初中英语阅读理解训练及参考答案(通用9篇)
初中英语阅读理解训练及参考答案(通用9篇)中考英语阅读理解及解析篇一Advertisers Perform a Useful Service to the CommunityAdvertisers tend to think big and perhaps this is why they’re always coming in for criticism. Their critics seem to resent them because they have a flair for self-promotion and because they have so much money to throw around. ‘It’s iniquitous,’ they say, ‘that this entirely unproductive industry (if we can call it that) should absorb millions of pounds each year. It only goes to show how much profit the big companies are making. Why don’t they stop advertising and reduce the price of their goods? After all, it’s the consumer who pays…’The poor old consumer! He’d have to pay a great deal more if advertising didn’t create mass markets for products. It is precisely because of the heavy advertising that consumer goods are so cheap. But we get the wrong idea if we think the only purpose of advertising is to sell goods. Another equally important function is to inform. A great deal of the knowledge we have about household goods derives largely from the advertisements we read. Advertisements introduce us to new products or remind us of the existence of ones we already know about. Supposing you wanted to buy a washing machine, it is more than likely you would obtain details regarding performance, price, etc., from an advertisement.Lots of people pretend that they never read advertisements, but this claim may be seriously doubted. It is hardly possible not to read advertisements these days. And what fun they often are, too! Just think what a railway station or a newspaper would be like without advertisements. Would you enjoy gazing at a blank wall or reading railway byelaws while waiting for a train? Would you like to read only closely printed columns of news in your daily paper? A cheerful, witty advertisement makes such a difference to a drab wall or a newspaper full of the daily ration of calamities. We must not forget, either, that advertising makes a positive contribution to our pockets. Newspapers, commercial radio and television companies could not subsist without this source of revenue. The fact that we pay so little for our daily paper, or can enjoy so many broadcast programmes is due entirely to the money spent by advertisers. Just think what a newspaper would cost if we had to pay its full price!Another thing we mustn’t forget is the ‘small ads.’ which are in virtually every newspaper and magazine. What a tremendously useful service they perform for the community! Just about anything can be accomplished through these columns. For instance, you can find a job, buy or sell a house, announce a birth, marriage or death in what used to be called the ‘hatch, match and dispatch’ column but by far the most fascinating section is the personal or ‘agony’ column. No other item in a newspaper provides such entertaining reading or offers such a deep insight into human nature. It’s the best advertisement for advertising there is!1. What is main idea of this passage?A. Advertisement.B. The benefits of advertisement.C. Advertisers perform a useful service to communities.D. The costs of advertisement.2. The attitude of the author toward advertisers isA. appreciative.B. trustworthy.C. critical.D. dissatisfactory.3. Why do the critics criticize advertisers?A. Because advertisers often brag.B. Because critics think advertisement is a “waste of money”。

The first lunar month is called Yuan-month in China, and in the ancient times people called night Xiao. Meanwhile, the 15th day is the first night to see a full moon. So the day is also called Yuanxiao Festival in China. According to the Chinese tradition, at the very beginning of a new year, when there is a bright full moon hanging in the sky, there should be thousands of colorful lanterns hung out for people to appreciate. At this time, people will try to solve the puzzles on the lanterns and get all their families united in the joyful atmosphere.Besides entertainment and beautiful lanterns, another important part of the Lantern Festival, is eating small dumpling (面团)balls made of glutinous rice flour (糯米粉). We call these balls Yuanxiao of Tangyuan. Obviously, they get the name from the festival itself. It is said that the custom of eating Yuanxiao originated during the Eastern Jin Dynasty in the fourth century, then became popular during the Tang and Song periods. The fillings inside the dumplings or Yuanxiao are either sweet or salty. Sweet fillings are made of sugar, walnuts (胡桃), sesame (芝麻), osmanthus flowers (桂花), rose petals, sweetened tangerine peel (甜橙皮), bean paste (豆沙), or jujube paste (枣泥). A single ingredient (成分)or any combination can be used as the filling. The salty variety is filled with minced (切碎的)meat, vegetables or a mixture. The way to make Yuanxiao also varies between northern and southern China. The usual method followed in southern provinces is to shape the dough (生面团)of rice flour into balls, make a hole, insert the filling, then close the hole and smooth out the dumpling by rolling it between your hands. In North China, sweet or non-meat stuffing is the usual ingredient. The fillings are pressed into hardened cores, dipped lightly in water and rolled in a flat basket containing dry glutinous rice flour. A layer (层)of the flour sticks to the filling, which is then again dipped in water and rolled a second time in the rice flour. And so it goes, like rolling a snowball, until the dumpling is the desired size. The custom of eating Yuanxiao dumplings remains. This tradition encourages both old and new stores to promote their Yuanxiao products. They all try their best to improve the taste and quality of the dumplings to attract more customersI am a girl.My English name is Linda.I am eleven years old.I have eight subjects at school. They are Chinese,math,English,P.E.,music,art,science and history. My favorite subject is Chinese.I think it is interesting.I also like English. But it"s a little difficult for me.I can speak only a little English.History is interesting ,too.I like it.Math is difficult.Mr Wang is our math teacher. He is very strict.I"m usually tired after his class. But I work hard.I think I can study it well.