”To be happy deep inside your heart is the most wonderful thing in the world!
Long live love!

Once upon a time, in a land filled with lush forests and sparkling rivers, there lived a king who was known for his wisdom and kindness. This king, named King Eldar, ruled over his people with a heart full of compassion and a mind filled with strategic brilliance. His kingdom was prosperous, and the people were content, but there was one thing that made the kings heart heavy: he had no heir to the throne. As the years passed, King Eldar grew increasingly concerned about the future of his kingdom. He knew that without a successor, the stability and peace that his people enjoyed could be jeopardized. So, he decided to embark on a journey to find a worthy successor, someone who would carry on his legacy and continue to lead the kingdom with wisdom and kindness. The kings journey took him through many lands, where he encountered various individuals with different talents and virtues. He met a brave knight who had saved a village from a ferocious dragon, a wise scholar who had dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge, and a kindhearted farmer who shared his harvest with the less fortunate. Each of these individuals had qualities that King Eldar admired, but none seemed to possess the perfect combination of attributes needed to rule a kingdom. One day, as King Eldar was traveling through a dense forest, he stumbled upon a small village that was suffering from a severe drought. The villagers were desperate, and their crops were withering away. The king, moved by their plight, decided to help them. He used his knowledge of the land and the weather to devise a plan to divert water from a nearby river to irrigate the fields. As the king worked alongside the villagers, he noticed a young boy named Liam, who was tirelessly helping his fellow villagers. Liam was not the strongest or the most skilled, but he had a heart full of compassion and a determination that was unmatched. He worked from dawn till dusk, never complaining or seeking recognition for his efforts.King Eldar was impressed by Liams selflessness and dedication. He spent time talking to the boy, learning about his dreams and aspirations. Liam spoke of his desire to help his people and make the world a better place. The king saw in Liam the qualities that he had been searching for in a successor: kindness, wisdom, and a deep love for his people. As the weeks passed, the king and Liam grew close, and the village began to thrive once again. The fields were lush and green, and the villagers were filled with hope and gratitude. King Eldar knew that he had found the one he had been seeking. He asked Liam if he would be willing to become his apprentice and learn the ways of a king.Liam, who had never dreamed of such an honor, was both excited and nervous. He accepted the kings offer and began his journey to become a ruler. Under King Eldars guidance, Liam learned about the complexities of governance, the importance of diplomacy, and the value of making difficult decisions for the greater good.Years went by, and Liam grew into a wise and compassionate leader. When the time came for King Eldar to step down, he knew that his kingdom wasin good hands. Liam ascended to the throne, and he ruled with the same kindness and wisdom that had endeared him to the people. The kingdom continued to prosper under Liams rule, and the people lived in peace and harmony. The story of King Eldar and his successor became a legend, passed down through generations, inspiring future leaders to rule with a heart full of compassion and a mind full of wisdom. And so, the legacy of King Eldar lived on, not just in the prosperity of his kingdom, but in the hearts of those who believed in the power of kindness and the importance of selflessness. The tale of the king and his successor served as a reminder that true leadership comes not from power or wealth, but from the ability to empathize, to understand, and to care for the wellbeing of others.。

This is what he said:
Tonight, for the first time,I can say a few words to you.Earlier today I gave the crown to my brother George. He is now your King.I will soon leave this country and travel to France. My heart is with Wallis and I cannot live without the woman I love.'
Then he turned and walked onto the ship and into the night.

Mr Churchill came over and put his hand on the King's arm.Edward looked up.'Thank you,Winston,'he said.'You were a good friend to me.'

