We use the simple present tense to talk about:
➢ Facts
things that are true now 目前的事实
things that are always true 客观事实
➢ States 状态
e.g. This is my book. (things that are true now) Today is Monday. (things that are true now) One and one is two. (things that are always true) He is tall and strong. (things are in a certain state)
2. things that are always true 普遍真理、客观存在、科学事实及格言、警句
Cats eat fish. Sun rises in the east.
3. things that are true now 现在的情况或状态
Simon likes playing football. She has long hair.
Simple present tense of the verb “to be”
am (主语为I) be is (主语为第三人称单数)
are (主语为第二人称you或所有复数)
Daniel is polite and helpful. 否定句：Daniel isn’t polite and helpful. 一般疑问句：Is Daniel polite and helpful? 肯定&否定回答：Yes, he is. / No, he isn’t.

实义动词（行为动词）
实义动词是指表示某种动作行为，有具体意思的动词， 也叫行为动词。如: like, eat, live, run 等等。 实义动词占英语中动词的绝大多数。
我们已学过的be动词可译成“是”，有时译成 “成为”，有时则没有具体意思，如“She is tall.” 这句译成 “她很高”。故be动词不属于实义动词。