⒈Linda is ______.(A)A.11B.12C.13⒉Linda has ______subjects at school.(C)A.sixB.sevenC.eight⒊Linda"s favorite subject is ______.(A)A.ChineseB.EnglishC.math⒋Linda thinks English is ______.(C)A.difficultB.interestingC.a little difficult⒌______ is NOT true.(B)A.Linda can speak a little English.B.Mr Wang is Linda"s history teacher.C.Linda thinks she can study math well.I am a middle-school student. Now let ___1___ tell you something ___2___ our classroom. It’s very ___3___.There are two maps ___4___ the back wall.___5___ is a map of China.___6___ is a map of the world (世界).There are ___7___ desks and chairs in our classroom. There is a big desk ___8___ the teacher in the front of it.We ___9___ four classes in the ___10___ and two in the afternoon.1.a.I b.my c.me d.we2.a.about b.in c.on d.at3.a.small b.big c.bigger d.biggest4.a.in b.on c.under d.over5.a.It b.It’s c.One d.one6.a.Other b.Others c.Another d.The other7.a.fourty b.forty c.forteen d.fourteenth8.a.for b.of c.to d.about9.a.there is b.there are c.has d.have10.a.moning b.mourning c.morning d.moring(B)The students of Class 3 are ___11___ going to have any classes next week. They’re going to ___12___ the farmers ___13___ their work on the farm. They’re going to ___14___ apples. Many students think it’s ___15___ better than having classes. They’re going to get up ___16___ next Monday morning. They’re going to meet outside the school gate at 7:30.The farm is ___17___ near. They’re going there ___18___ bus. They’re going to ___19___ on their old clothes. They’re going to work ___20___.11.a.no b.not c.having d.always12.a.do b.help c.make d.give13.a.doing b.with c.to make d.to doing14.a.having b.picking c.pick d.have15.a.more b.much c.many d.littleter b.earlier c.early te17.a.not b.quite c.very d.no18.a.take b.take a c.by d.on19.a.wear b.take c.put d.have20.a.hard b.a little c.heavy d.hardly答案:(A)1.C 2.A 3.B 4.B 5.C 6.D 7.B 8.A 9.D 10.C(B)11.B 12.B 13.B 14.C 15.B 16.C 17.A 18.C 19.C 20.A。

初一英语阅读理解专项训练可打印
初一英语阅读理解专项训练可打印全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Middle School English Reading Comprehension Focused Training (Printable)As a middle school student, one of the biggest challenges I face is improving my English reading comprehension skills. Let's be real, those long passages with confusing vocabulary and mind-bending questions can be a total nightmare. But fear not, my friends, because I've got some killer tips and tricks to share that will help you slay those reading comprehension monsters like a boss! The first step to becoming a reading comprehension master is to actually enjoy what you're reading. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but hear me out. If you're constantly forcing yourself to read dull, boring texts that make you want to pull your hair out, you're never going to retain anything. Instead, try to find reading materials that genuinely interest you. Whether it's an exciting fiction novel, an intriguing magazine article, or even a spicy social media post, if the topic piques your curiosity, you're waymore likely to stay engaged and actually understand what you're reading.Another game-changing strategy is to actively annotate as you read. I'm talking about jotting down notes, circling unfamiliar words, underlining key points – the whole shebang. By physically interacting with the text, you're forcing your brain to stay focused and process the information on a deeper level. Plus, those annotations will come in clutch when you need to refer back to the passage for those pesky comprehension questions.Speaking of comprehension questions, one of the biggest mistakes people make is diving into them without a solid understanding of the passage. Slow your roll, speed racer! Before you even look at the questions, take a few minutes to summarize the main idea, key details, and overall gist of the text in your own words. Trust me, this simple step will save you from so much confusion and frustration down the line. Now, let's talk about those tricky vocabulary words that always seem to trip you up. Instead of just glossing over them or relying on context clues (which, let's be honest, don't always work), take the time to actually look up the definitions and make flashcards or a vocabulary journal. Not only will this help youunderstand the passage better, but it'll also expand your overall English vocabulary, which is a total win-win.Another essential skill for reading comprehension success is the ability to make inferences. This means reading between the lines and picking up on those subtle hints and implications that aren't explicitly stated. To practice this, try making predictions about what will happen next or analyzing the author's tone and purpose. The more you flex those inference muscles, the easier it will become to uncover the deeper meanings lurking beneath the surface.Of course, no reading comprehension training would be complete without addressing the dreaded "main idea" questions. These bad boys can be sneaky, but with a little practice, you'll be spotting those main ideas like a champ. One helpful technique is to identify the topic sentence or thesis statement, which usually states the central idea right off the bat. You can also look for repetition or emphasis on certain ideas throughout the passage, as those are likely to be the main focus.Last but not least, don't forget to practice, practice, practice! The more reading comprehension passages and questions you expose yourself to, the more comfortable and confident you'll become. Start with easier materials and gradually work your wayup to more challenging texts. And remember, it's okay to struggle sometimes – that's how you learn and grow.So there you have it, my fellow students – a comprehensive guide to slaying those reading comprehension dragons. Embrace the strategies, stay determined, and never lose sight of the fact that improving your English reading skills will open up a world of opportunities. Now go forth and conquer those passages like the reading comprehension warriors you are!