It's the most anticipated royal wedding of our time. You both look incredibly happy and relaxed. Relax on the dock very calm on the surface,从容只是表面的but little feak under water.其实还是有一点紧张Tomorrow a future king明天未来的国王即将will welcome a future Queen to his family. Tonight, we look back at今晚我们将回顾the love story that captivated the world. The biggest royal marriage since William's parents tied the knot. Called the ultimate reality show, the royal wedding这被称为终极真人秀的皇室婚礼is expected to command the biggest audience in TV history. And we hear from the people我们来听听伴随他们一路走来的人们who shared their journey. She has this great sense of humour她是一个极富幽默感的人and I think Will and Kate both share that. He is very easy to get on with, despite all the pressures,即使是在大婚当前压力这么大particularly at the moment with planning for the wedding. I remember quite early on, people commenting,我清楚记得之前人们评论道"Imagine if they ended up getting married如果他们真能有情人终成眷属"and we've been here when they met."那我们就是他们初次邂逅的见证者He'll marry me.他会迎娶我的This is romantic.太浪漫了These two people who love each other两人互相爱慕and want to spend the rest of their lives together.愿意彼此携手度过余生And I think we will be happy for them.我想大家都会为此感到欣慰Westminster Abbey,西敏寺大教堂home to the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066 1066年征服者威廉的加冕之地and the burial place of Chaucer, Dickens and Tennyson.以及乔叟狄更斯丁尼生的长眠之所In just a few days, it will be under the world's spotlight again 几天之后它又将成为世界瞩目的焦点as Prince William of Wales因为威尔士王子威廉marries Catherine Middleton.将在此迎娶凯瑟琳·米德尔顿Theirs is a simple love story,他们的爱情故事很简单a modern-day romance with a fairytale ending.是一部童话般结尾的现世罗曼史As the House of Windsor prepares to welcome a future Queen, 温莎王室正准备迎接他们未来的王后we look back at where their story began.我们一起来回顾他们的故事开始的地方21st June, 1982.1982年6月21日Seven days after the end of the Falklands Conflict,马岛战争结束后的第七天Britain was celebrating,英国举国欢庆as in St Mary's Hospital, Paddington,因为在帕丁顿的圣玛丽医院a future king was born.未来的君主诞生了Just a day old and the royal baby只有一天大这个皇室婴儿is-tonight sleeping in his cot at home.今晚就睡着家里的小床上The Prince's first public appearance- lasted less than a minute. 王子的首次亮相持续了不到一分钟What did you think of him?你觉得他怎么样He's wonderful, absolutely fabulous.他真棒太可爱了Oh, I cried. I couldn't help it.我哭了我情不自禁了We have still no word on the baby's name.我们还不知道婴儿的名字The first time I photographed Prince William我第一次为威廉王子拍照的时候was when he was less than 24 hours old.他出生还不到24小时He never do what you want them to do.他一点都不听话Prince William said his first words in public.威廉王子第一次在公共场合说话Dat, dat, dat!相机相机相机Camera.摄像机Today was Prince William's first day at his new school.今天是威廉王子上学的第一天It meant putting on a new uniform and facing all those cameras, 他穿戴好新校服并面对很多镜头but the new boy wasn't bothered by any of it.却并没有表现出任何尴尬This was no ordinary life. Even fun days out were scrutinised 这不是普通人的生活即便是享受休闲生活under the glare of the media spotlight.也要受到媒体闪光灯的角逐For William, destiny and duty went hand in hand.对于威廉来说命运和责任一同而至With his mother by his side,在母亲的陪同下he embarked on his first official engagement他在八岁那年开始履行at the tender age of eight.第一份正式承诺Despite the pressures of royal life, Diana always strived尽管皇室生活压力巨大戴安娜始终力求to bring a touch of normality to her children's lives.让她的孩子们享受正常的童年生活But in 1997, the unthinkable happened但在1997年意想不到的悲剧发生了as William and his family mourned the death of Princess Diana. 彼时威廉和家人前往吊唁戴安娜I know Kate and her family because我认识凯特一家是因为they've been coming in here over the last ten years or so他们搬到这里已经十多年了for a drink with their friends, for a meal.大家时常会和朋友一起喝酒聚餐I have been here for about 15 years, so而我在这里也已经差不多15年了所以I've got to know them quite well.我跟他们很熟50 miles from London lies the sleepy,伦敦50英里外坐落着一个叫巴克勒贝利的rural village of Bucklebury,安静祥和的小村子home to the Middletons,米德尔顿一家William's future in-laws.即威廉未来的岳父母家就在这里The Middletons were like any other family,米德尔顿一家和其他家庭一样everybody knows everybody.大家都彼此熟知In 1982, they had their first child, Kate -1982年他们有了第一个孩子凯特an ordinary girl destined for greater things.一位普通的女孩却注定了不凡的人生He will fall in love with me.他会爱上我的He will marry me.他会迎娶我的In London.就在伦敦I taught Kate the piano from the age of 11-13.我从凯特十一二三岁时开始教她弹钢琴This is the actual piano she learned on.这就是她当年弹的那架I don't think anybody我想大家肯定不会认为thought she was going to be a concert pianist,她以后能成为钢琴家but she was always bubbly,但她总是面带笑容always bright and she came for lessons阳光灿烂地来上课and she was always a happy person when she was being taught.教她的时候她也总是无忧无虑的Kate has always been a very, very friendly person.凯特是个非常非常友善的人And ever since we've known her,从我们认识她开始there has been a radiance about her, an aura.就觉得她身上有种光辉和气场It sets her aside from other people.让她与众不同出类拔萃People don't talk about a future queen or future princess, they talk about Kate, 人们谈论的不是未来的王后或者王妃而是凯特of course she's getting married to William and that's great news.而她即将与王子结婚真是个天大的好消息I think everybody is excited about the fact that somebody我觉得大家都会十分高兴from our village is going to be a Princess,因为我们村子的女孩要成为王妃了and one day, Queen.