用英语介绍美国的作文篇1The United States of America, also known as the United States, the U.S., the U.S.A., and America, is a country in North America that shares land borders with Canada and Mexico, and a sea border with Russia. Extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, the United States is a federal republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C.The present-day continental United States has been inhabited for at least 15,000 years by indigenous tribes.[1] After European exploration and settlement in the 16th century, the English established their own colonies—and gained control of others that had been begun by other European nations—in the eastern portion of the continent in the 17th and early 18th centuries. On 4 July 1776, at war with Britain over fair governance, thirteen of these colonies declared their independence. In 1783, the war ended in British acceptance of the new nation. Since then, the country has more than quadrupled in size: it now consists of 50 states and one federal district; it also has numerous overseas territories. At over 3.7 million square miles (over 9.5 million km), the U.S. is the third or fourth largest country by total area, depending on whether the disputed areas of China are included. It is the worlds third most populous nation, with nearly 300 million people. The United States has maintained a liberal democratic political system since it adopted its Articles of Confederation on 1 March 1781 and the Constitution, the Articles replacement, on 17 September 1787. American military, economic, cultural, and political influence increased throughout the 20th century; with the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War, the nation emerged as the worlds sole remaining superpower.[2] Today, it plays a major role in world affairs. The earliest known use of the name America is from 1507, when a globe and a large map created by the German cartographer Martin Waldseemüller in Saint-Die-des-Vosges described the combined continents of North and South America. Although the origin of the name is uncertain[3], the most widely held belief is that expressed in an accompanying book, Cosmographiae Introductio, which explains it as a feminized version of the Latin name of Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci (Americus Vespucius); in Latin, the other continents names were all feminine. Vespucci theorized, correctly, that Christopher Columbus, on reaching islands in the Caribbean Sea in 1492, had come not to India but to a "New World".The Americas were also known as Columbia, after Columbus, prompting the name District of Columbia for the land set aside as the U.S. capital. Columbia remained a popular name for the United States until the early 20th century, when it fell into relative disuse; but it is still used poetically and appears in various names and titles. A female personification of the country is also called Columbia; she is similar to Britannia.[4][5][6][7] Columbus Day, a holiday in the U.S. and other countries in the Americas commemorating Columbus October 1492 landing. The term "united States of America" was first used officiallyin the Declaration of Independence, adopted on 4 July 1776. On 15 November 1777, the Second Continental Congreadopted the Articles of Confederation, the first of which stated "The Stile of this Confederacy shall be The United States of America."The adjectival and demonymic forms for the United States are American, a point of controversy among some.用英语介绍美国的作文篇2A history of long and effortless success can be a dreadful handicap, but,if properly handled,it may become a driving force. When the United States entered just such a glowing period after the end of the Second World War,it had a market eight times larger than any competitor ,giving its industries unparalleled economies of scale. Its scientists were the world's best, its workers the most skilled.American and Americans were prosperous beyongd the dreams of the Europeans and Asians whose economeics the war had destroyed. It was inevitable that this primacy should have narrowed as other countries grew richer.Just as inevitably, the retreat from predominace proved painful.By the mid 1980s Americans had found themselves at a losss over their fading industrial competitiveness. Some huge American industries, such as consumer electronics, hand shrunk or vanished in the face of foreign competitiong.By 1987 there was only one American television maker left,Zenith.