篇2Mastering English Reading Comprehension: A Student's GuideAs an eighth-grader gearing up for high school, one of the biggest challenges I face is conquering the reading comprehension section of English exams. It's no secret that this part of the test can make or break your overall score, and with the increasing emphasis on English proficiency, it's more important than ever to develop solid reading comprehension skills.I'll be honest, when I first started tackling reading comprehension passages, I found them daunting. The vocabulary was often unfamiliar, the themes were complex, andthe questions seemed designed to trip me up at every turn. However, through trial and error, I've developed some strategies that have helped me improve my reading comprehension abilities significantly. The first and most crucial step is to read the passage actively. Gone are the days when I could skim through the text and hope for the best. Active reading involves engaging with the material, making notes, and asking questions as you go. I've found it helpful to underline or highlight key information, such as main ideas, supporting details, and transitional phrases. This not only keeps me focused but also makes it easier to locate important information when answering questions.Another game-changer for me has been building my vocabulary. I can't stress enough how much easier it is to comprehend a passage when you understand most of the words used. I've made a habit of keeping a vocabulary journal, jotting down unfamiliar words I encounter in my reading, and learning their definitions. Over time, this has expanded my word bank significantly, making it easier to grasp complex ideas and nuances in the passages. One mistake I used to make was rushing through the questions without fully understanding the passage. Now, I'velearned to read the questions carefully before diving into the text. This helps me identify the specific information I need to look for, making the reading process more targeted and efficient. Additionally, I try to answer the questions in my own words first, and then match my response to the available options – this helps me avoid falling into the trap of choosing an answer that merely sounds plausible.Of course, practice is key. I've found that the more reading comprehension passages I tackle, the more comfortable I become with the format and the types of questions asked. I make it a point to practice regularly, using a variety of sources, including past exam papers, online resources, and sample passages from English textbooks. One aspect that used to throw me off was the different genres and styles of writing present in the passages. From narrative fiction to expository non-fiction, each type of text presents its own set of challenges. To address this, I've made an effort to read widely, exposing myself to diverse writing styles and genres. This has not only improved my comprehension but also expanded my general knowledge, which often comes in handy when dealing with topic-specific passages. Finally, I've learned the importance of time management during exams. Reading comprehension sections can betime-consuming, with multiple passages and questions to navigate. I've found it helpful to allocate a specific amount of time for each passage, based on its length and difficulty level. If I find myself getting stuck on a particular question, I make a note to return to it later, rather than wasting precious minutes on a single item.As I continue to prepare for the English reading comprehension exams, I'm confident that these strategies will serve me well. It's been a journey of growth, but one that has made me a more skilled and confident reader. With perseverance and the right approach, I believe any student can conquer the reading comprehension challenge and excel in their English studies.篇3Cracking the Code: Mastering English Reading ComprehensionAs an eighth grader, one of the biggest challenges I face is becoming a skilled reader and comprehending those lengthy English passages we encounter on exams. It's like being handeda code to decipher, with the keys scattered throughout the text. But fear not, fellow students! I've uncovered some strategies that have transformed my approach to reading comprehension, and I'm here to share them with you.The first step is to understand that reading comprehension is a muscle that needs to be exercised regularly. Just like training for a sport, consistency is key. Set aside dedicated time each day for focused reading practice, even if it's just 30 minutes. Treat it like a workout for your brain, and you'll soon notice improvements in your stamina and focus. Before diving into the passage, take a few moments to scan the questions. This gives you a sense of what information to look for, allowing you to read with a purpose. Think of it as a treasure map, guiding you to the hidden gems within the text. Now, it's time to tackle the passage itself. As you read, visualize the content in your mind. Create mental images and scenarios to make the information more engaging and memorable. If you encounter unfamiliar words, don't just gloss over them. Jot them down, look up their meanings, and incorporate them into your active vocabulary.Once you've completed the passage, it's time for a quick review. Summarize the main idea and key points in your ownwords. This exercise solidifies your understanding and prepares you for the questions that lie ahead. When tackling the questions, read each one carefully and identify the specific information it's asking for. Refer back to the passage and look for direct evidence to