英语作文的优秀-My May Day(精彩8篇)

Today is May Day, I follow mom to dinghai haisan park by bus. Here people mountain people sea, there are a lot of children accompanied by mom and dad to play there. 关于介绍清明节的英语作文五年级全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Qingming Festival - A Special Chinese HolidayEvery year when spring is in full bloom, one of the most important Chinese festivals takes place. It's called the Qingming Festival, and it's a time when we honor our ancestors and appreciate the beauty of nature. As a fifth-grader, I'm really excited to tell you all about this special tradition! The name "Qingming" has a lovely meaning. "Qing" means "clear" or "pure", while "ming" means "bright". Together, the name refers to the clear bright weather that usually comes around this time of year. The festival always falls on the 15th day after the Spring Equinox, which is when day and night are equally long. This year, Qingming Festival was on April 5th.One of the main traditions of Qingming Festival is visiting the graves of our ancestors and tidying up their gravesites. My family and I went to the cemetery to sweep off any dirt or debris from my great-grandparents' gravestones. We also left offerings of fresh fruits, flowers, and burning incense and candles. Bydoing this, we're showing our respect and remembrance for those who came before us.Another fun part of Qingming is flying colorful kites! Kites are believed to help prevent illness and bring good luck. My little brother and I really enjoyed decorating our kite with bright colors and patterns before taking it out to fly high in the spring breeze. There were kites of all shapes and sizes soaring through the sky that day!Along with kite flying, there are lots of other activities that happen during Qingming Festival. People might take a day trip to appreciate the new spring blossoms or have a family picnic outdoors. Some areas even have folk dancing, singing and other performances. Of course, there's also plenty of delicious festival food to enjoy like qingtuan (green sticky rice balls) and crispy Mexican meat pies called cengmengyuan. To me, the most meaningful part of Qingming is remembering my ancestors and feeling connected to my family's history. I feel proud knowing the traditions stretch back over 2500 years to when the festival first started during the Spring and Autumn Period of Chinese history. Even though times have changed so much, celebrating Qingming allows us to honor our roots. My grandparents have told me many stories from their own childhood Qingming celebrations, like flying kites with words of blessing written on them or burning willow branches in the hopes of warding off illness for the coming year. Learning about old customs like these makes me feel closer to my heritage.Besides remembering ancestors, Qingming is also a time to appreciate nature's renewal and the cycle of life. All the trees are turning green again, flowers are blooming, and warm weather is finally here after a long winter. At school, we made arts and crafts projects using fresh willow branches to decorate our classrooms. My teacher told us the willow represents life, growth and flexibility - which are all things we celebrate during this festival of spring.I really love how Qingming brings my family together and connects us to our traditions. Even though we live in a modern world now, taking time to honor the past is really important. This festival reminds me to be thankful for my ancestors and to take care of the beautiful natural world around me. I can't wait until next Qingming when I'll be one year older and can take part in even more of the customs and activities. Maybe I'll even get to make the qingtuan rice balls myself next year!篇2The Qingming Festival – A Special Chinese HolidayHi friends! Today I want to tell you all about one of my favorite Chinese holidays – the Qingming Festival. It's a really cool celebration that happens every year. I love learning about different cultures and holidays, so I'm excited to share this with you!The Qingming Festival happens on April 4th, 5th or 6th every year. The date changes a little based on the lunar calendar. It's also called Tomb Sweeping Day. During this festival, Chinese families visit the graves of their ancestors to clean the gravesites and leave offerings like flowers, food, drinks and other items. It's a day to remember and honor your family members who have passed away. We believe that the spirits of our ancestors are close during the Qingming Festival, so it's important to pay our respects. My grandparents take me and my brother to visit our great-grandparents' graves every year. It's a way to keep their memories alive. The coolest part is all the fun traditions and activities! One tradition is eating green dumplings called qingtuan. The green color comes from amazing ingredients like mugwort, bamboo leaves or spinach. They look so pretty and taste delicious, especially when grandma makes them! Yum!Another tradition is flying kites and weaving willow branches into different shapes like rabbits or boxes. Did you know willow branches symbolize growth and life? My dad is really good at making kites. Last year, he made a huge dragon kite that was so awesome! We had competitions to see whose kite could fly the highest.During Qingming, families also do spring