(Now there is none :Zenith was bought by SouthKorea'sLGElectronics in July.)Foreign made cars and textiles were sweeeping into the domestic market.America's machine-tool industry was on the ropes. For a while it looked as though the makeing of semiconductors, whidh America had invented and which sat at the heart of the new computer age,was going to be the next caualty. All of this caused a crisis of confidenc.Americans stopped taking prosperity ofr granted .They began to believe that their way of doing business was failing, and that their incomes would therefore shourtly begin to fall as well .The mind -1980s brought one inquiry after another into the causes ofAmerica's in dustrial decline.Thir sometimes sensational findings were filled with warnings about the growing competitiong from overseas. How things have changed!I1995 the United States can look back on five years of solid growth while Japan has been struggling.Few Americans attribute this Self doubt has yielded to blind pride.American industry has changed its structure ,has gone on a diet ,has learnt to be more quik witted, according to Richard Cavanagh, executive dean of Harvards Kennedy School of Government.'It makes me proud to be an American just to see how our businesses are improving theirproductivity, says Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute ,a think tank in Washington,DC,And William Sahlman of the Harvard Business School believes that people will look back on this perido as a golden age of business management in the United States.用英语介绍美国的作文篇3Based on historical documents, modern survey and statistics, as well as the result of predecessor studies, the trend and main process of forest dynamics are recognized. The forest area and forest coverage rates for each province of China from 1700 to 1949 are es- timated backward by every 50 years. Linking the result with modern National Forest Inventory data, the spatial-temporal dynamics of Chinese forest in recent 300 years (AD 1700–1998) is quantitatively analyzed. The study shows that in recent 300 years, the forest area in current territory of China has declined by 0.95×108 hm2 (or 9.2% of the coverage rate) in total, with a trend of decrease and recovery. Before the 1960s, there was a trend of accelerated de- scending. The forest area was reduced by 1.66×108 hm2 (or 17% of the coverage rate) in 260 years. While after the 1960s, there has been a rapid increase. The forest area increased by 0.7×108 hm2 (or 8% of the coverage rate) in 40 years. The study also shows that there is a significant spatial difference in the dynamics of forest. The amplitudes of increasing and de- creasing in western China are both smaller than the ones in eastern China. During the rapid declining period from 1700 to 1949, the most serious decrease appeared in the Northeast, the Southwest and the Southeast, where the coverage rate in most provinces dropped over 20%. In Heilongjiang Province, the coverage rate dropped by 50%. In Jilin Province, it dropped by 36%. In Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality, it dropped by 42%. In Yunnan Prov- ince, it dropped by 35%. During the recovery period 1949–1998, the western provinces, mu- nicipality and autonomous regions, including Ningxia, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Si- chuan–Chongqing, Yunnan, Tibet, Xinjiang and Qinghai, etc, the increase rates are all below 5%, while the eastern provinces, municipality and autonomous regions (except Heilongjiang, Hubei, Jiangsu–Shanghai) have achieved an increase over 5%, among which the Guang- dong–Hainan, Guangxi, Anhui, Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Zhejiang, and Fu- jian have an increase over 10%.用英语介绍美国的作文篇4American flag for a rectangular shape, length and width ratio of 19:10 for the Stars and Stripes (the Star-Spangled Banner), the upper-left corner flag for the blue stars surface area of the stars a few provisions in the respective departments, the United States is the state flag on the number of a few of the stars. 美国英语作文篇2the ways of history are so intricate and the motivations of human actions so complex that it is always hazardous to attempt to represent events covering a number of years, a multiplicity of persons, and distant localities as the expression of one intellectual or social movement; yet the historical process which culminated in the ascent of thomas jefferson to the presidencycan be regarded as the outstanding example not only of the birth of a new way of life but of nationalism as a new way of life.the american revolution represents the link between the seventeenth century, in which modern england became conscious of itself, and the awakening of modern europe at the end of the eighteenth century. it may seem strange that the march of history should have had to cross the atlantic ocean, but only in the north american colonies could a struggle for civic liberty lead also to the foundation of a new nation.here, in the popular rising against a "tyrannical" government, the fruits were more than the securing of a freer constitution. they included the growth of a nation born in liberty by the will of the people, not from the roots of common descent, a geographic entity, or the ambitions of king or dynasty.with the american nation, for the first time, a nation was born, not in the dim past of history but before the eyes of the whole world.