或许某天成为王后But then, perhaps things were always meant to be.而那时一切好像都是命中注定I wish to marry you, only say, "Yes", to me.愿意嫁给我吗只要对我说你愿意Yes. Oh, yes, dear William.亲爱的威廉我愿意So how did this girl from the Home Counties那么这位来自伦敦之外的普通女孩find herself on the cusp of royalty?是怎样一步步走入皇室的呢Well, it almost started thousands of miles away in South America. 故事开始于几千英里外的南美In 2000, William decided to take a gap year and work in Chile 2000年威廉决定利用休假年with charity organisation, Raleigh International.跟随罗利国际这家慈善机构前往智利I set out to Chile in September 2000我2000年9月来到智利and underwent all the staff preparations,做好了一切的准备工作we got ready for the venturers to arrive.我们准备好迎接冒险者的到来Then it was announced that然后有人就说Prince William was joining the expedition.威廉王子要参加这次探险When I first heard that第一次听说William was- coming on an expedition to Chile,威廉王子要来智利参加探险的时候I felt quite a lot of fear, to be honest with you.说真的我感到了一丝担心Did he actually really他真的会喜欢appreciate what he was letting himself in for?自己正在干的工作吗But when I met William,但当我见到威廉的时候all my fears were completely laid to rest.我所有的疑虑都一扫而空He was up for it and ready for the challenge.他已经对挑战做好了十足的准备I take it these are my trousers?这些是我的裤子吗Ollie? Ollie,欧利欧利have you left your trousers here or are these mine?丢这的是你的裤子还是我的William wanted to experience real expedition life,威廉想要体验真正的探险生活so the press were kept under tight control.所以媒体都被屏蔽It was felt that it probably wasn't suitable考虑到我有记者背景for someone with a journalistic background与威廉王子一起参加探险to be on the same expedition as Prince William,可能不太合适so I actually came back to the UK.所以我回到了英国Ironically, they sent me out on the next expedition巧合的是他们安排我参加的下一次探险where Catherine Middleton was a member of the expedition. 却是和凯瑟琳·米德尔顿一起的Kate had missed her prince by just a few weeks.凯特因为几周之差与他的王子失之交臂Kate began six weeks威廉离开智利六周后after William had left Chile,凯特开始她的探险which is pretty remarkable,很巧合considering they had never met before他们之前互不相识and they both decided to go to the same country而却选择了同一个国家on a similar type expedition.开始相似的探险之旅There was a buzz as the fact事情总是那么奇妙that he had just been there他们不约而同去了那里and they were following in his footsteps她紧随王子的脚步而至and staying in the same accommodation住在同一间宿舍and cleaning the same toilets,打扫同一个厕所but I think of most of them got down但我想他们都完成了to the day-to-day business of being on an expedition.探险生活中那些日常事务It's strange to think that someone you'd spent time with有时候想起来真的很奇怪in a bizarre situation in the south of Patagonia一个和你在南巴塔哥尼亚同甘共苦的人could one day be the Queen.会成为日后的王后Later that year, William and Kate did meet那年的晚些时候威廉和凯特on the coastline of Scotland at the University of St Andrews. 在位于海边的苏格兰圣安德鲁斯大学相识了We were friends for over a year first,我们先是做了一年的朋友and it just sort of blossomed from then on.那以后便开始恋爱了We spent more time with each other and had a good giggle, 我们彼此接触更多相处融洽had lots of fun得到很多快乐and realised we shared the same interests然后意识到我们有着共同的爱好and just had a really good time.那段时光真的很美好She's got a really naughty sense of humour,她是个很幽默搞笑的人which helps me -I've got a very dry sense of humour.正好弥补了我我不是太幽默So, we just got fun. We had a really good laugh我们一起非常开心and then things happened.爱情就这样诞生了In a break from tradition,威廉一改传统William chose this ancient Scottish university,选择了这所古老的苏格兰大学surprising everyone,所有人为之震惊not least of all the new vice-chancellor.连新任的副校长都不例外I signed the contract, "Yes, I'll start in January."我签署了合同好我一月就上任The people who I'd been speaking to at St Andrews said,和我联络的圣安德鲁斯的人告诉我说"Um, Brain, there's something else you ought to know."布莱恩有些事我想应该告诉你I said, "Yes?"我说是什么呢"William is coming."威廉要来了"William?"什么威廉"Prince William."威廉王子I said, "Ah."我说啊The Prince's arrival didn't go unnoticed,王子的到来并未保密but the media had agreed to an unprecedented amount of privacy 但媒体却史无前例地同意保证王子的隐私to allow him to further his education.以便王子可以安心地读书We've had pictures of William with girls and Harry with girls我们拍到威廉和哈里与女孩子们的合影put on our desks and the editor said,交上去后编辑说"Take them away, I'm not doing it."丢了吧我不会登这些的We gave our word we will not intrude我们有言在先while they are educated and he's keeping it.我们不会在他们读书的时候介入他们的生活We were determined that we were going to give William我们决定给威廉王子a normal student life一个学生该有的正常生活and to give him a preparation for a life让他可以面对之后that is unimaginable for the rest us.常人难以想象的生活But having a prince arrive on campus但王子来到校园isn't something that happens every day.可不是寻常之事On Monday morning,星期一早上came down to breakfast and there was a sense of,吃早饭的时候还是相当轰动"Oh, who is he going to sit next to,他会和谁坐呢who's he going to talk to?"他会和谁说话呢Then he walks in by himself with his tray.然后他就自己带着托盘进来了That is classic.好球I think everyone was very conscious当他走进来时of trying not to suddenly go silent我想大家都有意识地as he walked into the room.不要一下子安静下来Fellow-student Jules Knight from classical boy band Blake 男子古典乐队布莱克的朱尔斯·奈特是他同学met William and Kate at university.