cleaning and plant trees, vegetables or flowers. We put up new decorations with poems or colors like green and yellow to welcome the new season. Everything looks so fresh and bright! One of my favorite parts is the cooking! Qingming dishes often use baby bamboo shoots, green vegetables, eggs and special snacks called cerindexes. My mom makes this amazing bamboo shoot soup that's slightly sweet and super yummy. We have big family meals to spend time together. On Qingming, people also go on outdoor trips to enjoy the warm spring weather after winter. Places get really crowded with families having picnics, hiking, flying kites and hanging out. I love seeing all the colorful kites dancing in the sky! Sometimes there are even kite competitions with awesome prizes. The traditions are old, dating back over 2,500 years to the Spring and Autumn Period in Chinese history. Isn't that crazy?People have been celebrating this festival for so, so long. Back then, the emperor led big ceremonies to honor ancestors. Now, it's celebrated all across China and by Chinese communities worldwide. In some areas, people also do interesting folk activities like swinging on tree branches to wish for good luck or hanging smoke-filled satchels called xingnao to guide spirits back from the afterlife. Every region has its own unique Qingming customs which I think is really neat! For me, the best part is spending quality time with my whole extended family. We rarely get to all be together, so Qingming is a special reunion. I get to see my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. We talk, laugh, play games and just enjoy each other's company while honoring our ancestors. It makes me feel so connected to my roots and culture.Well, that's the Qingming Festival in a nutshell! It combines remembrance, thanksgiving, celebration of spring, family time and many cool traditions. I look forward to it every year. Qingming is a wonderful holiday that brings my family closer and helps keep our heritage alive. I feel very lucky to be part of such a rich culture with meaningful festivals like this one. I hope you enjoyed learning about Qingming!篇3The Qingming FestivalHello everyone! My name is Lily and I'm going to tell you all about a really cool festival we celebrate in China called the Qingming Festival. It's also known as Tomb Sweeping Day.The Qingming Festival happens every year on the 15th day after the Spring Equinox, which is usually sometime in early April. On this day, Chinese families visit the graves of their ancestors to clean the gravesites and leave offerings like flowers, fruits, and even favorite foods of those who have passed away. The name "Qingming" means "clear and bright" in Chinese. It refers to the sunny and warm weather we usually have during this time of year. That's why people say the rain on Qingming Festival brings good luck! Isn't that neat?Preparing for QingmingIn the days leading up to Qingming, my family and I get ready for this important festival. We start by cleaning our home from top to bottom to welcome the spirits of our ancestors. My grandma says it's bad luck to have a messy house when the ancestors visit! We also buy special items like willow branches, fresh flowers, fruits, drinks, and other foods to take to the gravesite. My little brother gets really excited picking out the oranges and candies to leave as offerings. He always tries to sneak a few before we go!A fun tradition is making qingtuan, which are green sticky rice balls stuffed with sweet or savory fillings like red bean paste or pork. Yum! We wrap them in bamboo or reed leaves to give them their green color. They look just like little green packages. The Tomb SweepingOn Qingming Festival day, we wake up very early and head to the cemetery where our ancestors' graves are located. I always feel a little sleepy but seeing all my relatives there makes it worthwhile. We start by sweeping off all the dust, dirt, and old offerings from the gravestone with special brooms made of willow branches. It's called "tomb sweeping" for a reason! Then we pull out any weeds and grass growing around the gravesite.Next, we place all the fresh flowers, fruits, drinks, and foods as new offerings for our ancestors' spirits. We also burn incense and special paper money, which is believed to be used by ourancestors in the afterlife. The gravesite looks so colorful and neat when we're done decorating it.My grandparents lead our family in bowing and kowtowing in front of the grave to show our respect. We each take a moment to talk to our ancestors quietly and tell them about what's been happening in our lives since the last Qingming. After leaving the cemetery, many families like mine will have a reunion picnic or meal together. We bring delicious dishes that the ancestors enjoyed when they were alive, almost like we're having a feast with them. My favorite part is always flying kites with my cousins later in the afternoon! The Importance of QingmingQingming is one of the most important festivals and holidays in China. For me, it's a chance to honor my ancestors and connect with my family's past. We get to remember all those who came before us and made our lives possible today.Even though it involves gravesites, Qingming is not a sad or spooky occasion at all. It's a joyful celebration of life where we welcome the return of spring. Spending this day with my relatives makes me feel very fortunate.I hope you enjoyed learning about the Qingming Festival! It's one of my favorite times of the year. Maybe you can start your own Qingming traditions with your family too. