2019年考研英语翻译失分原因(二):处理不周全
在对英文句子实行翻译处理的时候,考生很容易陷入这样一个误区:
在快速浏览句子后,考生能够对句子最基本的意思有一定的了解。


是当对句子的一些细节部分实行处理的时候,考生却容易在部分细节
处理上不能做到周全。

要成功翻译一篇英文文章,既要对英语原文理
解准确无误,又要把汉语表达得流畅通顺。

这样的要求对于考生来说
是相对较高的,且对考生来说,准确全面地理解翻译中的长难句是对
考生智力及生活常识的巨大挑战。

那么如何能在2018考研英语翻译上
取得高分呢?
首先要说,考研英语中的拦路虎就是长而复杂的句子,绝大部分
考生都说看到长句就会尤其恐慌,若是在这个长难句中再出现些生词,那基本上就直接懵掉了,完全不清楚句子的含义。

理解的单词就那几个,考生索性就把几个理解的单词串在一起,有的甚至连自己写出的
译文都不知所云,这怎么能得到高分呢。

所以准确地理解句子结构是
对整个长难句实行翻译的最为重要的一步。

以下面的这个句子为例:“In reality, the lines of division between sciences are becoming blurred, and science again approaching the ‘unity’ that it had two centuries ago-although the accumulated knowledge is enormously greater now, and no one person can hope to comprehend more than a fraction of it”。

在看到这个长句的第一眼时,考生基本上不会遇到生词。

首先,在这个句子当中,破折号前有两个连接词,但只有两个主谓结构,所以在这个句子中能够推断出有部分谓语省略;同时,句中it 代替science。

破折号后句子完整,破折号后的it代替knowledge;这样一来,在实行翻译处理的时候,能够先根据汉语表达习惯,先译让步状
语从句,再译并列主句。

整句的翻译就能够译为:即使现在积累起来
的知识要多得多,而且任何个人也只可能了解其中的一小部分,但事
实上,各学科之间的界限却变得模糊不清,科学再次接近于两百年前
那样的‘单一整体’。

再拿下面这个短句为例“My point is that the frequent complaint of one generation about the one immediately following it is inevitable”,句子虽短,但是要想准确分析这个句子结构也是不容易的。

因为受到inevitable惯用法的影响,很多人可能直接将“it is inevitable”看作一句话,这样考生在实行句子结构分析的时候受到影响,进而影响到翻译的质量。

其实,这个句子真正的主干是my point is that the complaint is inevitable, it 是following 的宾语,指代one generation。

另外,在翻译这个句子的时候也需要注意complaint...about的用法和the one的指代。

所以,最后可将这个句子翻译如下:我认为一代人对一代人的抱怨是难免的。