在大学里结识了威廉和凯特Will and Kate were in St Salvator's Hall,当时威廉和凯特在圣萨维尔特学生宿舍which was one of the best halls这是最好的宿舍之一to be in because it was in the centre of town.又处在市中心It wasn't what you'd call plush or five-star accommodation, 那里并不奢华也没有什么高级配备it was reasonably comfortable.但还算相对舒适His father, when he visited before William arrived,在威廉入住前他的父亲曾经到访tested the bed by bouncing up and down on it还跳上♥床♥试了试舒适度and seemed to be satisfied.然后似乎很满意I ended up in the room next door to Kate我在圣安德鲁斯读书的第一年when I was in first year at St Andrews.住在凯特的隔壁The first thing that struck me when I met her我见到她的第一印象是was just how stunningly attractive she was.她身上散发着惊人的魅力The hair was always perfect, just like it is now.她总能保持完美的发型正如现在一样She was really noticeably beautiful她拥有出众的美貌and she was nicknamed Beautiful Kate as well in hall.被宿舍的同学们誉为"美人凯特"Whilst both studying art history,两人都学习艺术史it didn't take William long to notice Beautiful Kate.威廉很快便注意到了美人凯特When I first met Kate,我第一次见到凯特时I knew there was something very special about her就知道她与众不同and I knew there was possibly something知道自己也许想要that I wanted to explore there.进一步了解她But we ended up being friends for a while我们当时做了一段时间的朋友and that was a good foundation.为今后的关系打下了良好基础They were within a group of friends他们的那个朋友圈of about seven or eight people.大约有七八个人Kate wasn't famous then.凯特那时还不出名Will was famous and Kate was one of us.威廉当然很出名但凯特只是个普通人I actually went bright red when I met you我见到你时会脸红and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy about meeting you. 一想到要与你见面就会害羞退缩But, um, it did take a bit of time for us但我们用一段时间to get to know each other.来增进彼此的了解In 2002, a charity fashion show was rumoured to据说2002年的一场慈善时装秀spark a change in William and Kate's friendship.使威廉和凯特的友谊有了进一步发展I would have never guessed我从未想到that the girl I photographed on the catwalk我拍摄的那个T台上的女孩有朝一日would later be a princess.会成为王妃So they say, that he watched her in the fashion show,据他们说他观看了她的时装表演when she wore this amazing see-through dress,当她穿着迷人的透视裙装出场时and he was smitten.他被迷得神魂颠倒Kate looked fantastic.凯特看上去美极了She looked a million dollars她简直美若天仙and I think people did think, "Wow!"人们肯定会感到惊讶Because Kate is quite a shy girl, really,因为凯特其实是个害羞的女孩but I think that was a moment但我认为在那一刻of showing her self-confidence.她绽放出了自信的光芒And you know, she's got the body and the looks for it,她身材窈窕容貌姣好so why not?何乐而不为呢I did get a phone call from one magazine asking我接到过一家杂♥志♥打来的电♥话♥ if they could reproduce my iconic image of Kate Middleton问我能否重新处理凯特·米德尔顿的人像作品and I had never heard anybody call it that before.那是第一次有人如此称呼我的作品You know, what...怎么...I was totally overwhelmed,我简直受宠若惊I never expected没想到此生that I'd get a photograph like that in my lifetime.能有幸拍摄出那样的作品But, you know, I think it's easy to look back如今回想起那个"辉煌时刻"and think, "That moment."一切还历历在目I mean, obviously at the time,但对于当年的我们it wasn't really "That moment" to us,那并不是什么"辉煌时刻"it was just like one of your friends up there and obviously那只是朋友的一次演出而已Kate has become the most famous woman in the world而如今凯特成为了全球最知名的女性and so extra significance has been put on this moment.那个时刻也随之变得更加重要了When he was here, he was always in the area他入学之后经常出没于这一地区and you could be walking in the supermarket with your trolley 当你推着手推车在超♥市♥购物时and he'd be walking down the next aisle with his.可能会在旁边的通道遇到他So, in a way,可以说the locals all got used to seeing him in the area.当地人已习惯于在附近见到他It's only now we realise直到现在我们才意识到that was our future king that was down here当时来餐厅买♥♥炸鱼薯条的and in for fish and chips as well.是我们未来的国王He did get a bit more freedom than与其它大学相比perhaps he would have got at another university这里的确为他提供了更多自♥由♥because the media did leave him alone, they did back off.因为媒体没有对他进行骚扰和跟踪So he did have a certain amount of freedom to walk around. 他其实有四处走动的自♥由♥He was left to get on with his In the next few hours,in that small room in Geneva, the jew-ellery was sold for$50000000.But who was Wallis? And who was Edward? And why was their love story so special?Let's begin at the beginning…1 A Lonely Child'..Prince Edward was born in 1894.His father,King George V,was a tall, cold man who did not like chil-dren.'Why does Edward talk all the time?'he once said.'He's a very noisy child!'His mother,Queen Mary, agreed.'It doesn't matter if Edward is happy or unhappy,' she said.'A child must be silent and strong.' The family lived in Buckingham Palace, which had 600 rooms. There were 8 kitchens,19 bathrooms,24 toilets,11 dining rooms,17 bedrooms and 21 sitting rooms.Edward once told a story about the house :Buckingham Palace was very big,and people sometimes got lost. One night my mother,my father and I were sitting in the dining room.We were waiting for our dinner. We wait-ed and waited, but the food did not come. After twenty minutes my father was very angry. He stood up and went to the kitchen.'Where is the cook?'he shouted, and where is my food?' 