My Awesome City - Nanjing!
Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. I live in the amazing city of Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province in China. Nanjing is a really cool place with tons of fun stuff to see and do. Today, I want to tell you all about some of my favorite scenic spots around town. Get ready to learn about my awesome city!
First up is the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. I know the name sounds kind of sad, but this place is really important for remembering history. Back in 1937, during World War 2, many innocent people lost their lives in Nanjing. The memorial has cool exhibits that teach you what happened through pictures, artifacts, and stories. It's definitely an educational experience, but also very sobering. My mom says it's important we never forget tragedies like this so they never happen again.
Now for something more fun - Xuanwu Lake Park! This huge park has a beautiful lake right in the middle of the city. You can rent a little boat and row around on the water, which is my
favorite thing to do there. The park also has gorgeous gardens with all kinds of pretty flowers and trees. They have pedal boats shaped like swans that are perfect for kids. On hot summer days, I love grabbing an ice cream and just walking along the shady paths. It's a amazing green space right in the heart of Nanjing.
One place I'm sure you've heard of is the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. This is the final resting place of the Hongwu Emperor who founded the Ming Dynasty way back in the 1300s. The tomb area is absolutely massive and surrounded by these small hills called the "Fenghuang Mountains." Everything is built from cool gray bricks in the traditional Ming architectural style. My dad says the underground tomb palace is incredible, with detailed carvings and statues. The whole place feels mysterious and almost magical. It's amazing to imagine what life was like 600 years ago!
Definitely one of the coolest spots in Nanjing is Qinghuai River. This winding river cuts right through the city center and both sides are lined with snack stalls, shops, bars and restaurants. My friends and I love walking along the river banks, checking out all the fun stores and street food vendors. You can find everything from classic Nanjing snacks like duck blood soup (don't worry, it sounds way grosser than it is!) to kabobs,
dumplings, and sugary toffee bananas. The lanterns hanging over the river make it feel so lively and exciting at night.
For a taste of modern Nanjing, you have to visit Nanjing Eye! This giant ferris wheel is one of the biggest in the world. When you ride in one of the enclosed glass gondolas, you get incredible panoramic views of the whole city skyline. It's especially beautiful all lit up at night. I have to admit, I was a tiny bit scared the first time I went on it because it's so high up. But the views were totally worth facing my fear of heights! There are tons of shops and restaurants surrounding the ferris wheel too.
Last but definitely not least, I have to mention the Nanjing City Wall. Dating back over 600 years, this was the longest city wall ever built in China, stretching over 35 kilometers! Today, only about a quarter of the original wall still stands. My grandpa loves taking me to Zhonghua Gate, which is part of the ancient wall and one of the coolest sections still around. You can actually walk along portions of the restored wall and picture what it was like for soldiers guarding the city centuries ago. I love learning about history from places like this.
Well, those are some of the top highlights to check out in Nanjing based on this fourth grader's opinion! I feel so lucky growing up in such an amazing city packed with culture, history,

Nanjing: A City Full of Wonders
Hi there! My name is Lily, and I'm a student from Nanjing, a beautiful city in eastern China. Today, I want to take you on a journey and share with you some of the amazing places that make my hometown so special.
Let's start with the iconic Zhonghua Gate, which stands tall and proud in the heart of Nanjing. This grand gate was built during the Ming Dynasty, and its magnificent architecture will leave you in awe. As you walk through the gate, you'll feel like
you've stepped back in time, surrounded by the rich history and culture of this ancient city.
One of my favorite spots is the Qinhuai River, which winds its way through the city like a sparkling ribbon. Along its banks, you'll find charming little boats called "gondolas" that you can ride on, just like the ones in Venice, Italy! The river is lined with beautiful willow trees, and at night, the whole area is lit up with colorful lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere.

My Amazing Trip to Nanjing!
Last summer, my family and I went on a super fun vacation to Nanjing! Nanjing is the capital city of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. It's a really big and historic city with lots of incredible sights to see. I'm going to tell you all about the awesome places we visited there!
