathy for their fate.They should have lived happily together.On the other hand ,I hate the two main characters.How could Catherine leave her good companion and get marry to a man she doesn't love?How could Heathcliff hurt innocent people like:Isabella Linton, Cathy Linton?May it's the fault of that society