美国英语作文篇3"We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas…"Have you heard that song? Yup! It's Christmas time! This Christmas, I stayed with my "host family"1. It was an amazing experience to see how a typical American family would celebrate the biggest western festival of the year.Christmas, like our Spring Festival, has a meaning in itself. Christmas Day, which is on December 25, is the birthday of Jesus Christ--the son of God. That's why it is called Christmas. On that day, Christians would get together with their families to celebrate the birthday of Jesus. But nowadays, the religious meaning of Christmas has become less emphasized. To many families, it is just a time of family reunion and the ever-exciting present-giving.Our school had been on winter vacation since December 11.I stayed at my friend, Stephen Stapczynski's house--his family was my "host family". Although Christmas was still more than ten days ahead, the festive spirit had already been teeming everywhere. The Christmas tree had already been set up, and on every windowsill, there were Christmas lights. On the first day I arrived at their house, Stephen and I helped Mrs. Stapczynski put decorations on the Christmas tree. The tree looked so nice with all the lights on and the beautiful ornaments dangling from its branches. As Christmas came closer, the whole neighborhood had made preparations too. Some people would hold parties at their houses, inviting all their neighbors to come. So every night, if you went out, you would see a long line of cars parked in front of some house--a party's on!What's more, the Christmas decorations that some people put on their windows and in gardens were just amazing. On one night, we went out in our car for a "tour of lights". There was one street that was so famous for its lights that it got its way into the local paper. We had a hard time finding the well-hidden street, but it turned out to be worth the effort. Lights shone brightly in front of nearly every house, on trees, bushes, doors, windows…everywhere, taking different shapes, making it seem almost like daytime. Huge inflatable figures in the front gardens were waving to us: there were Santa Clauses2, of course, chuckling merrily away; and there were also other Christmas figures, like Rudolph3--the red-nosed reindeer--with his red nose gleaming ever so brightly; even Bart Simpson--a character in the famous comedy The Simpsons--had joined the jolly party, wearing a Santa's hat. The street set off a lot of "ooh"s and "aah"sinside the car.4 When we left, there was a line of cars in the street, all there to see the lights.Christmas is the time for exchanging presents. Stephen and Niko had been thinking about their Christmas lists (a list of things they wish "Santa"to give them for Christmas) for a long time. I didn't want to ask for anything, but the Stapczynskis were so kind to "force"me make one list as well (Mr. Stapczynski told me if I didn't make one he would chop off my legs). So I wrote down a couple of things that I would like to have, and gave the list to them--sorry, my mistake--to Santa. Finally, Christmas Eve came. There was a special Christmas service at the church at 6 p.m. It was certainly a very interesting experience for me. The priest started the service reading and sang out extractions from a holy book--The Divine Liturgy. For several times, we would stand up and pray.Sometimes, the church choir would start singing. The atmosphere was very quiet and holy. Then there was a ceremony called "The Receiving Communion". People waited in line to "receive"a spoonful of food from the priest. It was a very special Christmas tradition. The food was made from bread and wine. The bread represents the body of Jesus, and the wine represents his blood. After this ceremony, the priest had a speech. He reminded us not to forget the true meaning of Christmas, and let Jesus really live inside us--that is, to love the people around us wholeheartedly. I think that no matter if you are a Christian or not, this principle should be part of our lives. After the priest finished his speech, the part that I enjoyed most came: Christmas carols5. Christmas carols are songs that people sing at Christmas, such as "Jingle Bells", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", "Silent Night"and so on. Some were very merry, others sounded quiteholy, but all of them were beautiful. I closed my eyes, and let all the peacefulness and happiness that were in the songs flow through me. What a feeling it was!We went to sleep earlier that day for we had to get up early on Christmas Day to open our presents. Sure enough, when I was still half-way during a sweet dream, Stephen burst into my room and told me to get up and open presents. There were a huge pile of presents under the Christmas tree, and there was such a mysterious mist shrouding them that made me eager to see what they all were. So one by one, we went through all the presents. Mr. and Mrs. Stapczynski had bought me everything I had written on my Christmas list--and a lot more! I got music CDs, film DVDs, clothes, books… I was very happy, and I didn't know how to express my appreciation for what they had done for me.Stephen and Niko had gotten a lot of presents too, and they had already been trying out their new games! In the afternoon, we went to Mrs. Stapczynski's brother, Uncle Stan's house. They had prepared a marvelous meal for us.A lot of their friends and relatives also came. I saw Stephen and Niko's grandparents, Yiayia and Papou (words of grandma and grandpa in Greek--Mrs. Stapczynski's parents came from Greece, so they like the boys using Greek words to call them). They were very kind to me, and treated me just like one of their family members. We had a very luxurious meal, consisting of turkey, beef, pork, and all sorts of other food. After the meal, when all the stomachs were full and everyone was feeling drowsy6 from all the food, we just sat around the table and chatted, just like what we Chinese people do at the Spring Festival. After all, Christmas, like the Spring Festival, is a time for us to get away from our busy lives, a time for familygathering, and a time to have some fun.Notes:1. host family: 寄住家庭或接待家庭。