Our first stop was the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. This huge museum teaches people about a very sad event from history called the Nanjing Massacre, which happened in 1937 during a war. Over 300,000 people were killed by invading soldiers back then. The museum has exhibits with photos, artifacts, and survivor stories that show just how awful the massacre was. It made me feel really sad learning about all the suffering, but also grateful that I live in a peaceful time. Even though the topic was heavy, I'm glad I went because it's important to remember history.
After that, we went to see the Nanjing City Wall and Gate. This huge ancient wall surrounds a big part of the city center. We walked along a section of the wall that's still intact after over 600 years! There are beautiful gates and watchtowers built into the
wall that we climbed up. From the top, we could see an amazing view of the whole city. It was awesome imagining what it would have been like to be a guard patrolling the walls back in ancient times.
The next day, we visited Xuanwu Lake Park, which is a huge park built around a big lake. We rented a little paddle boat and explored the lake, looking for fish, turtles and birds. There were beautiful gardens, old temples, and even an ancient gate in the park too. My favorite part was the Zixia Lake Mound, which is a hill you can climb up that gives you a panoramic view of the whole park and lake. The scenery was just breathtaking up there.
One morning, we took a trip to Nanjing Confucius Temple, which was originally built over 1,500 years ago! Confucius was a famous ancient Chinese philosopher whose teachings were very influential. The temple grounds are beautiful with historical buildings, gardens, and stone tablets carved with inspirational sayings from Confucius. We watched students in traditional dress perform rituals and ceremonies to honor Confucius. It was fascinating to learn about his wisdom and a big part of Chinese culture.
My absolute favorite place we went was the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. This gigantic suspension bridge stretches across
the massive Yangtze River, which is one of the largest rivers in the world! Just driving across the bridge was an adventure, seeing the river below us and the huge ships sailing through. But the best part was going up to the bridge's observation deck and getting an incredible view of the whole river and city skyline. The breeze was blowing and I could see forever - it made me feel so small but also so free! Definitely an unforgettable experience.
Towards the end of our trip, we visited Purple Mountain, which are gorgeous forested hills right in the city. We took a cablecar ride up to the top and hiked around the trails, looking at old Buddhist temples, rocks with inscriptions carved into them, and beautiful landscapes of the mountains. We also saw the Xiaoling Tomb, which is an emperor's tomb from the Ming Dynasty that has underground chambers and bridges. Hiking in nature was a nice peaceful break from the bustling city.
On our very last day, we explored the Nanjing Fuzimiao area. This historic district has shops, restaurants, and old buildings that show a lot of Nanjing's culture. We browsed the vendors selling traditional handicrafts, art, snacks, and souvenirs. We also visited the Fuzi Miao academy, which was a prestigious school for scholars back in ancient China. It had pretty courtyards and
rooms for studying Confucianism. This area made me feel like I had traveled back in time!
Whew, we sure packed a lot into our Nanjing trip! Seeing the ancient sites was like stepping into the pages of my history book, only better because I was actually there. And the modern sights like the river bridge showed what an amazing city Nanjing is today too. This trip opened my eyes to a whole new world of culture, history, and natural beauty. Nanjing is such a fascinating place that blends the past and present together. I'll never forget the experiences and things I learned there!

My Wonderful City of Nanjing
Hi there! I'm an elementary school student living in the amazing city of Nanjing. I really love my hometown and want to tell you all about the cool places you can visit here. Nanjing has so many fun things to see and do!
One of my favorite places is Xuanwu Lake. It's a huge lake right in the middle of the city with a park all around it. You can rent little boats and paddle around on the water. There are also lots of walking paths where you can see flowers, trees, and adorable squirrels scampering about. Sometimes they'll even
take food right from your hand! On the east side of the lake, there's a really tall tower called the Xuanwu Gate that was built hundreds of years ago during the Ming Dynasty. You can climb up to the top and get an incredible view of the whole city.