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇4The Qingming Festival: A Special Chinese HolidayHi friends! Today I'm going to tell you all about this really cool Chinese holiday called the Qingming Festival. It's also known as Tomb Sweeping Day. Every year my family celebrates this festival in the springtime and it's one of my favorite days! The Qingming Festival has been celebrated in China for over 2,500 years! That's a super duper long time ago. It started way back in the Zhou Dynasty when people would go outside and enjoy the warm spring weather after the cold winter months. They saw that a lot of plants and trees were blooming with pretty flowers. So the people decided to have a festival to celebrate spring's arrival. How awesome is that? But the Qingming Festival isn't just about the nice spring weather. It's also a day when Chinese families visit the graves of their ancestors who passed away. We show respect to our family members who came before us by cleaning off their tombstones. That's where the name "Tomb Sweeping Day" comes from! My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and I all go together with brooms, brushes, flowers and yummy food.First we clean off each tombstone really well to make it look nice and new again. Then we put fresh flowers down and burn incense and special papers called "joss paper." The burning joss paper symbolizes giving gifts and money to our ancestors in the afterlife so they have everything they need. Isn't that thoughtful of us?After that, we set out all the delicious meats, fruits, vegetables, and desserts we brought as an offering for our ancestors' spirits. My favorite part is getting to sample all the tasty dishes! We leave the food there for a little while to allow the spirits to enjoy it. Then our whole family gets to eat it up. The food always tastes sooooo good after being out in the warm spring air.My grandparents teach me about each ancestor we're honoring - who they were, what kind of lives they lived, and any funny or interesting stories about them. I love learning about my family history! Paying respect to our ancestors is the most important part of Qingming Festival. The Chinese believe that ifwe don't honor our ancestors, then they will get mad at us and bring us bad luck. Yikes, I definitely don't want that! But the Qingming Festival doesn't just involve going to graves. Lots of people also go outside for fun spring activities. Families might go on picnics, fly kites, watch puppet shows, or just enjoy being out in nature as everything starts blooming again. Kids get excited because it means no more school for a couple days - wahoo!Another popular tradition is to go outside and plant trees or go gardening on Qingming Festival. We do this to promote new life and growth, just like the plants sprouting up in spring. My grandpa always takes me and my cousins to the park so we can plant a new baby tree. I'll never forget the year we planted a cherry blossom tree - now every spring it blooms with the most beautiful pink flowers!I hope you can see why I love the Qingming Festival so much. Getting to spend quality time with my whole family, honoring our ancestors, being outside enjoying the spring weather, and eating delicious food - what's not to love? The Qingming Festival celebrates the cycles of life, death, rebirth, and renewal. It reminds us to appreciate nature and our families.Next time the Qingming Festival comes around in early April, maybe you could join in some of the fun traditions! Even if you're not Chinese, it's a great way to welcome the spring season. You could visit your ancestors' graves, go on a picnic, do some planting or just fly a kite. The important thing is to be surrounded by your loved ones as you celebrate life, renewal and respect for those who came before us. Doesn't that sound like the perfect spring day?篇5The Qingming Festival - A Special Day to Honor Our AncestorsDo you know what the Qingming Festival is? It's a really cool tradition we have in China to remember and pay respect to our ancestors who came before us. Every year, it falls on a different date, somewhere around early April. And let me tell you, it's a pretty big deal!On Qingming, which literally means "Clear and Bright," families all across China go out to visit the graves of their grandparents, great-grandparents, and other relatives who have passed away. We tidy up their graves, sweep away any dirt or fallen leaves, and place fresh flowers and burning incense sticks. It's our way of showing them that we still care about them and haven't forgotten them, even though they're no longer with us.But Qingming isn't just about visiting graves. It's also a time for families to get together, have a picnic or BBQ near the gravesite, and share stories about their ancestors. My grandpa always tells the funniest tales about my great-great-grandma and how she used to chase the chickens around the yard with her walking stick. It's like we're keeping their memories alive by talking about them and laughing at the silly things they did.One of my