5. When you have read some Chinese poems, you will have seen and heard some of the features that all good poetry shares.
将来完成时是表示在将来某一时刻将完成或在另一个未来的动作发生之前已经完成的动作。
注意:
(1)常与将来完成时连用的时间状语有:by + 表示将来时间如:by the end of this year, by 8 o’clock this evening, by march next year.以及由by the time; before ; when引导的时间状语从句。

8. Why read, and sometimes even write poetry?
(1) Why+不带to的不定式用来表示某动作没有必要或意义;肯定形式有时还含有责备的意味.
Why argue with him? He’ll never change his mind.

Why come so late? 为什么这么晚才来?
(2)why (not) do sth. 否定形式则常用来表示建议。
why not do... = why don't you do...
It looks like rain. Why not take a raincoat?

Since you have to stay at home, why don’t you do some reading?
既然你必须呆在家里,为什么不读点书呢?
另外,Why not? 也可以单独使用,表示“为什么不行?”“好啊”“请别客气”

(1)引导让步状语从句(从句还可以采用省略形式)
He did it whether by accident or design.

(2)引导名词性从句

(1`)either...or...意为"或者……或者……;不是……就是……"之意。
表示两者之一,连接句子中两个并列的成分。
either...or...连接两个主语时,其谓语动词应与最近的一个主语在人称和数上保持
When the girl is happy, she either sings or dances.
那个女孩高兴时,不是唱就是跳。
Either you or I am going there tomorrow.
明天要么你去那里,要么我去那里。
注意:如果把上句变成一般疑问句,助动词形式与主语you保持一致,所以要用are提问,而不是am。
Are either you or I going there tomorrow? 明天是你还是我去那里?
Either you or he has lunch at school. 其一般疑问句应为:Do either you or he have lunch at school?
是你还是他在学校吃午饭?
(2)neither...nor...表示"既不……也不……"。
其含义是否定的,可连接任意两个并列的成份。
当neither...nor...连接两个主语时,也应遵循"就近原则"。
She likes neither butter nor cheese.
她既不喜欢黄油也不喜欢乳酪。
Neither dad nor mum is at home today.

易混易错点1:过去分词作状语
一、过去分词作状语时的功能及位置
1. 过去分词作状语,修饰谓语动词,进一步说明谓语动词的动作和状态,即动作发生时的背景或状况,其逻辑主语通常就是句子的主语,且主语是过去分词动作的承受者,即过去分词表示的动作不是句子的主语发出的;过去分词与主语之间是动宾关系,即被动关系。
Although built thirty years ago, the house looks very beautiful.
尽管这座房子是30年前被建造的,它看起来依然很漂亮。
2. 过去分词短语作条件、原因及时间状语时,通常放在句首;作伴随、结果状语时,通常放在句末;作方式状语时,一般放在句末,有时也放在句首;作让步状语时,一般放在句首,有时也放在句末。
Given more time, he can do it better. 如果他被给予更多的时间,他就能把它做得更好。
二、与状语从句的转换
1. 过去分词短语作时间状语,可转换为when, while或after等引导的状语从句。
Seen from the top of the hill, the park looks more beautiful. →When it is seen from the top of the hill, the park looks more beautiful.
从山上往下看,这座公园看起来更加漂亮。
2. 作条件状语,可转换为if, once或unless等引导的状语从句。
United we will stand; divided we will fall. →If we are united we will stand; if we are divided we will fall.
团结就是胜利;分裂必然失败。
3. 作原因状语,可转换为as, since或because等引导的状语从句。
Encouraged by the progress he has made, he works harder. →As he is encouraged by the progress he has made, he works harder.
由于受到所取得成绩的鼓舞,他工作更努力了。
4. 作让步状语,可转换为although, though或even if等引导的状语从句。
Although exhausted by the climb, we continued our journey. →Although we were exhausted by the climb, we continued our journey.
我们虽然爬得很累,但我们仍然继续我们的旅程。
5. 作方式状语,如有连词as if,就转换为as if引导的方式状语从句;若无连词,则转换为并列结构。
He began to cry as if bitten by a snake. →He began to cry as if he was bitten by a snake.
他大叫起来,好像被蛇咬了。
6. 作伴随状语,一般转换为并列结构。
Aunt Wu came in, followed by her daughter. →Aunt Wu came in, and (she) was followed by her daughter. 吴大娘走进来,(她)后面跟着她的女儿。