The Qinhuai River is another awesome place, especially at night when all the lanterns and lights along the riverfront are glowing. People sell all kinds of tasty snacks and treats from little stalls and carts. My favorites are candied hawthorn fruits and tiny fried dough sticks. The river is lined with old buildings that used to be homes and shops from long ago. You can even take a boat tour down the river under all the beautiful bridges.
For a bird's eye view, you have to go up Jinghai Hill. It's this tall hill on an island in the Qinhuai River with stone stairs leading all the way to the top. From there, you get a panoramic vista of the whole downtown area. On a clear day, you can see all the modern skyscrapers and ancient monuments laid out below. Jinghai Hill is covered in camellias and plum trees that bloom with the most beautiful pink, red, and white flowers.
One place that's really fascinating is the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. It has displays and exhibits showing what happened in 1937 when the Japanese army invaded and occupied Nanjing. While the history is very sad, the memorial
helps make sure we never forget the tragic events and human suffering that occurred. It reminds us of the importance of promoting peace.
Nanjing has so many different parks and gardens too! At Xuanwu Lake Park, you can feed the swans and ducks that glide across the water. Zixia Lake has an entire bamboo forest growing on its islands with winding paths to explore. The Qingliangshan Park features picturesque views of craggy limestone hills and caves. And the Nanjing Botanical Garden has plants and flowers from all over the world in its huge greenhouse conservatories.
For fun and games, you'll love the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Park which has lots of cool playgrounds, rides, and activities. There's a ferris wheel, rollercoaster, carnival games, trampolines, and even little motorized animal carts to drive! I also really like spending sunny days at Mochouhu Park where they have bumper boats, paddleboats, mini golf, and an outdoor water park.
Those are just some of my favorite spots in Nanjing! Our city has such an amazing mix of history, culture, nature, and entertainment. I feel so lucky to live in a place with so much to see and do. My Favorite Places in Nanjing
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming, and I'm a 10-year-old student from Nanjing. Today, I want to share with you some of my favorite places in this amazing city. Nanjing is full of incredible sights and has a super rich history. Let me tell you all about it!
First up, we have the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. I know, it sounds a bit sad, but this place is really important for remembering a terrible event from World War II. Inside, there are exhibits that teach us about the horrific massacre that happened in Nanjing in 1937. Even though it's a bit heavy, I think it's crucial for us to learn about history so we can prevent such tragedies from ever happening again.
Next, let's talk about something a bit lighter – the Nanjing Botanical Garden! This place is absolutely massive, with over 300 hectares of stunning gardens, ponds, and forests. My favorite part is the Peony Garden, which has hundreds of different types of peonies blooming in springtime. The colors are just
breathtaking! There's also a really cool greenhouse called the Chinese Tropical Greenhouse, where you can see all sorts of exotic plants and even some butterflies fluttering around.
Speaking of nature, have you ever heard of the Qixia Mountain? It's this huge, beautiful mountain right in the heart of Nanjing. There are tons of hiking trails, ancient temples, and even a really fun roller coaster ride at the top! My friends and I love spending weekends exploring the mountain trails and taking in the fresh air. Just be warned – the hike can be pretty tiring, so bring lots of snacks and water!
Another awesome spot in Nanjing is the Confucius Temple. This place is like a giant museum dedicated to the famous philosopher Confucius and his teachings. The architecture is absolutely stunning, with gorgeous gardens, pavilions, and halls. My favorite part is the Xue Xiao, which was an ancient school where students would study Confucianism. You can even see the classrooms and living quarters from back in the day!
Last but not least, we have the Nanjing Fuzimiao, or the Fuzi Temple. This place is dedicated to the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhu Xi, who was a big deal in the Song Dynasty. The temple buildings are seriously old, with some parts dating back over 800 years! My favorite thing to do is watch the daily rituals
performed by the monks. They burn incense, chant, and bow in a really mesmerizing way.