'But,Sir,' the cook replied,'your dinner left the kitchen fifteen minutes ago.Hasn't it arrived yet?''No,it hasn't,'my father shouted,'and I'm hungry.'The King left the kitchen and began to look for the food.Ten minutes later he saw a woman who was carrying three plates of meat andpotatoes.'What happened to you?'my father said.'Why didn't you bring us our dinner?''..'I' m sorry,Sir,'the woman replied.'There are a lot of dining rooms.I couldn't remember where to go.But if you return to the table,Sir,this time I can follow you to the right room.'Edward did not go to school with other children. He stayed in Buckingham Palace where he had a special classroom just for him. This is how Edward described his lessons:My teacher,Mr Hansell, was a thin man.He never smiled and his nose was very red.We had lots of books but they were all very boring. They were full of words and they didn't have any pictures.Sometimes I stopped reading and looked out dow.Mr Hansell got very angry. He took a stick and hit me on the arm.'Don't look out of the window, little boy,' he shouted.'Look at the book.'He hit me many times and my arm was red.Every Friday the teacher took me to my father's room.'And what has my son learnt this week,Mr Hansell?'the King asked. And the answer was always:'Not very much I'm afraid,Sir.Edward doesn't like his lessons. He never lis-tens to what I say.''..When Mr Hansell left the room,my father was angry withme.'What's wrong with you, child?'he said.'Are you stupid? Why can't you learn anything?''But the lessons are so boring,Sir,'I replied.'And Mr Hansell hits me.''I don't understand you,Edward. You're a baby. You're so weak. You'll never be a good King.A King must be strong.Go to your room and stay there until the morning.''I spent many days alone in my room,'Edward wrote later.'I never played with other children and I didn't have any friends.I lived in the most beautiful house in England but I was always lonely and sad.I saw my mother once a day at din-ner time and I saw my father three or four times a week, but they never gave me any love.I was afraid of them and every-thing I did was wrong.'2 The Prince of Wales'..In the spring of 1911 King George called Edward into his room and said:'Next month I'll make you Prince of Wales and these are yourclothes for the ceremony.'The King opened a small cupboard and Edward started to cry.'But father,'he said,'I'm sixteen years old now.I can't wear soft shoes and a skirt.I'll look like a girl. Why can't I dress like other people?' 'Because you're different and special,'his father replied,'and one day you'll be King.'Edward cried for the next two days, but there was noth-ing he could do.And so,on 10th June 1911,the family drove to Caernar-von Castle in North Wales and the ceremony began. The King put a small gold crown on Edward's head. There was music and dancing and the crowd began to shout. The new Prince of Wales closed his eyes.'I feel terrible,' he said.'Can we go home now?''Not yet,' the King replied.'The people want to see you.Edward walked to the front of the castle and looked down at the crowd. He was shaking and his face was red.'..'Smile,Edward,'the King said.'You are happy!'A few hours later the family were driving back to Windsor.'Wasn't that a lovely day!'Queen Mary said.Edward took off his shoes and looked out of the window.'Never again,'he thought.'Never again!'3 The Royal StarAfter a year at Oxford University,Edward went to fight in the First World War.He wrote:I lived in a house with twenty-five other soldiers. At night we talked about our lives and our families. It was very inter-esting.I could speak freely to different people-rich and poor, young and old.But I also saw the blood and noise of war.One day in 1916 my driver took me to the town of Loos in Belgium.I got out of the car and walked to the top of the hill.Down below me there was heavy fighting and I felt very sad.'..An hour later I returned to my car.I'll never forget what I saw.My driver was dead. While I was away,some-body shot him in the neck. When the war finished in 1918,Edward returned to Bucking-ham Palace. One night he was talking to his father in the din-ing room.'I don't understand why countries fight,'the Prince said.'The war has finished, but nothing has changed. There are still millions of poor and hungry people. It's not right.Somebody must do something!' 