The study shows that in recent 300 years, the forest area in current territory of China has declined by 0.95×108 hm2 (or 9.2% of the cov erage rate) in total, with a trend of decrease and recovery. In Yunnan Prov- ince, it dropped by 35%.During the recovery period 1949–1998, the western provinces, mu- nicipality and autonomous regions, including Ningxia, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Si- chuan–Chongqing, Yunnan, Tibet, Xinjiang and Qinghai, etc, the increase rates are all below 5%, while the eastern provinces, municipality and autonomous regions (except Heilongjiang, Hubei, Jiangsu–Shanghai) have achieved an increase over 5%, among which the Guang- dong–Hainan, Guangxi, Anhui, Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Zhejiang, and Fu- jian have an increase over 10%.有关介绍美国的英语作文篇2A history of long and effortless success can be a dreadful handicap, but,if properly handled,it may become a driving force. For a while it looked asthough the makeing of semiconductors, whidh America had invented and which sat at the heart of the new computer age,was going to be the next caualty. How things have changed!I1995 the United States can look back on five years of solid growth while Japan has been struggling.Few Americans attribute this Self doubt has yielded to blind pride.American industry has changed its structure ,has gone on a diet ,has learnt to be more quik witted, according to Richard Cavanagh, executive dean of Harvards Kennedy School of Government.'It makes me proud to be an American just to see how our businesses are improving theirproductivity, says Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute ,a think tank in Washington,DC,And William Sahlman of the Harvard Business School believes that people will look back on this perido as a golden age of business management in the United States.有关介绍美国的英语作文篇3You are what you eat.;Nutrition experts often use this saying to promote better eating habits. What we put in our mouths does become a part of us.But we can look at this statement another way. What we eat reflects who we are--as people and as a culture.Do you want to understand another culture? Then you ought to find out about its food.Learning about American food can give us a real taste of American culture. What is American food?At first you might think the answer is easy as pie.To many people,American food means hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken and pizza. If you have a sweet tooth, you might even think of apple pie or chocolate chip cookies. It's true that Americans do eat those things. But are those the only kind of vittles you can find in America?你是你吃什么。

China’s NPC system is consist of many representatives elected from everywhere in china, while America’s government is also consists of elected people from different states. Though both two are democratic, they are still different in many ways.China has more than four times of population comparing to America. Several NPC members are elected from 1.3 billion people; they must be representative and capable enough. However, many of them are rich people. Though we require democratic, the absolute democratic is actually difficult to achieve. They are not able to care for people of every status. The NPC will be held once in 5 years, and during the 5 years, the power of government is used by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. While in America, the power of government is divided into three parts. They are the legislation part, whose name is the Congress, the president, and the judicial part, which is also described as 3 branches, whose name is the Supreme Court. For the power is divided into 3 parts, different parts have counterbalance against each other, the government can be democratic and just enough, though sometimes the division can cause many redundant procedures and make something more complex, which would make the government less efficiency. At least, the resident is the commander of the U.S. army. The president is able to command the army directly when the country is facing emergencies. There cannot be absolute democratic in the world.Sometimes even democratic can also be ridiculous and make awful decisions. We cannot be democratic in everything, but for now democratic is the most effective and fair way. There must be unavoidable troubles in each government, what we need to do is to find it, and then improve it.。