favorite parts of Qingming is making those special food offerings we leave at the graves. My mom is an awesome cook, and she always makes my ancestors' favorite dishes – like steamed pork buns, sticky rice dumplings, and candied fruit. We also burn fake paper money and other paper objects, like cars or houses, because we believe that these things will become real in the afterlife and our ancestors can use them. It's kind of like sending them gifts, but in a spiritual way.Sometimes, if the weather is nice, we'll fly kites or play traditional games like diabolo or shuttle cock near the graveyard. It's a way to have fun and feel closer to our ancestors, like they're watching over us and enjoying the festivities too.But Qingming isn't all just fun and games. It's also a time to reflect on life and death, and how we're all part of a long chain of generations that stretches back through history. When I see the old, weathered gravestones of my great-great-grandparents, I can't help but wonder what their lives were like and how different the world was when they were kids. It's kind of mind-blowing to think that, one day, my kids and grandkids will be visiting my grave and telling stories about me, just like I do now with my ancestors. It makes me want to live a life that they'll be proud to talk about and remember me by.That's why Qingming is so much more than just a festival to me. It's a chance to connect with my roots, to learn from the past, and to appreciate how lucky I am to be part of this big, crazy family tree we call life. And who knows, maybe a few hundred years from now, some kid will be sitting at my graveside, eating a pork bun, and listening to wild tales about that time I got stuck in a tree trying to catch a kite!So there you have it, my take on this awesome Chinese tradition called Qingming. Whether you're sweeping a grave, flying a kite, or just chowing down on some tastyancestor-approved snacks, I hope you'll take a moment to think about where you came from and how you want to beremembered someday. Because at the end of the day, that's what Qingming is all about – keeping the memories alive and passing them down for generations to come.篇6The Qingming Festival: A Special Day to Remember Our AncestorsHi, my name is Lily and I'm going to tell you all about the Qingming Festival, which is one of my favorite holidays! It's a really old Chinese festival that has been celebrated for more than 2,500 years. Isn't that amazing? The Qingming Festival always falls sometime in early April, when the weather is getting warmer and lots of plants start blooming again after winter. So what exactly is the Qingming Festival? Well, it's a day when we Chinese people visit the graves of our ancestors to remember and honor them. We clean off the gravesites, pull the weeds, and leave offerings like flowers, fruits, and even the ancestors' favorite foods and drinks. By doing this, we show respect for those who came before us in our families. The name "Qingming" has a really cool meaning too. "Qing" means "clear" or "pure", and "ming" means "bright". So Qingming represents a time of clear, bright weather after thecold winter. It's like the ancestors are being welcomed back during the refreshing spring season. Pretty neat, right? But the Qingming Festival isn't just about visiting graves. It's also a time for family reunions, spring outings, and fun activities. One traditional thing people do is fly colorful kites shaped like animals or heroes. There are kite flying competitions and everything! People also hang up inflatable figurines called "centipede lamps" that are made of colored silk and bamboo. They look so cool swaying in the breeze. My favorite part of Qingming is all the delicious food! There are special dishes made just for this festival, like sweet green rice balls and braised vegetarian meals. Yum! My grandma always makes her famous cold marinated beef and eggs. We also drink fresh green tea and eat qingtuan, which are small green stuffed buns. The green color represents the fresh spring season.During Qingming, our whole family packs a bunch of food and goes on a picnic in the countryside or a park. We find a spot under some willow trees and lay out a nice blanket. While we eat, we play traditional games like tug-of-war and kick shuttlecocks. It's so fun to be outside enjoying the warm spring weather after being cooped up inside all winter!Of course, the most important part of Qingming is sweeping the ancestral graves. A few days before, my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all get together to clean up our family cemetery plots. We pull any weeds, wash the gravestones, and decorate them with fresh flowers. It's hard work, but we do it with respect and care.On the actual Qingming day, we get up really early and put on our nicest clothes. We pack a bunch of food offerings like fruits, meat dishes, sweets, and beverages. Then we drive out to the cemetery, light some incense, and leave all the food at our ancestors' gravesites as offerings to them. We also burn papercraftworks like mini houses or cars as symbolic gifts. As we're doing this, my grandparents whisper prayers to honor our ancestors' spirits. After that, the whole family has a picnic right there in the cemetery. We set up folding tables and chairs, lay out the food, and have