'Well,'King George replied,'you can't change the world if you sit by the fire. You must travel.Meet people.Talk to them.Listen to what they say.And then, when you are King, you can make the world a better place.'And so,in 1920,Edward left England again.During the next five years he travelled 240 000 kilometres and visited 45 different countries. He saw India,Argentina,Nigeria,Mexico,New Zealand,Germany, and Japan. When he came to Toronto,in Canada, there were 500 000 people in the streets to meet him.Everywhere thousands ofpeople waited to see him—there were crowds of 190 000 in Cape Town,300 000 in Paris,500 000 in New York, and 750 000 in Melbourne.'Edward is the first royal star,'one newspaper wrote,'and he is now the most famous man in the world. In the old days princes were cold and'..bored.But Edward is different. He gets out of his car and walks down the street.Every two or three minutes he stops and speaks with the crowd. He laughs. He smiles. He shakes a thousand hands. He is a man of the people with a heart of gold.'4 The MeetingIn the autumn of 1930 Edward went to stay with his friends Lordand Lady Furness. This is how he described that weekend in a book called A King's Story:On Saturday the weather was cold and windy. It was raining heavily so we could not ride our horses. We decided to stay in the house andhave an early lunch with some of Lady Furness' friends. At one o'clock Wallis arrived with her husband. She was beautifully dressed and she smiled all the time. She spoke with Lord Furness for a few minutes, and then Lady Fur-ness brought her over to see me.'..'Sir,I would like you to meet one of my dearest and sweetest American friends,Mrs Wallis Simpson.''How do you do,Mrs Simpson,'I said.'Please come and sit down.' Lady Furness left us and we began to talk.I could see that Wallis was not felling very well. She had a bad cold and her eyes were red.'I'm afraid that our English houses aren't very warm,'I said.'We don't have American central heating here.' There was a long silence.Mrs Simpson turned her face and looked out of the window. Then she said:'You have disappointed me,Sir.' 'And why is that?'I asked.'Because everybody asks me about American central heat-ing.I thought that the Prince of Wales would talk about something more interesting.'I began to laugh.'What's the matter,Sir?'Wallis asked.'Have I said somethingwrong?''No,'I replied.'I'm laughing because you didn't lie to me.You told me the truth.''But why is that funny?Doesn't everybody do that?''One day I'll be King of England,' I replied.'And people are afraid '..of me.If I say that the sky is yellow, they say,“Yes,Sir,you are right”.If I say that Wednesday is the first day of the week, they say,“Yes,Sir,you are right”.And if I say that Scotland is bigger than Canada, they say,“Yes,Sir,you are right”.But you told me that I wasboring! You told me the truth.I like that!'There was another silence and then Wallis began to laugh.'Can I say one more thing,Sir?''Yes,Mrs Simpson, what is it?''It's your trousers,Sir.''My trousers?''Yes,Sir.They are black and your shoes are brown.'These two colours don't look right together.'I stood up and looked in the mirror.'Yes,Mrs Simp-son,you're right.I look very strange. The next time we meet,I will be betterdressed.'When lunch was ready,we walked through into the dining room.I sat at one end of the table and Wallis sat at the other end.I was watching her very carefully.I thought how beautiful her hands were. She began talking to Lady Furness and then,a few minutes later, she turned and smiled at me.I felt very happy. After lunch Wallis came over to say goodbye.'My hus-band and I '..have to leave now,Sir.We're going to another party in London.'I wanted to speak to her but I could not find the right words.I don't know why.We shook hands and Wallis walked away.I went into the next room and sat down near Lady Fur-ness.'Tell me about Mrs Simpson,'I said.'What would you like to know?'she asked.'Everything!' I said.'Then perhaps,Sir,you would like to walk in the gar-den.We can talk more freely there.'We stood up and left the house by the back door.We walked slowly through the trees, and Lady Furness told me about Wallis…5 WallisThis is how Lady Furness described Mrs Simpson's early life to Edward:Wallis was born in Baltimore. She never knew her father. He died when she was five months old.But her mother was a strong and loving'..woman,and Wallis was a happy child. When she was twenty, she married a man called Win-field Spencer. For the first few years they were happy togeth-er.But one day Winfield lost some money in the street. He was very angry. When he came home,he took a bottle of whisky from a cupbodrd and began to drink. That night he hit Wallis in the mouth. She screamed and he hit her again. There was blood on her face and she was shaking like a leaf.' Please,Winfield,'she said.'No more. But Winfield took her arm and pulled her up the stairs.'You're my prisoner,'he shouted at her,'and you're not going to leave.'Then he pushed her into the bathroom and locked the door. The next morning Wallis went back to her family.'I can't stay withhim,'she said.'I want a divorce.''Poor Wallis,'Edward said.'But what happened next,Lady Furness?''Well,'said Lady Furness,'a few months later she met a fine man called Ernest Simpson. He's quiet, but interesting. They got married and they now live in a beautiful flat in the centre of London.' 