Good afternoon.My name is Liu Xin, I come from department of humanities and social sciences.It’s an honor to have the opportunity to give a presentation .
Today, I want to talk about my major—calligraphy. Do you know the word “calligraphy”? Can you guess it? Yes, it is 书法. Next, I will introduce Chinese calligraphy
目录：First , please look at the content. Part one ,i will introduce myself, including my educational background and academic experience. Then part two, i want to tell you what calligraphy is exactly. Part three i will talk about my own view on this major.
教育背景：I got a bachelor's degree in Beijing Normal University, and my major is calligraphy. Then I was submitted to the master's degree still in the same university ,and also studied on the same major.But when i come to Beijing Language and Culture University to start a doctorate, my major become Calligraphy literature and calligraphy history, who is attached to Chinese Classical Philology.
毕业论文：My undergraduate thesis is A comparative study of calligraphy between Ni Yuanlu and Huang Daozhou
During my undergraduate ‘s and master’s stage ,i usually concentrated on case study. And those calligrapher who i discussed all lived in the end of ming dynasty and the beginning of qingdynasty.Because my tutor told me my previous researches are too cloes to the present age.Soi should trace back to the source of calligraphy,and choose weiJin dynasty as my research direction.
学科地位：Just take me for example，in the bachelor’s and master’s degree , my range of knowledge is between calligraphy history and calligraphy theory ,but now i must learn about 十三经or Philosophers of Warring States Period. They are difficult but really necessary for me in order to future study.
题外话：i want to mention a digression
名人语录：these people are famous and great calligrapher, but they have the same viewpoint——calligraphy is regarded as the superabundance of history, and it is only a little skill when compared with Confucian doctrine and practical knowledge. They also mention a lot of people who are skillful in calligraphy is tired of fame. So,they write just to enrich themselves as the spiritual home, get emotional venting, the spiritual purification.
Even though they said that, but as a student ,we must understand we are not great scholars like them. So,the first thing for us is to improve calligraphy skills, then learn to appreciate beauty, have capability to express what you think through calligraphy.Then we also need to enrich our knowledge ,learn from Su Shi, Yang zhenqing and so on, try our best to become a great scholar .If we could do this , calligraphy is not only an art or a skill, is meaning writing yourself.