a nice meal together. It's really peaceful and beautiful there, especially with spring blooms all around. We drink hot tea and reminisce about our ancestors by sharing funny family stories and memories. It makes me feel very connected to my heritage.I always feel a little sad when Qingming is over. But I'm also thankful that I got to spend quality time with my family while honoring our ancestral roots. The Qingming Festival is such a meaningful tradition that brings families closer together. I look forward to carrying on this 2,500 year old custom when I'm an adult and parent someday. Maybe I'll even get to teach my own kids about the importance of respecting their ancestors during this special spring celebration. So that's the Qingming Festival in a nutshell! It combines elements of honoring the past, celebrating the spring season, spending time with loved ones, and having lots of fun. If you ever get a chance to experience Qingming in China, you definitely should. It's a beautiful holiday that is rich in culture and meaning. Thanks for reading my essay, and happy Qingming!。

myholidayjourney作文

myholidayjourney作文

myholidayjourney作文I had been looking forward to this holiday journey for ages. I had planned to go to a place that was both peaceful and full of natural beauty – a small village by the sea.I packed my bags with all the essentials: a couple of light summer dresses, a pair of comfortable sandals, my favorite sunhat, and of course, my camera to capture all the wonderful moments. When I arrived at the village, the first thing that struck me was the smell of the sea. It was a mix of salt and freshness that just made me feel so alive. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was like a constant lullaby.I stayed in a small cottage that was just a few minutes' walk from the beach. The cottage was surrounded by beautiful flowers and had a little porch where I could sit and enjoy the view. The first morning of my holiday, I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. I threw open the windows and let the gentle sea breeze fill the room. I quickly got dressed and headed to the beach. The sand was warm under my feet, and as I walked closer to the water, the waves would come and tickle my toes.I spent hours just sitting on the beach, watching the seagulls fly overhead and the fishermen bring in their catch. There was this one old fisherman whohad a weathered face but the kindest eyes. He would tell me stories about the sea and the creatures that lived in its depths. One day, I decided to go for a hike in the nearby hills. The path was lined with wildflowers and tall grass that brushed against my legs as I walked. Every now and then, I would stop to take a picture of a butterfly or a strange-looking bug. When I reached the top of the hill, the view was breathtaking. I could see the entire village, the blue expanse of the sea, and the green fields stretching as far as the eye could see. I sat there for a long time, just taking it all in and feeling so grateful for this moment. In the evenings, I would walk along the beach as the sun set. The sky would turn all kinds of colors – pink, orange, and purple – and it was like a painting that kept changing by the minute. There was this one night when I decided to go stargazing. I lay on the sand, looking up at the sky filled with countless stars. It felt like I was in a different world, far away from all the hustle and bustle of city life.During my holiday, I also tried the local food. There was this little shack by the beach that sold the most amazing seafood. I had fresh crab, grilled fish, and the best clam chowder I've ever tasted. The people in the village were so friendly and welcoming. Everywhere I went, there were smiles and greetings. There was this lady who ran a small bakery, and she would always give me an extra pastry when I stopped by.As my holiday came to an end, I felt a tinge of sadness. I didn't want to leave this peaceful paradise. But I knew that I would carry the memories of this journey with me forever. Now, back in the city, whenever I feel stressed or tired, I close my eyes and think about the sound of the waves, the smell of the sea, and the warm sand under my feet. My holiday journey to that little village by the sea was truly a magical experience that I will always cherish.。

What we have done is to find whether we can know someone's character and behavior depending on their taste.”In one of their experiments, college students were asked questions about their character-whether, for example, they were soft-hearted or not, Then they were asked to make a list of their favorite food, According to their answers, the scientists found that the students who liked sweet food were nicer. In their another experiment, the scientists found that people who preferred sweet food such as cookies and chocolate were more willing to help other people in need, and those who ate non-sweet food such as chips weren't, For example, people with a sweet tooth were more likely to volunteer(志愿服务) to clean up their city, visit sick children in the hospital and so on.The result of the experiments is that people's helpfulness or being nice has something to do with their taste for sweet food, So eating sweet food is a useful way to make people nice and helpful, Next time, try some ice-cream.1.
