阴山岩画英文介绍
The Yinshan Rock Art is a prehistoric rock art site located in the southern bank of the Yellow River in Minle County, Gansu Province, China. It is one of the most important rock art sites in China and is considered to be a cultural heritage of world significance.
The Yinshan Rock Art site consists of a large number of rock paintings and carvings, mainly depicting images of humans, animals, celestial bodies, geometric patterns, and social and religious scenes. The majority of the rock art is believed to date back to the Bronze Age and Iron Age (approximately 1600 BC - AD 1400), and is thought to have been created by ancient tribes of the Central Plains and Western Regions.
The rock art at Yinshan is considered to be an important record of the cultural history and social life of ancient Central Plains and Western Regions people. It provides valuable insights into the social organization, beliefs, religious practices, material culture, and hunting-gathering and pastoral economies of these ancient people. The rock art at Yinshan also provides a visual record of the relationship between human beings and nature, as well as the ecological and environmental changes that have occurred in the region over the past several thousand years.
The Yinshan Rock Art site was first discovered in 1968 during construction work. Since then, archaeologists and historians from various disciplines have conducted extensive research on the rock art, including
dating, classification, interpretation, and protection measures. In 2001, the Chinese government designated the Yinshan Rock Art site as a national cultural heritage protection unit. In 2012, the site was included on the World Heritage List as part of the "Rock Art of the Upper Yellow River Region" cultural heritage site.。