My Hometown: Nanjing's Beautiful Sights
Hi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I live in the amazing city of Nanjing, which is the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. Nanjing has a super long history going back over 2,500 years! It used to be the capital of several ancient dynasties. Because of this, my hometown is filled with incredible historical sites and beautiful scenic areas. Let me tell you about some of my favorite places in Nanjing!
The Qinhuai River Area
One of the coolest spots in Nanjing is the area around the Qinhuai River. This little river winds through the center of the city and its banks are lined with traditional architecture, cute little shops, restaurants, and snack stalls. I love going there with my parents to take a stroll along the riverbanks. The buildings have pretty carved wooden beams and upturned roofs. It feels like stepping back in time!
My favorite part is the Fuzimiao area, which has the Fuzi Miao (Confucius Temple). This huge temple complex with gray stone walls and grand gateways honors Confucius, the famous ancient Chinese philosopher. The temples have great decorated halls with intricate wooden carvings and pottery figurines. There's even a small forest of stone tablets covered in beautiful calligraphy! I think it's so cool to imagine students studying Confucius' teachings here hundreds of years ago.
After visiting the temples, I always beg my parents to take me to Laocu Dajie, which is a famous snack street. The smells of all the sizzling food stalls wafting through the air are
mouth-watering! I love snacking on yummy treats like candied hawthorn berries, crispy fried dough twists, and my absolute favorite - warm soft soymilk donuts fresh from the fryer. Mmm, my tummy is rumbling just thinking about it!
The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum
One of the most famous attractions in Nanjing is the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. This is the final resting place of the Hongwu Emperor, who founded the Ming Dynasty way back in 1368. The mausoleum took over 20 years and thousands of workers to build!
The approach to the tomb area is like a long, beautiful road lined with huge stone sculptures of animals and officials. My little legs always get tired walking the whole way! The highlights are the Soul Tower, where the emperor's soul tablet was kept, and the huge underground tomb chamber itself. The chamber has an arched granite ceiling weighing thousands of tons – I can't even imagine how they constructed it so long ago!
My favorite parts are the adorable little sculptures of the emperor's stone guards and civil and military officials. They have such awesome, fierce expressions and detailed clothing and accessories. My brother and I always have to stop and make funny poses mimicking them.
Purple Mountain and Plum Garden
I also really enjoy visiting Purple Mountain, a group of small mountains and hills just east of Nanjing's city center. Many of the
area's best attractions are located here, like lush gardens, ancient Buddhist sites, and scenic hiking trails.
My favorite spot is Plum Garden, which is the best place to view spring's beautiful purple and white plum blossoms. The garden covers the entire northern slope of Purple Mountain with row after row of plum trees and winding paths and pavilions in between. It's so much fun to wander around the garden, breathing in the sweet floral aromas and watching the soft petals drifting in the breeze. I love using my camera to take close-up photos of the delicate flowers. Plum blossom season is definitely the most wonderful time of year!
Another cool place on Purple Mountain is the Linggu Temple, an ancient Buddhist compound with some of the oldest Buddhist grottoes and rock carvings in the country. Linggu has towering pagodas covered in gorgeous detailed carvings, tranquil ponds, and atmospheric shrines hidden up in the mountain's craggy cliffs. Part of the fun is walking along the stone pathways through the forest and coming upon a surprise new hidden temple or cave around every turn! The many old hugeStatues of Buddha are amazing to see close up.
A City of History and Beauty
As you can probably tell, I'm really proud of all the incredible historic sites and scenic views in my hometown Nanjing. Every place has its own unique architecture, stories, and special charms that make me appreciate the city's long, fascinating history. When I was younger, honestly, I sometimes thought of all the ancient stuff as kind of boring. But now that I'm older, I feel so lucky to grow up surrounded by this living museum of a city where the past comes alive everywhere you look. Nanjing truly is a beautiful and culturally rich place. If you ever get a chance to visit, you'll understand why I love my hometown so much!。