'And are they happy?'asked Edward.'..Lady Furness looked at the Prince and smiled.'I don't know,Sir,'she said.'I don' t know.'During the next two years the Prince saw Wallis once or twice a week. They had the same friends, and they often met at parties.'Mrs Simpson knew a lot about life,'Edward once said.'She loved books, food, people, and travel. She was very beautiful and her eyes were full of fire. She was friendly and easy to talk to and, after a while,I opened up my heart. We had no secrets.I told her everything. And that's how it all began.''His eyes were always sad,'Wallis said about Edward.'And sometimes he looked like a child—so young,so quiet,so weak.Hehad no real friends.Perhaps people were a little afraid of him.But he was a warm and kind man. When he talked to me,I felt my heart jump.I wanted to be alone with him,but I knew that wasn't possible.Did the Prince love me in those early days? No,I don't think so.But each time we met,we just felt closer and closer.' In June 1933 Edward gave a birthday party for Wallis, and duringthe next few months he visited the Simpson's flat in London almost every day.One evening, the Prince asked Wallis and Ernest to go skiing in'..Austria.'I'm sorry,Sir,'Mr Simpson replied.'I have to go to America on business. But perhaps Wallis and her aunt can come with you.' 'We went to Kitzbühl as friends,'Wallis wrote later,'but when we came home,we were in love. And a few months later the Prince asked me to marry him.It was just like a dream!'6 The King is Dead!Long Live the King!In January 1936 Edward went to Windsor for a few weeks. He wastired of town life and he wanted to work in his garden and ride his horses. But then, one afternoon, there was a phone call from Queen Mary.'Edward,'she said,'you must come back im-mediately.Your father is very ill and I think he's going to die.'When Edward arrived,he went straight to his father's room.He walked to the side of the bed and kissed his father's white face. The King opened his eyes and smiled. Then he took his son's hand and said:'Be a good King,Edward. And be good to your mother.' 'Yes,father,I will.''..The King closed his eyes and did not speak again.Just af-ter midnight he died. Then Queen Mary took Edward's hand and kissed it.'My child, you are now King,'she said softly.'God be with you.His three brothers came to him,one by one,and they each kissed his hand.'The King is dead.Long live the King,'they said.At one o'clock Edward left the room to telephone Wallis.“My father is dead,'he said.'I'm so sorry,Sir.''I must stay here for a while,'Edward went on.'But I'll phone you atthe weekend.Nothing will change between you and me.I love you more than ever, and you will be my Queen.''Let's not talk about that now,'Wallis replied.'You must go back to your family.''But you are my family,Wallis. You are everything to me.Goodnight.Sleep well.'When Wallis put the phone down that night, she sudden-ly felt afraid.'Edward is now King,'she thought,'but what will happen to me?''..6 国王逝世!国王万岁!1936年1月,爱德华去温莎小住几个星期。

一个国王的婚礼作文英语

一个国王的婚礼作文英语

一个国王的婚礼作文英语Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, there was a grand celebration that brought joy and excitement to the hearts of all who lived there. It was the wedding of the century, a union between the benevolent King Edward and the beautiful Princess Isabella, a couple whose love story was as enchanting as the kingdom itself. The castle was adorned with the finest silks and tapestries, the colors of the royal crest—crimson and gold—draped from every corner. The courtyard was transformed into a garden of splendor, with roses of every hue in full bloom, their fragrance wafting through the air, as sweet as the promise of love.As the sun rose on the day of the wedding, the townspeople began to gather, their faces painted with the royal colors, their hearts filled with pride and happiness for their beloved king. The streets were lined with musicians, their melodies as lively as the steps of the dancers who swayed to the rhythm, their laughter echoing through the cobblestone lanes. The ceremony took place in the grand hall of the castle, a room as old as the kingdom itself. The high ceilings were inlaid with intricate frescoes depicting the history of the royal family, and the walls were adorned with the banners of the noble houses that had pledged their loyalty to the crown.Princess Isabella entered the hall on the arm of her father, the Duke of Lancaster, her gown a vision of white silk and lace, her veil as delicate as the morning mist. The king, resplendent in his royal regalia, awaited her at the foot of the altar, his eyes shining with love and