B3M9 U1 Can I have some sweets?

在此之前,学生已学过一些食物的单词及其询问的句型:“Do you want some…?Have you got …?”

3 Why is the position of the sun and various stars useful for working out latitude? The position of the sun and stars are useful for working out latitude because they are fixed points in the sky and their movements in relation to the earth are already known. So they can be used to measure a ship's position.
2 Which do you think was easier to work out: latitude or longitude?
Latitude, because it was used to measure how far you had travelled from land on a straight line. It was discovered a long time before longitude.

Now read the story more carefully and answer the following questions in groups.
1. Where do you think Ashrita lives? The text doesn’t say where he lives now but it is possible he lives in New York because we know that he lived there when he was a teenager and that he took part in a bicycle marathon there in 1978.
The idea for this book came from Hugh Beaver. One day, after watching some birds, he told his friends that he thought those birds were probably the fastest birds in Britain. Several of his friends disagreed with him.
