《百万英镑》是马克•吐温著名的讽刺小说的代表作。
同时本单元也是高中英语必修阶段学生接触的第一个剧本。
另外,学习剧本最好的方法是把剧本逼真表演出来。
本节课的教学设计落脚点是学生经过本单元的系列活动后能逼真地将剧本表演出来。
为了实现这一教学目标,本设计主要聚焦戏剧要素分析(舞台说明、人物、戏剧语言、戏剧冲突),启发学生理解故事的思想内涵,引导学生解读剧本,理解作者是如何利用动作和语言传神的表现人物的情感状态、身份地位以及性格特征,挖掘和品位英语戏剧语言魅力。