support your answer. Don't rely solely on your memory or make assumptions. For those tricky inference questions, where you need to read between the lines, pay close attention to the tone, context clues, and implied meanings. These questions test your ability to go beyond the surface level and make logical connections. If you find yourself stuck on a question, don't panic. Reread the relevant section of the passage, and look for any details or clues you might have missed. Sometimes, a fresh perspective is all you need to crack the code.Remember, practice makes perfect. Seek out additional reading comprehension materials, such as newspaper articles, short stories, or online resources. The more you expose yourself to diverse texts, the better equipped you'll be to tackle any passage that comes your way.Collaboration can also be a powerful tool. Form study groups with classmates and discuss the passages together.Hearing different perspectives and explanations can deepen your understanding and reveal insights you may have overlooked.Lastly, don't forget to celebrate your progress. Reading comprehension is a journey, and every small victory deserves recognition. Reward yourself with a favorite snack, a fun activity, or simply a pat on the back for your hard work and perseverance.Fellow students, the path to mastering English reading comprehension may seem daunting, but with the right strategies and a positive mindset, you can unlock the code. Embrace the challenge, practice diligently, and watch as thoseonce-intimidating passages become exciting puzzles to solve. You've got this!。

1.During all this time I never stopped thinking about escape. When I traveled across to the other side of the island, I could see the other islands, and I said to myself, "Perhaps I can get there with a boat. Perhaps I can get back to England one day."So I decided to make myself a boat. I cut down a big tree, and then began to make a long hole in it. It was hard work, but about six months later, I had a very fine canoe (独木舟). Next, I had to get it down to the sea. How silly I was! Why didn't I think before I began work? Of course, the canoe was too heavy. I couldn't move it! I pulled and pushed and tried everything, but it didn't move. I was very unhappy for a long time after that. That happened in my fourth year on the island. In my sixth year I did make myself a smaller canoe, but I did not try to escape in it. The boat was too small for a long journey, and I did not want to die at sea. The island was my home now, not my prison, and I was just happy to be alive. A year or two later, I made myself a second canoe on the other side of the island. I also built myself a second house there, and so I had two homes. My life was still busy from mo rning to night. There were always things to do or to make. I learnt to make new clothes for myself from the skins of dead animals. They looked very strange, it is true, but they kept me dry in the rain.I kept food and tools at both my houses, and also wild goats. There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learnt to take food from me, and soon I had goats' milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn (玉米) fields. And so many years went by.1. The purpose of making a canoe on the island was to _____________.A. escape in itB. get to the other side of the islandC. use it for foodD. go around the island2. To survive, the writer did the following EXCEPT _____________.A. keeping goats for milkB. making clothes from animal skinsC. working in the cornfieldsD. going fishing in the sea3. Why didn't the writer use his first canoe?A. Because it was too small for a long journey.B. Because it was too heavy to get down to the sea.C. Because there was something wrong with it.D. Because the writer was busy building a second house.4. From the story, we can learn that _____________.A. the writer tried to make his stay comfortable on the islandB. the writer had nothing to do on the wild islandC. the writer tried to escape in the second canoe, but failedD. the writer was in prison on the island, losing his freedom5.What is the best word to describe the writer?A. excitedB. braveC. adventurousD. hard-working2.Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they can eatand othe rs often forget to turn off the lights whenthey leave the classroom. There are many wetlands(湿地) in China and some of them have become the world ‘s important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of birds and animals. The world’s largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve(自然保护区) is in them. More than 700 milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Cranes Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands. The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife(野生生物)。
Offering food and home for some special kinds of animals and birds is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they also prevent flood. But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. 初中英语阅读理解训练及参考答案中考英语阅读理解及解析篇一The truly reasonable men who know where the solutions lie are finding it harder and herder to get a hearing. They are despised, mistrusted and even persecuted by their own kind because they advocate such apparently outrageous things as law enforcement. If half the energy that goes into violent acts were put to good use, if our efforts were directed at cleaning up the slums and ghettos, at improving living-standards and providing education and employment for all, we would have gone a long way to arriving at a solution. Our strength is sapped by having to mop up the mess that violence leaves in its wake. In a well-directed effort, it would not be impossible to fulfill the ideals of a stable social programme. The benefits that can be derived from constructive solutions are everywhere apparent in the world around us. Genuine and lasting solutions are always possible, providing we work within the framework of the law.1.