It is the world's third most populous nation, with nearly 300 million people. The United States has maintained a liberal democratic political system since it adopted its Articles of Confederation on 1 March 1781 and the Constitution, the Articles' replacement, on 17 September 1787. American military, economic, cultural, and political influence increased throughout the 20th century; with the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War, the nation emerged as the world's sole remaining superpower.[2] Today, it plays a major role in world affairs. The earliest known use of the name America is from 1507, when a globe and a large map created by the German cartographer Martin Wa ldseemüller in Saint-Die-des-Vosgesdescribed the combined continents of North and South America. Although the origin of the name is uncertain[3], the most widely held belief is that expressed in an accompanying book, Cosmographiae Introductio, which explains it as a feminized version of the Latin name of Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci (Americus Vespucius); in Latin, the other continents' names were all feminine. A female personification of the country is also called Columbia; she is similar to Britannia.[4][5][6][7] Columbus Day, a holiday in the U.S. and other countries in the Americas commemorating Columbus' October 1492 landing. The term "united States of America" was first used officially in the Declaration of Independence, adopted on 4 July 1776. On 15 November 1777, the Second Continental Congreadopted the Articles of Confederation, the first of which stated "The Stile of this Confederacy shall be 'The United States of America.'"The adjectival and demonymic forms for the United States are American, a point of controversy among some.美国英语作文篇4the ways of history are so intricate and the motivations of human actions so complex that it is always hazardous to attempt to represent events covering a number of years, a multiplicity of persons, and distant localities as the expression of oneintellectual or social movement; yet the historical process which culminated in the ascent of thomas jefferson to the presidency can be regarded as the outstanding example not only of the birth of a new way of life but of nationalism as a new way of life.the american revolution represents the link between the seventeenth century, in which modern england became conscious of itself, and the awakening of modern europe at the end of the eighteenth century. it may seem strange that the march of history should have had to cross the atlantic ocean, but only in the north american colonies could a struggle for civic liberty lead also to the foundation of a new nation.here, in the popular rising against a "tyrannical" government, the fruits were more than the securing of a freer constitution. they included the growth of a nation born in liberty by the will of the people, not from the roots of common descent, a geographic entity, or the ambitions of king or dynasty.with the american nation, for the first time, a nation was born, not in the dim past of history but before the eyes of the whole world.。

He says that he took the time to caucus in order to make his voice heard."I feel like it's part of being American as you get the chance to do this, you get the chance to say what you believe in, and have a voice and vote."Thanking his supporters, Ted Cruz relished in a major victory over Donald Trump, the national poll leader."Iowa has sent notice that the republican nominee in the next president of the United States will not be chosen by the media, will not be chosen by the Washington establishment, will not be chose by the lobbyists but will be chosen by the most incredible power for force where all sovereignty resides in our nation by we the people, the American people."Trump is a controversial figure among Iowa voters."I think he can bring the rights to change the government back to the people.""I can say I will not be supporting Trump. Our views just don'tagree. I believe in equality and respect for all people and I don't think he does."Despite a disappointing second place finish for the often bombastic real-estate mogul, Trump was gracious in conceding defeat."I am really honored. And I want to congratulate Ted and I want to congratulate all of the incredible candidates including Mike Huckabee."Analysts say that Florida Senator Marco Rubio is likely to enjoy increased momentum going forward.Rubio finished a solid third, just one percentage point behind Trump but well ahead of the rest of the GOP field.Hillary Clinton endured a nail-biter of a night that finished in a virtual tie with Bernie Sanders.Clinton says she will keep fighting on in her address to supporters."I want you to know I will keep doing what I have done my entire life. I will keep standing up for you. I will keep fighting for you. I will always work to achieve the America that I believe in where the promise of that dream that we hold out to our children and our grandchildren never fades but inspires generations to come. Join me, let's go win the nomination."Although for many, tonight is just the beginning of a long slog to the two major parties national conventions in August, it also marks the end of the line for candidates who failed to gain traction. Two contenders: Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, dropped out after poor showings today in Iowa.