内容主要是根据名著《鲁滨逊漂流记》改编而成，以鲁滨逊的口吻分两段讲述了他初到小岛上和遇到“星期五”的情节。
两段内容时间相隔较长，但是因为文章中a few weeks ago和not long ago学生容易混淆。
在获取信息上可课前通过小组合作预习，查找小说的背景知识（作家、主要人物、故事梗概等）来初步感知文本材料，在上课时通过泛读和精读的方式结合了解文本讲述的故事，欣赏文本，感受文章的各种时态。
