First, the West is a huge area that accounts for almost two thirds of China’s total land mass. It is also rich in natural resources and energy. Second is the “conservation of the ecological environment”. Third, it is hoped that the development of the interior will help narrow the current economic gap with the coastal regions. As the economic level of the interior is brought in line with that of the coastal regions, it will generate massive domestic demand and contribute to the growth of China as a giant consumer market.我对中国的西部大开发很有信心。

如果内陆经济发展水平能与沿海地区相一致,就能拉动内需,推动中国成为巨大的消费市场。

绿色资源英语演讲稿范文
Good morning/afternoon/evening. It is my great honor to stand before you today to discuss a topic that is not only crucial for our present but also for the future of our planet: the importance of green resources. As we all know, the world is facing unprecedented challenges due to environmental degradation, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources. Therefore, it is imperative that we prioritize the sustainable management and utilization of green resources.Title: Embracing Green Resources for a Sustainable FutureIntroduction:Our planet is a treasure trove of natural resources, which have been providing us with sustenance, comfort, and prosperity for centuries. However, the rapid industrialization, urbanization, and population growth have put immense pressure on these resources, leading to environmental problems such as deforestation, pollution, and loss of biodiversity. To address these issues, we must shift our focus towards green resources and promote sustainable practices. In this speech, Iwill discuss the significance of green resources, the challenges we face in their conservation, and the steps we can take to ensure a sustainable future.I. The Significance of Green Resources1. Biodiversity: Green resources, such as forests, wetlands, and coral reefs, provide habitats for countless species, maintaining the delicate balance of ecosystems. Biodiversity is essential for the functioning of our planet and the provision of ecosystem services, such as clean air, water, and soil fertility.2. Climate Regulation: Green resources play a vital role in regulating the Earth's climate. Forests, for instance, absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. By preserving and expanding green resources, we can mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.3. Food Security: Green resources, such as agricultural land, arecrucial for ensuring food security. Sustainable agriculture practicesthat rely on green resources can improve crop yields, reduce soil erosion, and minimize the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.4. Economic Benefits: Green resources contribute significantly to the global economy. Renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, provide clean energy alternatives and create job opportunities. Additionally, eco-tourism and sustainable forestry can generate income for local communities.II. Challenges in the Conservation of Green Resources1. Deforestation: The rapid rate of deforestation, driven byagricultural expansion, logging, and urbanization, poses a significant threat to green resources. This leads to habitat loss, biodiversity decline, and increased greenhouse gas emissions.2. Pollution: Air, water, and soil pollution are major concerns that impact the health of green resources. Industrial emissions, agricultural runoff, and improper waste disposal contribute to the degradation of ecosystems.3. Overexploitation: The overexploitation of natural resources, such as fishing and mining, has led to the depletion of stocks and ecosystems. This unsustainable practice hampers the recovery of resources andaffects the livelihoods of millions of people.III. Steps to Ensure a Sustainable Future1. Policy and Regulation: Governments should implement strict environmental policies and regulations to protect green resources. This includes the establishment of protected areas, enforcement of anti-pollution laws, and the promotion of sustainable practices.2. Public Awareness and Education: Raising awareness about the importance of green resources and the consequences of environmental degradation is crucial. Educational programs, campaigns, and community involvement can encourage individuals to adopt sustainable habits.3. Technological Innovation: Investing in research and development of renewable energy technologies, sustainable agriculture practices, andeco-friendly materials can help reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources.4. International Cooperation: Addressing global environmental challenges requires international cooperation. Countries should work together to share knowledge, resources, and best practices to protect green resources. Conclusion:In conclusion, the sustainable management and utilization of green resources are essential for our planet's future. By recognizing the significance of green resources, addressing the challenges we face, and taking collective action, we can ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Let us embrace green resources and work together to create a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous world.Thank you for your attention.。

Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a global event held on the last Saturday of March every year. It calls on people to turn off their lights and other electrical appliances(电器) like computers for one hour. In this way, people can pay more attention to climate change and realize the importance of saving our planet. Earth Hour first started in 2007 in Sydney and many cities around the world followed its lead in the following year. On March 28th, 2009, up to 88 countries and 4 000 cities participated(参加) in it. From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on that day, many cities in China such as Beijing, Dalian and Hangzhou also took part in the activity. It seems to be a dark world when the lights are turned off. People are trying to do something special to protect the environment through such a beautiful “dark moment”.
Unit 2 Ecotourism汇总
• The CPF also noted that ecotourism can motivate local communities to maintain and protect forests and wildlife as they see their income directly linked to the preservation of their environment.
• "However, many tour guides do not have much knowledge to offer in this area," Wang said.
• "Most tourists just take a few pictures to prove they have been to certain areas. These tourists then go home, losing the chance to learn about the environment and local culture," he said.
• The reserves are also "learning laboratories" which can provide logistical support for research and monitoring in environmentally fragile areas, he said.