美国英语作文篇2the united states has many different kinds of climate . on the west coast the temperature changes very little between summer and winter. but the north central states have a very different kind of climate. in those states, people wear light clothing during the summer, and they need heavy wool or fur clothing in the winter.in the southwest, the climate is pleasantly warm during the winter, but the summer is unpleasantly hot.in the eastern part of the united states, summer temperatures are very different from winter temperatures.summers are usually hot,and winters are usually cold.spring temperatures are comfortably warm, and fall temperatures are pleasantly cool.years ago, people in the cold parts of the united states didnt often get fresh vegetables and fresh fruits during the winter. today, however, trucks and trains carry fruits and vegetables very quickly to all parts of the united states. in this way, americans "send their climates" to people in other states.美国英语作文篇3On job interviews when first conversing with an individual and when addressing small orlarge groups, the first few seconds are critical in setting the tone for how you'll be perceived. If she has an annoying regional accent, uses incorrect grammar, has a limited vocabulary, and if she has an irritatingly sharp piercing voice, sounds whiny or bossy or doesn't articulate her words clearly, it' s an immediate turn-off. This isn't someone who you would hire or proudly introduce to your friends and business associates. This doesn't mean that everyone should try to sound like a professional actor or broadcaster. All of us have qualities unique to our own way of speaking, our individual voiceprintas distinctive as our fingerprints. Our voice is very personaland an important part of our identity. Some natural characteristics of our voice may be very appealing. The idea is to take the voice with which you've been gifted and give it the very best sound that you can. With the right type of practice, by paying attention to the quality of your voice and by knowing how to properly express yourself, you' II almost immediately improve your opportunities in job interviews, social situations, in selling, and in running a meeting or addressing groups of people.Let' s say it again, it all begins with the instrument, your voice. If its sound and quality is flawed and needs improvement, that' s where you start. That' s what everyone hears whether in casual conversation or in making a major speech to a large audience. Pure vowel sounds, articulation, proper breathing, expressive speaking patterns, a pleasing vocal range, naturalness, all these will make you get twice the result with half the effort.美国英语作文篇4Three hundred years ago,the emigrants from England arrived at Maryland acrossing the Atlantic by "May Flower" to search for a "pure"land for the puritans to live.Since then American Dream has come up.America gives every person all over the world equal rights.people can achieve their dreams by hardworking.Three hundred years later, this country has become a rich state. However,American Dream doesn't fade away. With the development of the history,it has many meanings today. What is the American Dream?different people hold different interpretations.but at any rate,American Dream contains several factors below:America offers every person an opportunity to succeed;Success depends on one's ability and effort regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position;Every personhas equal rights;Every person has free belief. When it comes to the 21st century-the information age,Bill Gates's success indicated that only if you have wisdom and talent, you can succeed in America. But American Dream has changed, compared with its original meanings. What's the true motivation behind American Dream? Some historians considered it the thirst for wealth .Pursuing money is the eternal theme ofAmerican Dream. However, the over pursuit of wealth makes American Dream turn bad and lost its attraction to people worldwide gradually. As the changes of the times, the influence of American Dream may become less and less.An increasing number of people confess to having lost faith in the American Dream.美国英语作文篇5Today we set foot in a fascinating place - Barnard primary school in the holy land of Argo.As soon as I got off the bus, a gentle breeze swept through the primary school, which was full of flowers and trees. As I entered the classroom, a joyful song echoed around my ears, and the dancing of passion was accompanied by a flexible body, which was very impressive! Then we walked into the school's long corridor, although it was in the United States, and did not celebrate the Spring Festival customs, but in the long corridor, the classroom still lights up the lanterns, welcomed the new spring. There, we met many new friends, and we met one-on-one, and the joy of our hearts was like a torrent of water.Time at the moment our always stop, and at the moment our slip away, we must have to leave the intoxicating campus, I love love will not give up to looking at the campus behind him, want to have this wonderful memories forever treasure.