admiration for his bride. The vows were exchanged amidst the soft glow of a thousand candles, their voices clear and strong, a testament to the bond that would unite them. The guests, a gathering of the most distinguished lords and ladies from across the realm, watched in awe as the couple pledged their eternal love and fidelity to one another.Following the ceremony, a feast was held in the castle's great hall. Tables groaned under the weight of delicacies from every corner of the kingdom: succulent roasts, fresh fruits, and sweet pastries that melted on the tongue. Wine flowed like a river, and the air was filled with the clinking of goblets and the sound of merriment. As the night wore on, the celebration moved to the castle's terrace, where a dance was held under the stars. The king and queen led the first dance, their steps in perfect harmony, their smiles as bright as the constellations above. The guests followed, their laughter and joy a symphony of happiness that seemed to reach the heavens themselves. The wedding of King Edward and Princess Isabella was a day that would be remembered for generations to come. It was notjust a celebration of the union of two hearts, but also a testament to the love and unity of a kingdom. And as the people of the kingdom danced under the moonlight, they knew that their king and queen would rule with wisdom, compassion, and a love that would light the way for many years to come.。

Once upon a time, in a land of enchantment, there lived awise and just king named King Leonidas. His kingdom, nestled between the lush green hills and the crystal clear river, was known far and wide as the realm of peace and prosperity.King Leonidas was loved by all his subjects for his fairness and kindness. Every morning, he would don his royal blue cloak, adorned with the emblem of his kingdom, and walk among his people, listening to their concerns and sharing in their joys. One day, as the sun rose over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the kingdom, a mysterious traveler arrived at the castle gates. He was a tall man with a long white beard and eyes that sparkled with wisdom. He introduced himself as the Sorcerer of the North and requested an audience with the king.Intrigued, King Leonidas welcomed the sorcerer into histhrone room. The sorcerer presented the king with a magical seed, saying, "This seed holds the power to grant one wish. However, it must be planted with love and nurtured with patience for it to grow and fulfill its promise."The king, ever the servant of his people, decided to plantthe seed in the heart of his kingdom, where all could witness its growth. He dug a hole with his own hands, placed the seed within, and covered it with soil. Every day, he would waterthe seed and speak words of encouragement, hoping to inspire its growth. As the days turned into weeks, the seed began to sprout. It grew into a beautiful tree, its branches reaching for the sky and its roots delving deep into the earth. The tree's leaves shimmered with a thousand colors, and its fruits were said to have the most exquisite taste. The people of the kingdom marveled at the tree and flocked to see it. King Leonidas, however, knew that the tree's true power was yet to be revealed. He continued to care for the tree, showing his people that even the most powerful magic required love and patience. One fateful day, as the king sat beneath the tree's shade, a young girl approached him. She was frail and sick, her eyes filled with sadness. She told the king that her village had been struck by a terrible drought, and the crops had failed, leaving the people hungry and desperate.King Leonidas felt a deep sorrow for the girl and her people. He knew that the time had come to use the tree's magic. He climbed the tree and picked a single fruit, which glowed with a soft, ethereal light. He handed the fruit to the girl and instructed her to return to her village and share it with her people. The girl did as the king commanded, and as the fruit was shared, a miracle occurred. The skies opened, and gentle rain began to fall, ending the drought. The fields turned greenagain, and the people's spirits lifted. The kingdom was saved, and the people celebrated with joy and gratitude.King Leonidas' wish had been granted: to bring happiness and prosperity to his people. The magical tree continued to stand as a symbol of hope and a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness could have a profound impact. And so, the legend of King Leonidas and the magical tree spread throughout the land, inspiring generations to comewith the tale of a king who chose to use his power for the good of all. The kingdom flourished under his wise rule, and peace reigned in the hearts of the people, as it did in the heart of their beloved king.。
