Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?It is better to use printed material, such as books and articles, to do research than to use the internet.【参考内容】There is a debate over whether printed material or the internet is a better source for research. While some argue that printed material is more reliable, others believe that the internet provides more accessible and up-to-date information. In my opinion, using the internet is a better option for research for several reasons. Firstly, the internet provides a vast amount of information that is easily accessible. Unlike printed material that may require a trip to a library or bookstore, the internet allows users to access information from anywhere at any time. This convenience is especially beneficial for students and researchers who may need to quickly find information for an assignment or project. Additionally, the internet provides more up-to-date information compared to printed material. Books and articles may take months or even years to get published, which means the information they contain may become outdated by the time they reach the readers. On the other hand, the internet provides real-time information that is constantly being updated. This is particularly useful for areas such as science and technology, where new discoveries are made regularly.Furthermore, the internet allows for a more interactive and dynamic research experience. Unlike printed material, the internetprovides various multimedia resources such as videos, images, and interactive simulations. These resources can significantly enhance the learning experience and help researchers better understand complex concepts. Moreover, the internet allows users to connect with other researchers, join online forums, and share knowledge and ideas. This collaborative aspect of the internet promotes a broader scope of research and enables researchers to learn from one another.In conclusion, while printed material has its merits, such as reliability and tangibility, the internet offers more convenience, up-to-dateness, and interactivity, making it a better option for research. It is crucial for researchers to adapt to the digital age and take advantage of the vast resources available on the internet.2. Some people believe that it's best to live in a small town. Others think that it's better to live in a big city.【参考内容】The debate between living in a small town and living in a big city has been ongoing for a long time. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice ultimately depends on anindividual's preferences and priorities.Living in a small town offers a sense of tight-knit community and tranquility that is often absent in big cities. People in small towns tend to know their neighbors and have strong social connections. The pace of life is generally slower, and there is less stress and traffic congestion. Small towns also offer natural beauty and a closer connection to nature, with more open spaces and green areas. On the other hand, big cities offer a multitude of opportunities and amenities that cannot be found in small towns. Cities are oftencultural and economic hubs, providing diverse employment opportunities and a vibrant social scene. They offer a wide range of entertainment options, such as theaters, museums, restaurants, and shopping centers. Additionally, big cities tend to have better healthcare and educational facilities, as well as better public transportation systems.Moreover, big cities offer a greater sense of anonymity and freedom. In a small town, everyone knows everyone else's business, which can lead to a lack of privacy. In a big city, individuals have more opportunities to reinvent themselves and pursue their interests without fear of judgment or scrutiny from others.In conclusion, the decision to live in a small town or a big city depends on an individual's personality, preferences, and goals. Some may prefer the warmth and closeness of a small community, while others may thrive in the diversity and excitement of a big city. Ultimately, it is important to choose a living environment that aligns with one's personal values and aspirations.

减少维修主干道的开支(reduce the cost of main road maintenance);2. 很多地方have no access to the train, so people have to drive their cars, 如加州urban public transportation到rail station都不发达;3.
Do you agree or disagree with the followingstatement?Some people think that internet access is asimportant as other services, such as buildingroads, so the government should offerinternet access to all of their citizens at nocost.
词汇题:hence=therefore, particularly=especially, scarce=short, controversial=disagreement, induce=fuel, tremendous=enormous/numerous。

Do you agree or disagree with the followingstatement?When you have been friends with someonefor a long time, it is important to continueyour friendship with that person even if he orshe does something you do not like.

Rebellion of other states, Shortage of food supply,
Some people prefer to buy technological devices as soon as they are available to thepublic, while others prefer to wait until manypeople have adopted them. Which way do youprefer?
Sample answer:The reading and listening discuss about the possible explanations regarding to whether the giant bird can fly. The passage mentions three observations to demonstrate why the giant bird cannot fly.Whereas, the professor totally refutes the three reasons presented in the passage.Firstly, the professor rebuts the reading’s idea that the giant bird has lifting-off problems, for its wingspan is too large, thus it cannot fly. The professor claims the giant bird takes off by running start, which is indicated by its big feet and bones.Secondly, the professor contradicts reading’s statement that the giant bird does not possess strong muscle structures to support its continuous fight. The professor mentions that the giant bird can catch a so-called warm current in the air just like eagles do, and it can keep flying without moving its wings.At last, the passage states that according to Darwin's Theory of Evolution, every species evolves its useful advantages, and the giant bird’s wings are useless in hunting for preys or in avoiding the threats from predators, so it cannot fly. However, the professor explains that wings bring benefits to the giant bird. Because the bird preys on dead animals, so it needs to cover long distance to look for food in large areas.

Which way do you think is the best for a student to make new friends?A: joining a sports team;B: participating in community activities;C: traveling这个题目近年来出现了好几次,最近一次出现在去年3月15日。
Friendship is one of the most valuable sentiments for people, especially for people who are in school days. Making new friends and sharing interests with others are always exciting parts of social life. When it comes to the best way for students to make friends, some support that participating in community activities or traveling are preferable,however, from where I am stand, joining a sports team is the undoubtedly the best choice.First of all, for the energetic students,doing sports is their favorite. Therefore, joining a sports team from where they can share same interests and relax is the easiest way to know eachother.Training in the same sports team, the students cannot only release them selves from whole day's pressure, but also can build up good relationships with others through the communication and exercise. For example, the champions of Olympic Games,China's famous synchronized diving athletes, Guo Jingjing and Wu Minxia, the two girls enjoy a really good friendship. They became to know each other because they both joined the same sports team, and then after exercised and played together, they finally become two enviable friends.Additionally, cooperation and coherency are always the main essence of a sports team. Here, students learn how to work together, how to fight for the same goal through tacit teamwork, how to contribute to the whole team instead of just thinking of self, and even how to negotiate or discuss with others, as well as how to be patient and rational. Although there may be some argument or disagreement among students, I always think that everything is going to be okay because the sports team will be coherent.Finally, joining a sport team will prov idea long period of time for students to get along with each other. However, if students participate in community activities, for example, doing volunteer job in the town's library, they would not have sufficient time to communicate with each other since most of their time is full of working. Meanwhile, students can play with each other during traveling, but only several days are deficient and most people will not keep in touch with others after the trip.

Task 1
1. John住在英国西北部,是那四首诗出产的地方,并且John和Pearl Poet 的笔记相同;
2. 认为是Huse写的,因为诗歌使用了押头韵,Huse也经常使用这个技巧;
3. 可能是几个匿名作家一起写的,而不是一个人,因为诗歌提到了英格兰不同的地方;
1. John的笔记可能是复制的,笔记一样也不能说明问题;
2. Pearl Poet和Huse在诗里使用的方言不同,而且其他诗人也使用押头韵;
Task 2 INDEPENDENT
Which do you think is the best way for a student to
make friends?
a). joining a sports team;
b). participating in community activities;
c). traveling;
Use specific examples to support your answer.