美国英语作文篇6I am going to Hawaii for vacation .I am going in December ,and I am staying for three weeks.Hawaii is comprised of a chain of 132 islands. We usually think of the eight main islands when we think of Hawaii. This is not surprising as the other 124 islands only total about 3 square miles in land area.Hawaii is home of the world's most active volcano, the crater of Kilauea on Mauna Loa.Sandy beaches, towering volcanoes, and lush valleys lure thousands of tourists each year to this tropical paradise.Hawaii is the most ethnically and racially diverse state of any state in the union,a mix that includes Caucasians,Americans of Japanese descent, and Polynesians, among others.Native Hawaiians have held on to many of their customs and traditions despite the influx of non-natives over the years.Hawaii is the only state that has an official native language.Statehood had been proposed many times throughout Hawaii's history, but it was not until 1959 that Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States. 美国英语作文篇7American eating is funny. They eat almost everything with a fork, and it appears that holding a knife in one's right hand longer than a few seconds is considered to be against good table manners. The system is that if it is absolutely necessary to use a knife, people take the fork in their left hand, and cut off a piece of meat or whatever it is in the normal manner. Then they put the knifedown, transfer the fork to their right hand, and only then do they transport the food to their mouth. This is clearly ludicrous(滑稽可笑), but it is considered good manners. There are several results of this system. First, if it is not absolutely necessary to use a knife, Americans don't use one, because obviously this greatly complicates(使复杂化) things, and you will therefore see them trying to cut things like potatoes, fish and even bacon(熏猪肉) with a fork. Second, towards the end of a course, since only one implement(器具) is being used, food has to bo chased around the plate with the fork - and for the last mouthful the thumb has to be used to keep the food in place, although one is not supposed to do this.Third, tables are generally laid with one knife and two forks, the outside fork being for the salad. There is no need for foreign visitors to follow the American system and try to eat the salad with only a fork, but if you do use your knife, remerber to save it for the meat course. Even desserts(甜食) (except ice cream) are eaten with a fork if at all possible, and the spoon you see by your dessert is meant to be for coffee (but if you use it for your dessert no one will say anything).美国英语作文篇8Today, my mother and I went to New York.In New York and New York, there are two tunnels: the Lincoln tunnel and the Holland tunnel. 美国英语作文篇1the average family income of the u.s.a. has increased from 20,000 dollars per year in 1992 to 25,000 in 20xx. along with this considerable increase in people’s income, the way in which the average family spends its income has also varied to some extent. the average expenditure of family income is divided into several sectors, namely, housing, clothing, food and drink, transport, medical care, entertainment, savings and other items.from the table, it is quite interesting to find that the money spent on some sectors such as food and drink (2%) and entertainment (6%) in 1992 and 20xx 美国英语作文篇1The United States of America, also known as the United States, the U.S., the U.S.A., and America, is a country in North America that shares land borders with Canada and Mexico, and a sea border with Russia. At over 3.7 million square miles (over 9.5 million km2), the U.S. is the third or fourth largest country by total area, depending on whether the disputed areas of China are included. It is the world's third most populous nation, with nearly 300 millionpeople. The earliest known use of the name America is from 1507, when a globe and a large map created by the German cartographer Martin Waldseemüller in Saint-Die-des-Vosges described the combined continents of North and South America. A female personification of the country is also called Columbia; she is similar to Britannia.[4][5][6][7] Columbus Day, a holiday in the U.S. and other countries in the Americas commemorating Columbus' October 1492 landing. The term "united States of America" was first used officially in the Declaration of Independence, adopted on 4 July 1776. On 15 November 1777, the Second Continental Congreadopted the Articles of Confederation, the first of which stated "The Stile of this Confederacy shall be 'The United States of America.'"The adjectival and demonymic forms for the United States are American, a point of controversy among some.美国英语作文篇2Maybe the Spring Festival is much more important and interesting than Christmas, but I like Christmas Day better. Because we can spend time with our friends and classmates during Christmas. When it is snowy,Christmas becomes much more lovely, just like in fairytales. I can imagine I am in a fairytale, the girl who sold the matches is my friend, the ugly duck becoming more and more beautiful and so on. What a beautiful place! So we can also call Christmas “Snowy Lovely Day.”On Christmas Day, shops are red and green. There are so many Christmas cards, Christmas hats, Christmas dolls and many colourful things. So shops look very beautiful. We can give a card or a doll to our friends and say “Merry Christmas.” By the way, I think studying can also become much more interesting.Christmas is coming, it also means a new year will come. Let’s study harder to welcome the new year!也许春节比圣诞节更加重要和有趣,但我更喜欢圣诞节。
